Det här kandidatarbetet undersöker om karaktärer med icke-normativ sexualitet
finns representerade i digitala spel och hur dessa framställs. Arbetet har även
fokus på de reaktioner samhället har visat i samband med att spel som behandlar
ämnet icke-normativ sexualitet kommit ut på marknaden. Syftet är att
uppmärksamma och ge insikt om icke-normativ sexualitet som ämne och hur
diskussionen av detta kan leda till en utveckling inom spelmediet.
Informationen som användes för att undersöka ämnet och dess reaktioner finns
sammanställt under ett forskningsmomentet, vilket sedan utvecklas till flera
noveller. Dessa noveller har sedan användes i en undersökning som genomfördes
av 11 stycken deltagare.

Visuellt berättande i spelmiljöer
Abstrakt
I den här uppsatsen undersöks hur ett narrativ kan drivas inom digitala spel
enbart med hjälp av spelmiljön. Syftet är att få förståelse för vad
miljöberättande behärskar som en självständig form av berättande och vad
författarna kan göra för att uppnå detta mål. För att undersöka problemområdet
genomfördes en spelproduktion där metoder framtagna under undersökningens gång
applicerades. Produktionen testades av utomstående studenter i medieteknik och
resultaten sammanställdes med reflektioner kring vad som uppnåtts och de
metoder som applicerats. Undersökningen beskriver arbetsprocessen och metoder
och visar hur dessa kan driva ett narrativ med en spelmiljö.
Abstract
In this thesis examines how to drive a narrative in Digital games using only
the game environment.
Frihet i datorspel
A game designer has to consider several aspects when he or she is designing a game. One of those aspects is the perceived freedom in the game by the player. There exist several methods to facilitate this perceived freedom in the design phase of the game. This thesis presents, in a qualitative methodology, a number of these methods a game designer might utilize to give the player a heightened sense of freedom for an improved gaming experience. Inledning till spelutveckling för AndroidSpelutveckling för Android med Java och OpenGL ES
This thesis deals with the problems you face as a new game developer for the mobile platform Android when developing a 3D game and presents solutions to these problems. It also explores which optimizations should be made to increase performance and how well suited for game development the Android platform is. A simple 3D game for version 2.2 of Android was developed to examine this. The conclusion was that a good game structure for Android separates logic and rendering by running these separately in different threads. Solutions to rendering and updating of game logic were presented and optimizations were implemented for performance, although fewer optimizations were needed than was anticipated.

I detta arbete undersöks hur konceptet lek går att applicera på digitala spel
och hur man presenterar ett fiktivt universum och de regler som definierar det
universumet. Syftet med denna undersökning är att öka kvaliteten på digitala
spel för spelare genom att öka förståelsen för hur sådana regler introduceras.
Frågeställningen som ämnas att besvaras är ?hur kan man introducera
realistiska, semi-realistiska och fiktiva regler i ett spel??. Undersökningen
baseras delvis på analyser kring varför vissa introduktioner av regler ofta
accepteras och andra inte, dels på utvärdering av en gestaltning och dels på
tidigare forskning.
Denna undersökning är indelad i två delar; en researchdel och en
produktionsdel.

This paper presents a study of the computer game ?Minesweeper?. The aim of the game is to search through a rectangular area of mined squares without hitting any mines. By using a strategy based on making every operation as safe as possible, series of the game have been simulated. The size of the playground is four times four squares.
Z Excursion : Spel-bidrag till Swedish Game Awards
This report describes my degree project. For my degree project I made a demo for a game idea that I've developed, and implemented for use with Xbox 360. The idea was about converting the feeling and gameplay of old 2D side-scrolling platform games into 3D, viewed from a first-person perspective. The Xbox 360 version of the demo was also submitted for the game competition Swedish Game Awards. In the report, I explain this idea more extensive, what software I used to implement it, and how I implemented it. Finally, at the end I clarify the results and discuss fulfilled tasks and future improvements.

This report investigates Digital games with focus on differences and similarities between children?s point of view when it comes to games focusing on learning compared to those focusing on entertainment. The approached group was children, 7 years old. The study contains investigations and analysis of how these children used games in both school and home environment. Rapporten handlar om programmet Game Maker som prototypverktyg, och vänder sig till personer och företag som skulle kunna vara intresserade av detta. Syftet med arbetet var att skapa ett spel i Game Maker, "Ittle Dew", samt skriva om Game Makers egenskaper och egenheter. Spelet färdigställdes i tid, och rapporten tar även upp en mängd designfrågor som dök upp under skapandet av detta. This master thesis examines commercial video games and their relation to the concept of immersion and realism. Games as a communicative medium is quite a new area of interest within rhetorical research in Sweden. Most of the research conducted has, however, been focused on gaming and formation on opinion ? games that explicitly tries to persuade the player, unlike commercial games that focus on entertainment, that is. But that does not mean that commercial games cannot influence us.
När stjärnor flyttar på sig : -En intermedial studie av läsprocessen som den relaterar till Codex, det digitala uppslagsverket i tv- och dataspelet Mass Effect
This study examines the in-game encyclopaedia Codex as it appears within the videogame Mass Effect. The purpose of this study is to analyse the Codex with emphasis on how the reading process is affected by the videogame medium. In this regard the study seeks to uncover what characterises the Codex as a fictional encyclopaedia, what it entails and how it interacts with the rest of the game. The theoretical basis of this study is derived from a combination of the writings of Wolfgang Iser concerning the process of reading, Jesper Juul's writings on the relationship between games and narratives, and the concept of intermediality as discussed by Hans Lund and Jørgen Bruhn. This study is based on a close examination of the PC and Playstation 3 versions of the videogame Mass Effect, created by Bioware, with particular emphasis placed on the Codex. Mass Effect is a science fiction third-person shooter and RPG set in a future where mankind has begun interacting with aliens civilizations and colonising new planets.

Jag kan själv : Spelmanualer för mellanstadiebarn
Todays board game manuals have many shortcomings. One of them is that they are not always adapted to the game's target audience.Adapting the language and shape of a game manual for the the target group children, can save time for both parents and teachers, and give the children a chance to conquer the game by themselves. In addition, playing board games can lead to children developing other important properties such as problem solving and independence.This study found that the game manuals inconsistency, tone and the way they adress the reader makes it difficult for children to grasp the content. Many game manuals do not speak directly to the reader, and often describes gameplay in a passive way, which has been shown by this study.This study has resulted in 12 guidelines for writing game manuals for children. In addition, they have been tested with a sample study.
