Detta examensarbete genomfördes i samarbete med m4solutions AB, Halmstad, och Volvo Buses AB, Göteborg.Då Volvo önskar att minska totalkostnaden för tillverkning av luftintag, utan nedsatt prestanda som konsekvens, krävs undersökningar om hur väl dagens intag fungerar och vad som kan förbättras, samt planering av utvecklingsarbetet. För att underlätta för kommande förbättringsarbete har detta examensarbete undersökt vilket underlag och vilka kompetenser som krävs för att genomföra detta arbete. Resultatet av denna undersökning är en instruktion fylld med redskap och information vilket skall stöda Volvo Buses AB vid kommande arbetet att optimera luftintaget. Eftersom Volvo AB ingår i fordonsbranschen är det lämpligt att forma vår instruktion utefter ISO/TS 16949:2009 standarden, för produktutveckling inom fordonsindustrin, och Volvo?s egna metodik, Global Development Process, för produktutveckling. Studien innefattar flödessimuleringar, marknadsundersökningar och kriterieframtagning, samt analyser och utvärdering av samtlig tillgänglig information. Tillsammans gav detta en övergripande bild över luftintagets funktionalitet och prestanda, vilket i sin tur belyser vilka aktiviteter som är nödvändiga att föreslå i den slutgiltiga instruktionen..

Volvo Construction Equipment AB, Volvo CE, är en global tillverkare av entreprenadmaskiner. Detta exjobb fokuserar på batterierna i dessa entreprenadmaskiner som försörjer maskinens elsystem och startmotor vid start.Med dagens teknik ställs nya krav på strömförsörjning i entreprenadmaskiner. Den största skillnaden är att förbrukare är igång när motorn är avstängd och strömförsörjningen kommer enbart från batteriet. Ett startbatteri av bly-syra typ är inte konstruerad för detta användningsfall. Volvo CE jobbar därför med att ta fram kunskap om hur laddningen i batterierna används och cyklas under drift.Frågeställning om vilka parametrar och trender som är relevanta för att utvärdera batteriladdning har behandlats i detta arbete.

The purpose of this study is to compare how the male journalists of the Slitz magazine and the female journalists of Veckorevyn represent the female sex. Slitz is dominated by sensual, sexy pictures of women. The texts describe the women on the basis of the journalists opinions. The women themselves do not get the same opportunities as the journalists to tell the readers who they are. Slitz magazine objectify women, they seem to be aware of it and do not hide their purpose.

Rapporten undersöker Volvo Construction Equipment Components axelmontering för axlar till Dumper och Hjullastare. Arbetet har utförts med intervjuer, studiebesök på andra fabriker och en detaljerad studie av monteringsavdelningen och dess angränsande avdelningar vilka levererar artiklar till monteringsstationerna. Undersökningen har resulterat i ett förslag där fördelarna av en stationsbaserad montering och fördelarna med en linjemontering kombinerats. Arbetet presenteras i rapporten och i en dator animerad 3D simulering av förslaget till en ny monteringslayout. Jag anser att Volvo CE Components och montörerna på monteringsavdelningen skulle gynnas av monteringslayouten som redovisas i rapporten..

At Volvo Cars Torslanda's paint shop there is a requirement to in a fast and effective way get an overview of the plants capacity. Therefore a capacity template was constructed as a tool for the engineers at Volvo several years ago. This template has during the years become complicated and outdated. Thus this thesis work will resort as a new capacity template, built from scratch. The new template has been built up based on requirements from Volvo and the concept of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

Syftet med detta examensarbete är att på uppdrag av Volvo Construction Equipment hitta en metod för att hantera och kategorisera idéflödet i deras idéhanteringssystem Interact. Den metod som användes var kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Slutsatsen är att metoden gick att använda för att kategorisera idéflödet men att ett material som sträcker sig över många ämnen tenderar att sänka tillförlitligheten på resultatet. Vidare bedöms materialet som detta arbete har producerat kunna användas för att bättre ta tillvara på idéer, vilket uppskattas av Volvo Construction Equipment..

The society of spreading useful knowledge started to sell its magazine Reading for the People (RFP) in 1834. The idea with the society was to, through the magazine that contained useful knowledge, enlighten the Swedish peasantry. RFP contained articles about agricultural and economy for example.My goal with this essay is to investigate how the use of foreign articles in RFP changed over time. I?m also going to present a field and language categorization of the foreign articles and study the articles from Benjamin Franklin and Charles Dickens and investigate what kind of articles they wrote.

This theises aims to extend the understanding of how representation of gender is produced and reproduced in the young women?s magazine Frida. We examine this through analyzing pictures of male and female celebrities in a selected number of magazines from the year of 2013. We use a quantitative analysis of the pictures, as well as a supplementary quantitative analysis of ajectives used to describe male and female celebrities in captions. We research what types of patterns we can find in these analyses that construct representations of gender, also surveying how the celebrities in the magazine look.Our analysis shows us that the context of Frida contains several recurring visual patterns that preserves a representation of men being superior to women.

Quality, safe­ty and environmental care are three core values for Volvo and together they strive to give their customers the right product with the right quality.Volvo has developed a production system named Volvo Production System, VPS, and one of the pillars is continuous improvements. Within this pillar you can find value stream map­ping, which is used to analyze the value stream through the process. This tool gives a wide perspective and helps to keep focus on the entire process instead of just parts of it.Volvo Penta in Vara has earlier done value stream mapping but without good results since they didn?t take set-up times and imbalances in account.

The purpose of this study is to determine who visits the V Frölunda Library, Gothenbug,what magazines they read and why. The data presented in this thesis are collectedusing four methods: general observation and counting numbers of visitors, interviewswith 202 magazine readers, the completion of 1308 questiomaires regarding approximately350 maghes and interviews with more than 100 library visitors.The data indicates that men are significantly overrepresented among magazine readersas compared to the female visitors. These men are primarily from the white collar sectorof the community. This leads to a pronounced underrepresentation of the blue coIlarworkers. Young people visit the magazine room in the library at a rate about twice thatexpected from the population distribution.Women are primarily interested in magazines dealing with the home whereas men aremore interested in business, cars, boats and sports.

The purpose of this paper is to explore how masculinity and femininity are constructed in the magazine Veckorevyn, through a critical discourse analysis of 18 articles from six issues in 2011. This is done by using a variety of theories and previous research results, which is gender theory, the theory of late-modern society and media theory. The analysis shows that Veckorevyn depicts virility and feminine differently. Furthermore, pointing the results from the analysis that a change of manhood and womanhood takes place in the social practice. The selection of articles from the magazine also shows that Veckorevyn seems to promote gender equality. .

Uppdraget var att undersöka huruvida det är möjligt att införa fasta flyttider efter slutmontering på Volvo Bussar AB. Undersökningar i verksamheten har visat på att det finns stora kvalitets- och materialbrister som hindrar verkligt effektiva flöden. Examensarbetet resulterade i två tekniska förslag, med utgångspunkt i två olika scenarion. Det första förslaget är att verksamheten ligger kvar i de lokaler de idag förfogar över, men fasta flyttider införs. Det andra förslaget är att stegen efter slutmontering flyttas ihop med de aktiviteter som ligger före slutmonteringen.

Rapporten betraktar energisystemen vid Göteborg Energi (GE) och Volvo Cars, Torslanda. De två systemen integreras som ett system och inverkan av olika åtgärder betraktas. Huvudsyftet är att minska systemkostnaden för det totala systemet.Arbetet är genomfört med kraftbonusmetoden, en marginalsyn på el där all ny elproduktion beräknas ersätta kolkondensproducerad el. Allokeringen för utsläpp vid kraftvärmeproduktion är också beräknad med kraftbonusmetoden.För simulering har optimeringsprogrammet Modest använts. En konstruktion av datormodeller av energisystemen vid Göteborg Energi och Volvo Cars har gjorts.

Background: The literature concerning M&A has thus far concentrated on the merging companies, and on what kind of effects an acquisition has on these companies. The effects on the involved companies´ (customers and) suppliers have largely been ignored in the M & A literature. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to describe and analyse how the suppliers relationships to the aquired company are influenced by an acquisition and how the suppliers handle the following situation. Method: The paper has been carried out in the form of a case-study and we have interviewed some suppliers to the automotive industry. Results: The full effect on the suppliers relationships to Volvo has not been seen yet, due to the fact that only two years has passed since the acquisition and that the current products have a lifecycle of 3-5 years.

I den här kandidatuppsatsen undersöks storytelling som kommunikationsform på Volvo Personvagnar. Studien presenterar organisationsberättelser som karaktäriserar företaget samt dess funktioner och betydelser. Vidare lyfter studien fram storytelling som verktyg för att påverka en publiks uppfattningar. Inspiration till ämnet inhämtas från nutida forskare och storytelling relateras till kommunikativa uttryck och meningsskapande.Studiens empiri består av intervjuer av anställda på Volvo samt pr-konsulter med inblick i företaget. Empirin innefattar även en semiotisk analys av reklamannonser.
