The great bustard (Otis tarda) became extinct in Sweden during the mid-19th century. Globally, populations have suffered dramatic declines during the past two centuries. Recently, local populations have stabilized or increased after hunting bans and conservation efforts. Despite positive trends the species is still classified by IUCN as vulnerable (VU), mainly due to withdrawals in the distribution. The limited distribution emphasizes the need for finding ?new? areas suitable for a translocation or reintroduction.

The United States use of Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAV) or drones for targeted killings of terrorists has been on the rise in recent years and the method has become the core element of president Obamas strategy in the war against terror. This study examines the deterrent effect of targeted killings on terrorism using UCAV/drones as a method of counterterrorism. Building on the literature on counterterrorism, UCAV, targeted killings, deterrence theory and statistics on terrorism the study provides a case study of the CIA drone operations in Pakistan between the years 2004-2010. The goal has been to analyze drone operations and the extent of terrorism from the beginning of the drone campaign until 2010. This as a means of identifying possible trends in terrorism activity due to the occurrence of drone strikes.

This thesis concerns partial discharges in stator windings and the possibility of analyzing data using statistical methods. Partial discharges, or PD, are a physical phenomenon in which discharges occur locally due to large electric fields. PD can occur in or adjacent to the insulation of stator windings and causes breakdown of the insulating materials. PD measurement can provide an idea of how widespread the PD activity is. A technique to measure and analyze PD that has become very popular over the last few decades is phase resolved PD patterns.

SammandragSyftet med denna litteraturstudie var att kartlägga forskning om hur fysikundervisningkan utföras utanför klassrummet och avser undervisningen i årskurs F-6.Frågeställningarna har besvarats med hjälp av en systematisk litteraturstudie idatabaserna Google Scholar, ERIC, avhandlingar.se, NorDiNa och DiVA. Resultatenvisar att stora delar av kursplanen i fysik går att tillämpa utanför klassrummet och detområde som berörs mest i litteraturen är kopplat till undervisning om kraft ochrörelse. Många platser utomhus kan användas för undervisningen i fysik, t.ex.skolgården, som är det vanligaste exemplet, men även, tivolin, nöjesparker, museumoch utställningar. Bland annat lyfts fördelarna med att bedriva undervisning i enautentisk miljö samt möjligheten att bättre fånga elevernas intresse för fysik fram.Utmaningarna handlar främst om kompetensutveckling hos pedagogerna, både inomämnet fysik och om utomhuspedagogik generellt..

This Masters thesis concerns epistemology in Knowledge Organization KO, as a field of study in Library and Information Science LIS. Using a theoretical model by Birger Hjørland and foucauldian discourse analysis as springboards, this study analyses three epistemological discourses in the practice of KO. The aim of the study is to show how these discourses are constituted and demarcated in relation to KO, as well as to examine how they fit into Hjørlands model. A brief historical outline of some epistemological trends in LIS is sketched, as well as examples of how different epistemological schools influence different parts of KO, e.g. information retrieval, indexing- and classification theory.

At the time being there is limited experience within turbine decommissioning in Sweden and the economic effects are unknown. Despite this, there are expectations that revenues generated by sales of materials will cover decommissioning costs. The model developed identifies thirteen parameters that vary between different types of turbines and that affect the economic consequences of decommissioning. The three most important parameters are turbine location, tower material, and the scope of decommissioning. Trends in the wind energy industry show that these three factors are developing in a manner that increases decommissioning costs dramatically.

The health care is an important part of the welfare services in Sweden. Therefore it is of large interest that it is well performing. A part of this is related to how the health care is organized. This essay examines how the Swedish health care has been organized between 1960 and 1990 and what organizational changes that have been made to the health care. It shows that the Swedish health care has un-dergone many organizational changes the last decades.

The aim of this study is to investigate the situation in Romania concerning trafficking for sexual purposes. We look at what affect the European Union has had relating to this matter, in order to conclude what a membership implies on the fight against trafficking. A gender perspective is apparent throughout the essay and new institutionalism leads us to focus on the affect of the EU, both formally and informally. Questions to be answered revolves around the EU:s strategy against trafficking, recent trends and the implementation of the strategy in Romania, formally and informally. The study has the form of a case study and is conducted through a field study in Romania.

I den här undersökningen ser vi på användningen av Twitter i tre små? och medelstora företag. Promotionmixen användes som plattform, vilken består av reklam, sales promotion, personlig försäljning, public relations och direkt marknadsföring, för att kunna fastställa till vad Twitter används. Syftet är att beskriva och skapa en förståelse för hur Twitter används, med hjälp av promotionmixen.

Academic research concerning how to determine the power situation in a supply chain where an investment product supplier is involved did not exist. Therefore new models has been developed that analyses the power relations and maps out the power situation in a supply chain. In the future these models can be applied on similar cases by modifying the included parameters. The new models show that case company FAS should focus on the big producers of garbage bag which are Trioplast, Rullpack and Miljösäck. By strengthen the brand FAS can make more money in these relations.

The purpose of this study is to explore how different discourses about risk linked to HIV prevention is likely to affect the decisions on the distribution of state funding for preventive activities aimed at 'men who have sex with men' (MSM). This by making qualitative interviews with principals that have an impact on this decision. Using a discourse analytic approach, based on both theoretical and methodological foundations, I investigate the discursive constructions of risk of HIV linked to certain groups and behaviors. MSM is found in the material placed into two different formations of groups, on one hand by the behavior on the other hand on the basis of identity. The identity position is organized discursively from a ?victim? position while MSM provides an "operator" position.

This study sets out to investigate how the roll of the teacher is constructed in the Swedish Teachers? Unions trade publication. Based on the theory of social constructionism we have used the method of critical discourse analysis to establish dominant trends and patterns in how the roll of teacher is constructed in editorials in Swedish Lärarnas Tidning. We have established that the conflict between a modernist school tradition and a postmodern society has resulted in a dominant, traditional teacher discourse which is being simultaneously challenged by both a market-orientated discourse and a professionalization discourse. Furthermore, we attempt to highlight how these ?ideal? constructions can create problems in terms of identity construction for teachers.

Föreliggande studie syftar till att undersöka upplevda effekter och konsekvenser av en livsstilutbildning ur ett deltagarperspektiv, ett anordnande perspektiv och ett organisatorisktperspektiv. Detta med anledning av ett ökat fokus från samhället på ett hållbart arbetsliv. Resultatet baseras på både kvantitativa och kvalitativa metoder och utgår från två resultatinriktade utvärderingsmodeller och en aktörsfokuserad utvärderingsmodell. Datainsamling har skett i form av gruppintervjuer, enskilda intervjuer samt enkät. Mot bakgrund av livsstilsutbildningens uppsatta mål har analysen av kvalitativa data skett genom kategorisering, den kvantitativa delen har analyserats genom internetverktyget Google Docs.

Syftet med vårt examensarbete var att undersöka hur tiden organiseras kring perioden runt frukost inom barnomsorgen. Utifrån detta ställdes fråga om vad som styr tiderna för frukost till personalen samt en fråga till vårdnadshavare hur deras barn tas emot under frukosttiden. Ämnet undersöktes i en kombinerad kvantitativ och kvalitativ studie vilken genomfördes med hjälp av sociala media. Webbenkäter delades ut till en grupp pedagoger, till en grupp föräldrar samt i en vanlig statusuppdatering på Facebook. Empirin samlades in genom Google Drive och bearbetades i kalkylprogrammen Excel 2013 och SPSS version 20.
