The United States use of Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAV) or drones for targeted killings of terrorists has been on the rise in recent years and the method has become the core element of president Obamas strategy in the war against terror. This study examines the deterrent effect of targeted killings on terrorism using UCAV/drones as a method of counterterrorism. Building on the literature on counterterrorism, UCAV, targeted killings, deterrence theory and statistics on terrorism the study provides a case study of the CIA drone operations in Pakistan between the years 2004-2010. The goal has been to analyze drone operations and the extent of terrorism from the beginning of the drone campaign until 2010. This as a means of identifying possible trends in terrorism activity due to the occurrence of drone strikes.

Purpose The purpose of our study was to investigate the changing nature of volatility during the last 80 years. Like in an American study, we tried to find some trends in the risk of stocks and bonds that would have an impact on the balance of a portfolio of stocks and bonds. At the same time we investigated the influence of inflation on the choice of portfolio. Methods We have used standard statistic tools and formulas to obtain our results. In most cases it was a matter of calculating average and standard deviation.

This study investigates the evolution of depictions of Maoist China in Swedish history textbooks from 1970 to 2010. Through examining textbooks from this period, 20 years before the end of the cold war and 20 years after it, this study aims to investigate how quickly and how radically textbooks can change in their depictions of controversial and significant historical periods. Comparing descriptions of both people, tumultuous events, and general trends in China under Mao's rule, this study finds significant differences in how the textbooks describe Maoist China. While textbooks in the 1970s give a largely positive, sympathetic and hopeful view of China, during the 1990s and 2000s that perspective has been overtaken by an overwhelmingly critical view of Mao and his rule, focusing on his failures and dictatorial rule. The findings add to a somewhat divided field of research on the adaptability of textbooks, leaning toward the idea that textbooks can change rapidly during times of turmoil in a society..

Even though the statistics of bad health somewhat have dropped, the problems still remain. Examensarbetet redogör för byggproduktionsplanering med en fördjupning inom tidsplaneringsmetoder- och verktyg, vilka kan användas som hjälpmedel inom området.  Inom fördjupningen gjordes två praktiska försök och intervjuer genomfördes för att få en verklig bild av hur planeringen fungerar, samt för att få feedback på försöken.  Arbetet resulterade i slutsatsen att olika planeringsmetoder bör användas i olika skeden av byggproduktionsplaneringen, samt att de olika planeringsmetoderna är till olika nytta för de varierande arbetsrollerna i en byggorganisation.  Man kan med fördel använda sig av en kombination av planeringsmetoderna, CPM, LOB och den relativt okända ?Kontinuitetsmetoden? när man planerar och styr sin byggproduktion.

Fokus ligger på två primära varianter av ajax vid namn push, pull och syftet är att undersöka varför, när man bör använda teknikerna och hur de mäter sig emot varandra.Med intresset för hur dagens mer interaktiva webbapplikationer så som twitter, google hanterar tekniken så kändes det relevant att undersöka push respektive pull-tekniken inom javascript.För att kunna undersöka teknikerna har en webbapplikation i form av en communitysida skapats med fokus på korrekt implementation av funktioner för både push och pull-teknik. Applikationen utvecklades med hjälp av ett ramverk vid namn Websync för att kunna demonstrera när push-tekniken på webben kan vara lämplig.Resultatet visar att det är viktigt att tänka på var man implementerar de olika teknikerna och varför. En prestandamätning från en tidigare undersökning togs med och skärmdumpar illustrerar några funktionerna i applikationen..

Cloud computing är en teknik som möjliggör åtkomst till data och lagring av data genom Internet, exempelvis genom Spotify, Google Drive och Dropbox. Denna teknik utnyttjas av företag som gör det möjligt att använda sig av affärssystem som en tjänst via cloud computing. Det har dock visat sig finnas förtroendebrister för den här typen av tjänst bland företag och många tvekar till att använda sig av detta istället för mer traditionella affärsystem. Dessa förtroendebrister kan påverka kundrelationen mellan leverantör och användare för den här typen av tjänst. Med denna uppsats ämnar vi svara på hur företag arbetar med sina kundrelationer och vi ämnar även ge förslag på hur dessa kundrelationer kan stärkas för att förbättra förtroendet för den här typen av tjänst.

The aim of this study is, using the Swedish expression ?kulturtant? (cultured lady) as starting point, to understand how and why women consume the products of the culture industry more eagerly than men. The study is using the concepts put forward by Pierre Bourdieu; fields, capital and habitus. It is a qualitative study based on discussions in focus groups, interviews and material gathered through Google Alerts. In the literature this gap between the sexes with regard to the higher consumption on behalf of women has been referred to as the ?puzzle? of women´s cultural consumption.The empirical results show that the women in the study are well aware of what they want to gain by participating in cultural activities like reading, going to concerts, watching plays or going to the movies.

Den ökade prevalensen av diabetes mellitus typ 1 är ett globalt problem och Sverige är ett av de landen med högst prevalens. Diabetes är en sjukdom som den drabbade får leva med resten av livet. Ungdomen kan vara en problematisk tid då det är vanligt att ungdomarna missköter sin diabetes. Under denna tid är det viktigt att ha bra kontakter och stöd i relationer till närstående och vårdpersonal. Syftet med detta arbete är att belysa hur ungdomar beskriver sina erfarenheter av att leva med diabetes typ 1.

Purpose: the study?s overall purpose is to investigate what possibilities and risks that can be connected to an outsourcing decision and how the order of the service will handle the risks. The study will also investigate what management philosophy that will be used and regulate the outsourcing relation and how the company?s strategy will affect the decision and how the process of outsourcing will look like.

A historical study of intervention for aphasia may provide information on how speech and language pathologists work with people with aphasia. Aphasia is seen as an umbrella term for symptoms of language disorders caused by aquired brain injury. The overall aim of the present study was to describe and analyze the development of intervention for aphasia during the periods 1990-1999 and 2000-2010.The study was conducted by analysis of 83 medical records from two hospitals in Sweden during a period of 20 years. These decades were compared to each other and yo current litteraturein search for differences and trends in aphasia intervention.The Results of the present study revealed that intervention mainly focused on recovering the linguistic ability in both the 1990s and 2000s. Intervention and literature focusing on communication seem to increase during the 2000s.
