Since the abrupt ending of the Cold Wars the international system of politics has been dominated by the unipolar United States. Leading scholars within structural realism sees this stage as just a temporary condition for various reasons. They also target China as aspirant to embody the role of a balancer against USA and pole in a bi- or multipolar system. Some even argue they are destined for superpower.With the help of realisms definition of power I estimate U.S., China's and India's Capabilities and judge their potential superpower. I then go on to connect structural realism and role theory to estimate their different statuses in the system.

Urban operations is one of the most difficult challenges a modern army can be tasked with. These challenges have been studied in history and present with various perspectives, but rarely from a combat engineering point of view. The purpose of this thesis has been to study the urban Capabilities of a Swedish combat engineer company by examining if it can perform similar combat engineering fieldwork that supported the basic Capabilities mobility, defence and effect in Operation AL FAJR, Fallujah Iraq 2004. These are the Capabilities a Swedish engineer company are primarily designed to support in urban operations.For example, the study of Operation AL FAJR has shown that fieldwork supported mobility with breaching minefields, obstacles, walls and doors. Defence by creating defensive positions and obstacles.

The purpose of this investigation is to find out how the children?s exercises affect their learning Capabilities. With exercise, I mean all kinds of movements, like physics, walks and games.The method I will use in this investigation is interviews, where I choose to interview both teachers and their pupils at a school which uses an exercise-program called röris. Röris is an exercise program which involves moving to music. I also choose to look at Bunkefloprojektet, were scientists has investigated how the power of concentration is affected by exercise.My conclusion from the interviews and the literature is that I can?t prove that the children?s exercises affect their learning Capabilities.

The use of computer games has grown exponentially in the past few years and StarCraft II is one of the most popular e-sports today, played by millions of people worldwide. This study investigates the game?s effect on skills, as perceived by the players of StarCraft II.The study was conducted by using an empirical survey and interviews. The skills being investigated were both physical and mental in their nature. The conclusion was that the majority of players perceived that their skills regarding reaction speed, multitasking, APM, analysis and strategy were increased the most, while there was a smaller change in social skills and language skills.

This essay aims to examine Martha Nussbaum's proposal for a classical defense of reform in liberal education and her critique of utility thinking in higher education. I want to explore how Nussbaum uses history to create an ethical alternative that cultivates both moral and intellectual virtues, which she considers to be crucial for the survival of democracy. In examining Nussbaum's use of Aristotle, I focus on her work as a proposal for institutional implementation of an Aristotelian epistemology and the cultivation of the individual as an ethical political subject. This study highlights the epistemological, educational and political ideas that form the basis of Nussbaum's ideals. I intend, however, to go beyond a contextualizing reading and thus establish a dialogue with a radical intersubjectivity to respond to Nussbaum's ambitions to recognize human vulnerabilities as assets for reason.

With a thorough case study of ?The Grand Hotel in Lund? ,our intentions is to gain knowledge about the demands a hotel must keep up with in order to be a successful independent hotel, in a market dominated by chain-constellations. Methodology: An abductive method is used as the study form the basis for hypothesis. The first part of the thesis, which describes the line of business, is based primary on secondary data.

Det är dock inte helt enkelt som enskilt, mindre företag att exportera sina produkter. Detta arbete syftar till att lyfta fram framgångsfaktorer hos livsmedelsföretag som redan är väletablerade på den internationella marknaden och som under en tid har bedrivit en framgångsrik exportverksamhet. Det är en kvalitativ studie och det empiriska materialet är baserat på tre semistrukturerade telefonintervjuer med livsmedelsföretag från Halland och Skåne. Begreppen resurs, nisch och ??Dynamic Capabilities?? samt ramverket VRIO har varit viktiga vid analysen.

The aim of this study was twofold; firstly it sought to describe the human security situation of Roma IDPs and IDPs living in collective centers, secondly it tried to create an understanding for how the human security situation can affect IDPs Capabilities to develop. The findings of the study were mainly based on a field study conducted in Belgrade, Serbia for two months. The results of the study were that IDPs in collective centers have a poor human security situation regarding basic income, employment, adequate housing and experienced personal security. Roma IDPs suffer from the same insecurities, but in addition also has poor human security in basic education and personal safety. Their stagnant human security situation proved to be the result of the inability to help IDPs by the actors involved in the relief work.

The purpose of this paper was to examine the inflation hedging Capabilities of property shares. A common notion is that property is a good hedge against inflation. Indeed, positive correlations have been found for direct investments and inflation. However, property shares are generally perceived as a perverse inflation hedge. From underwater boat to submarine ? The development of the Swedish submarine service 1945-1960 The scope of this essay is the development of the Swedish submarine service during the period 1945-1960. The aim is to answer the following questions:- What kind of new technology did Sweden acquire when salvaging the German type XXI submarine off Gothenburg at the end of World War II?- In what respect did this technology differ from that of the Royal Swedish Navy and did it subsequently contribute to the tactical and operational development?- What tactical and operational development was accomplished between 1945-1960?The timeframe, 1945-1960, was chosen since this is when the analysis of the salvaged type XXI submarine and related effects was conducted. Furthermore, it is also during this time that the Swedish submarine service is beginning to evolve as a result of the new knowledge mentioned above and the experiences made by both the allies and the Germans during World War II.The theoretical framework primarily refers to the theories on naval warfare by Sir Julian Corbett.

With an estimated 250 ethnic groups, Nigeria, no doubt, has been grappling with the problem of pluralism of ethnic nationalities. It is not news in Nigeria that extreme ethnic consciousness of its citizens has led to the victimization of one ethnic group by another. This victimization has come in the form of exclusions in the distribution of both wealth and power in the country.Amidst all the exclusions, the unity of the country has been ironically regarded as sacrosanct, and should not be negotiated. It is often said that fate brought all the ethnic nationalities in order to form one great country. I subscribe to this belief that fate brought us together for the above purpose, especially now that several countries around the world are merging in one way or the other to form a formidable force to reckon with both politically and economically.

Denna uppsats handlar om religiös slakt och hur etiskt försvarbara den judiska kosherslakten och den muslimska halalslakten är, detta utifrån ett människorättsperspektiv i jämförelse med ett djurrättsperspektiv. Uppsatsen utgår till stor del utifrån författaren Martha C Nussbaums teorier kring människors rättigheter och djurs rättigheter, där hon i båda ämnena tar upp ?the capability approach?, som handlar om vad varje människa och djur som ett minimum, för vad ett värdigt liv kräver, har rätt till. I uppsatsen finns även avsnitt om kosher- respektive halalslakt samt ett kapitel om jordbruksverkets syn på konventionell slakt och dess innebörd men också deras syn på kosher- och halalslaktI analysen, analyseras de olika delarna för att försöka hitta svar på min frågeställning. Analysen inleds med ett människoperspektiv utifrån, ?the Capabilities approach?, där jag analyserar konsekvensen av ett förbud mot kosher- och halalslakt.
