This paper focuses on the Swedish Migration discourse and investigates if and to what extent it is dominated by a security perspective. Analysing a number of official texts and documents I want to show how the discourse describes migrants and what implications this carries with it for the migrants and for the Swedish Migration politics. Through discourse analysis I have analysed whose security that is prioritised, the Swedish or the refugees, who is the refugee and the asylum seeker, and who is the illegal migrant in the Swedish official Migration discourse. As a theoretical frame for the analysis I have used theories on Migration and security. These include theories on the securitisation of politics, the globalisation and the creation of political identity from the nation state perspective and theories on the connection between Migration and security. My results show that a security discourse is dominating the Swedish official Migration discourse and is therefore defining our reality and the identities of refugees, asylum seekers and illegal migrants.

The purpose of the essay is to examine the views on sexuality that guide the Swedish Migration board and court?s judgments and decisions in asylum cases. The essay investigates seven cases from the Swedish Migration court regarding asylum seekers from seven different countries seeking protection in Sweden due to their sexuality and/or gender identity. By applying discourse analysis, along with the theoretical perspectives of Judith Butler and the postcolonial critique of Chandra Talpade Mohanty, the essay discuss what kind of criteria and/or practice is demanded of the asylum seekers to be rendered as trustworthy. The essay concludes that the asylum seekers are considered untrustworthy by the Migration authorities when not acting according to a (hetero)normative sexuality.

Selection of habitat and resources during migration by a large mammal : a case study of moose in northern Sweden

Migration is a worldwide phenomenon that has occurred for thousands of years in a vast variety of species. The general knowledge of migrating animals is poor even though billions of animals from a range of different groups migrate every year. The human impact on migrating ungulates is high and many populations are declining globally due to direct and indirect causes. Hence it becomes vital to study the Migration phase and the habitat and resources selected during Migration. The objective with this study was to identify the habitat characteristics and resource selection of moose during Migration and compare the selection between different seasons and utilization distribution (relative frequency distribution for the points of location of an animal over a period of time) categories.

Anglosaxarna och Brittanien : Kulturell Identitet hos ett Migrerande Folk

Many questions are still left unanswered regarding the period c. 450-700 AD, when hordes of Anglo-Saxon migrants landed on the British Isles and by doing so made the starting point in the foundation of England. Who were these Germanic tribes? The theories of how the Migration proceeded are today many. The two major theories today concerns whether it was a question of a mass Migration or a gradual Migration proceeded by smaller groups of military elite.

The purpose of this essay is to describe and partly explain the Migration from a German city, and to illustrate the political difficulty surrounded by the phenomenon.I?ve composed following question issues to fulfill the purpose of the study:1.How does the Migration take form in Cottbus?2.Why do the students want to migrate?3. Do the politicians consider the Migration as a problem? What kind of measures do they want to introduce to prevent it?The survey has been done with mainly qualitative research methods, but it contains some quantitative elements.I?ve made an opinion poll survey among students in Cottbus, interviews with politicians at the city council and interviews with four students that have already left the city. The results of the study show that the will to migrate is widespread by the students in Cottbus. It?s first and foremost the chance to get a job that drives the students to migrate. The city has a deficit of 180 million Euros in household, which makes the politicians to feel helpless, facing the problem of Migration.

The survival of hatchery reared smolts is generally low after release. To get a better understanding of what variables affecting Migration success, Atlantic salmon smolts were studied during their out-Migration in the old river channel in the lower part of river Umeälven. The area consists of shifting habitat and complex structures which causes difficulties for smolt on their Migration out to sea. The aim of this study was to try to determine the effects of feed restriction, fin conditions and different physical barriers in the river, on the migratory behavior of Atlantic salmon smolts in the river Umeälven. The river was divided into six different sections using acoustic receivers strategically deployed along the river. Two-year old hatchery-reared smolts (n=150), in three different weight classes, were tagged with acoustic transmitters.
