Facilitated by the breakthrough of the internet, new ways of organizing internet-based projects that harness the power of the crowds are becoming increasingly common. Today there are ways of using the crowd as paid labour, as funders of your new project ventures and even for helping scientists doing science. Staying true to its traditional principles of objectivity and trustworthiness while asking the crowd to contribute, crowd generated ?Citizen Science? does not provide even the slightest amount of pay in exchange for the time and effort put in by their contributors. Surely there can not be many people willing to do such a thing voluntarily? Actually, practice is showing the exact opposite with contributions counted in their millions among the more popular Citizen Science projects.

Att skapa karaktärer i en animation eller ett spel som publiken får sympati för och känner är levande, är ett avancerat och komplext arbete. Det finns dessutom en mängd olika tips och råd för att skapa en karaktär, att det kan kännas övermäktigt och svårt att sålla i. I denna uppsats kommer syftet därför ligga i att undersöka om det finns en fungerande formel för att skapa en lyckad och livfull karaktär. Syftet kommer även att bestå i att undersöka om denna formel av att skapa en karaktär går att tillämpa på både film- och spelkaraktärer. Dessa frågeställningar kommer att besvaras genom en litteraturstudie följt av en empirisk studie, ?Science fiction in space?, där dessa tips och råd kommer att prövas för att se om den formel som här lyfts fram är lyckosam.

Virtual Communities is an increasingly common phenomenon on the Internet. Most of the Virtual Communities are operated and maintained on a non-profit basis with a direction towards entertainment. However, as more state administrated and commercial services become web-based, we believe that the number of Virtual Communities with a community-based or commercial direction will increase in a near future. In this thesis, we describe our participation in, and studies of, a number of Virtual Communities with focus on the IRC-channel ?3dfxsweden?. On the basis of our experiences, we describe the social elements that form the foundation on which the Virtual Community rely on.

The information market is constantly changing. With new and improved information technology more people get access to more information faster. However, the number of people educated to handle information also increases. Business intelligence has for a long time been a well-known tool for companies to be competitive. Because of the increased access to information the competition between companies has intensified and more people have become aware of the advantages of business intelligence and how it can help them compete.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to examine how the literature criticism are in the Swedish media in the reception of the novel Mosquitoes and tigers from 2007 written by the Swedish author Maja Lundgren. A second aim is to examine how master suppression techniques have been used by the literature critics in the newspaper debate. This qualitative study is based upon a total of 52 articles and reviews from five big Swedish newspapers. The theoretical approach, literature criticism, mainly originates from the Swedish professor in Literature Science Tomas Forser and the literature scholar Gunnar Hansson.

Syftet med uppsatsen är öka förståelsen för hur en svensk upplever skillnader och likheter i det danska ledarskapet. Den empiriska undersökningen grundar sig på tio semistrukturerade intervjuer med svenskar som har gedigen erfarenhet av ledarskap i både Sverige och Danmark. Resultatet visar att det finns skillnader och likheter i ledarskapet mellan Sverige och Danmark. Studien visar, att för att bli framgångsrik med att leda och arbeta i Danmark är det centralt att lära känna och förstå den danska kulturen. För att underlätta förståelsen för skillnaderna och likheterna har vi utifrån studiens resultat sammanställt en modell, tio teser när du som svensk ska leda och arbeta i Danmark, som visar på resultatets mest centrala resonemang..

The aim of this two years master's thesis is to examine whether there are any gender based differences in the waymale and female researchers within library and information science publish and reference to other researchers.This within the Swedish context. Further, the aim is to examine the probability of gender playing a part in choiceof subject, which thereby also would effect the act of referencing. This is achieved through an analysis ofreference lists in the journal Svensk Biblioteksforskning between the years 1989 to 2009. The journal containsboth peer reviewed articles, as well as articles of a more popular scientific kind. As guidance during the study, ahandful of questions were used.

In this Bachelor thesis I explore sound and room as elements in design of user interfaces, both theoretical and practical in a specific application domain, to identify some of the advantages and disadvantage associated with these elements. As application domain I studied email clients and their usage at home amongst students at Blekinge Institute of Technology. In the study I found an activity, which seems to be highly distributed in the physical room where the user is located. The activity was notification of email and could take place in an arbitrary location of the home. I then augmented this activity with ideas from my theoretical assumption about room and sound. The result was a rule-based agent for notification of email, which primarily uses sound as interaction style..

Studiens teoretiska utgångspunkt är att det inte enbart går att analysera en maktordning utan att även ta hänsyn till andra maktordningar.Jag har utgått ifrån Maria Nikolajevas uppställning av stereotypt manliga och kvinnliga egenskaper, Roberta Seelinger Trites teorier om hur makt fungerar både förtryckande och frigörande för subjektet, samt Sanna Lehtonens teorier om normbildning kring klass som identitetskategori.I uppsatsen kommer jag fram till att karaktärernas egenskaper är mer kopplade till deras klass, och mindre till deras kön. Flickan från överklassen sätter större värde på sig själv, medan pojken från underklassen värderar sig själv lägre. Hon har även haft tillgång till utbildning som gjort henne snabb, stark och rationell, medan han inte är lika tränad som hon är och därmed mer känslostyrd.Klassresor möjliggörs av socialt och kulturellt kapital samt trogenhet gentemot landet de lever i.Karaktärerna påverkas av möten med andra klasser på så sätt att de omvärderar synen på sig själva samt förhandlar med den makt de blivit tilldelade..

Thisthesis is a study of female politicians and power in Sweden and in the Philippines. Do thefemale politicians perceive that they have just as much power as the males have? I haveinterviewed 18 female politicians in a small city in Sweden, and 12 female politicians in thelocal and provincial politic in the Philippines.

In public libraries there seems to be an unspoken consensus on what literary quality is. At the same time librarians are always eager to express the opinion that quality lies in the eye of the beholder. Quality is, it is said, something that you don t have to define. But at the same time it s up to everyone to decide what quality means to them. What I have been missing from the discussion in libraries about literary quality is a theoretical awareness about what it means to divide literature into higher and lower spheres.

Inger Edelfeldt (1956) and Bengt Martin (1933-2010) are two Swedish writers of different generations. Both of them did, between the years 1968 to 1983, write about adolescent men coming to terms with their homosexuality. Edelfeldt wrote two versions of the same story, with slight but significant differences, the main being different implied readers (adult versus adolescent). Bengt Martin wrote about three young homosexual characters: Joakim, Bengt and Bengt. The story about Joakim is presented as fiction but bears many resemblances with Martin?s autobiography.

Denna studie undersöker hur lärare anser att de kan stärka elevers ord- och begreppsförståelse för att uppnå läroplanens kunskapskrav i det svenska språket. På grund av globaliseringen väljer många familjer att bostätta sig utomlands vilket medför att det bedrivs många svenska skolor runt om i världen. Studien utgår ifrån en svensk skola i England, där fyra lärare i de tidigare åren har intervjuats. Intervjuerna genomfördes via skype vilket medför både positiva och negativa konsekvenser för studien. Studien fokuserar bland annat på ord- och begreppsförståelse, lärarbakgrund, förväntningar samt elever med ett annat modersmål.

Teaching in pre-school usually takes its starting-point in children?s reality and curiosity. Apart from that it has also been important to take contains of a special subject under consideration, for example development of language and communication or mathematics development. The purpose of this study was to investigate how natural science as a special subject in pre-school education is expressed by five trainee teachers when they teach children at the age of 2-7. Generally the study focuses on the students? teaching actions as well as their line of argument about their teaching and the choices they have to make.
