This essay, called Motivation and reading comprehension, is a study of the correlation between the motivation to read and the reading comprehension of Swedish students in their final year of school before university level, meaning that they are eighteen or nineteen years old, sometimes more.The relation between the identity of the individual and the learning process has been a matter of scientific interest for some time, and this essay works in that tradition by investigating the connection between how pupils regard reading and how well developed their ability to decode text is.The reading comprehension is measured through a test that consists of a text from the Swedish epic by Vilhelm Moberg, Invandrarna, where the reader at certain intervals throughout the text is asked to mark the correct word from a choice of three. This test has been used and evaluated extensively by Per Fröjd, who has found that the results are reliable and useful.To measure the motivation to read I?ve constructed a survey to be answered before taking the reading test. It focuses on three different parts of reading motivation that are noted as the most important ones by Ivar Bråten. These are the feeling of joy and interest for reading, the goal to acquire knowledge of a specific subject, and the expectations that you have on yourself as a reader.Results show a weak or non-existent correlation between the two factors for the whole of the subjects, but once those who have a first language other than Swedish are removed the correlation becomes significant.

The Master Thesis work this report is based upon has been conducted in cooperation with Svea Teknik AB. Svea Teknik is a consultant firm which is developing parts of a tunnel boring machine on behalf of Atlas Copco. The machine is being developed to mechanically excavate hard rock by fixating itself in the tunnel and then press a large rotating cutter-wheel equipped with disc-cutters against the tunnel wall. The disc-cutters are the tools that are in direct contact with the hard rock and are therefore exposed to extensive wear and needs to be replaced on a regular basis.The purpose of this Master Thesis has been to develop a service equipment that will enable time effective and safe changes of disc-cutters. As a consequence of increasing wind power installations in the Nordic grid the last years, the need for regulating power has become larger. In the Nordic grid, regulating power is mainly provided by hydro power. One part of the regulating power is called frequency control, which ensures that the grid frequency is stable and close to 50 Hz.However, setting the turbine into frequency controlled operation may cause stress and wear of the components in the mechanical control system. Frequency controlling implies large and frequent servo forces and longer travelling distance of the sliding bearings in the Kaplan turbine.Based on one selected Kaplan turbine, Selsfors G1, measurements and MATLAB calculations have been performed in order to determine forces and movements of the linkage system. With these forces and movements as input, stresses and fatigue have been determined as well as sliding distances, bearing pressures and wear of bearings during a typical lifetime of 40 years.The results indicate that no severe wear exists on the bearings during 40 years of service.

För att transportera bränsle från tanken till motorn används på tunga fordon idag vanligen en mekanisk pump, driven av och placerad på motorn. Anledningen till att ha en direktdriven pump är främst att det anses som den mest robusta lösningen för den relativt enkla uppgiften som bränsletransport och liten tryckökning anses vara. För att klara av motorstart och driftsfall med höga bränsleflöden är dagens pump överdimensionerad för det behov som finns större delen av tiden.Önskvärt vore att kunna reglera bränslemängden kontinuerligt, för att minska pumparbetet i de punkter matarpumpen idag har överkapacitet. En elektrisk pump kan regleras att endast pumpa bränsle efter behov och erbjuder även andra fördelar, som t.ex. fri placering, möjlighet att använda en mindre pump och tilläggsfunktioner genom mjukvara, exempelvis priming och automatisk avluftning.Projektet har genomförts i form av en förstudie med konceptgenerering för placering av komponenter och provning av dagens system för kravspecifikation.

The master thesis ?Mechanical Integration of an IR-detector in a Micro Cooler? has beenperformed at FLIR Systems AB in Danderyd. FLIR Systems is a world leader in the design,manufacture and marketing of thermal imaging camera systems.The thesis project is divided into to two areas, Production Method and Noise.The Production Method concerns the positioning of a detector on the cold finger within the IRcamera.The detector has to be positiond with very high accuracy at the center of the cold finger,so it can be placed in line with the optical axis to avoid movement of the picture during zooming.The positioning of the detector is at present done with the help of specially designed guides on aplate on top of the cold finger. The design workes well but the special machining needed for thisplate is very expensive.The goal concerning the production method was to derive a new more cost effective method forthe assembling and positioning of the detector on the cold finger by replacing the guides on theplate with a reusable equipment or some other alignement operation.Several concept ideas have been generated with the help of concept generation methods in theform of concept classification trees and concept combinational tables. Two of these conceptswere selected to be further refined.

SAMMANFATTNING BAKGRUND Syftet med studien var att få information om anhörigas upplevelse av vården på en av fem geriatriska avdelningar i Uppsala län 2008. Studien undersökte upplevelsen av tillgäng­lighet, delaktig­het, information och bemötande. En jämförelse gjordes för att se om skill­nader fanns mel­lan den studerade avdelningen (grupp 1, n=39) och de tidigare studerade geriatriska avdelning­arna (grupp 2, n=162). METOD Studien är deskriptiv och jämförande med kvantitativ metod och analysen utfördes med deskriptiv statistik. Antal anhöriga som deltog var 39 av 50 tillfrågade (n=78 %).

Syftet med uppsatsen är att reflektera kring organisationen av pedagogiska miljöer i en tradi¬tionell förskola, i en Reggio Emilia inspirerad förskola och i en Montessori förskola.
