2008 antog kommunfullmäktige i Luleå kommun en vision för kommunens utveckling fram till år 2050. Visionen beskriver en önskad riktning och ska ligga till grund för fortsatt arbete med en ny översiktsplan för kommunen och stadskärnan. I Vision 2050 beskrivs Luleå stadskärna som en livfull plats hela dygnet som präglas av en mångfald av arbetsplatser, handel, bostäder och nöjen. Utgångspunkten för det här examensarbetet är att studera och analysera Luleå centrums förutsättningar och möjligheter för en stadskärna med en mångfald av verksamheter som inbjuder till rörelse och vistelse i det offentliga rummet. Analyserna baseras på observationer och inventeringar av utredningsområdet och på intervjuer med fem personer samt en Space syntax analys utifrån tre olika metoder för analys.

Specialpedagogens roll i skolutveckling. Från vision till vardag. Syftet med vårt arbete är att undersöka specialpedagogens roll när det gäller skolutveckling, utifrån ett skolledarperspektiv. Vi vill undersöka i vilka typer av skolutvecklingsfrågor specialpedagogisk kompetens efterfrågas. Vi har därför valt att intervjua tio rektorer, för att få deras syn på hur de använder sig av den specialpedagogiska kompetensen. Resultatet av vår undersökning visar att det finns ett stort behov av specialpedagogisk kompetens inom skolutvecklingsområdet. Visionen om en skola för alla ställer nya krav på de verksamma inom skolan.

The aim of this Master's thesis is to examine the theories and visions of five futuristic projects at children's libraries in Sweden and Denmark to investigate if these projects have approaches that are significantly different from today's best practices of the libraries and the current theories behind the children's sections.More specific questions are also asked:Are the projects taking advantage of the children's perspective or is it the adult vision of children's needs that is governing?Are the projects promoting collaborations with other actors, thereby facilitating a future development of the children's library by others than librarians?The comparisons reveal that new methods and tools are beeing developed, while the traditional ambitions and views on children and children's needs are essentially unchanged. The role of the library as a social room and meeting place has increased, while its role as a place for finding and transferring information has been challenged by Internet and home computers. The library can still compete as a public place offering relevant contents and assistance by attentive, well-educated adults.In conclusion, the futuristic projects are expected to promote greater variations between children's libraries, by presenting literature, media and information in many different and more innovative ways. Such greater diversity and multiplicity would allow the libraries to market themselves with a clearer message in order to compete with other (commercial) activities for children..

The usage of visions and strategies is something that helps an organisation to create an imaginary scenario and guide them of how to realize these goals. During the years of 2006-2008 Region Gotland presented a document that was supposed to show the region's visions. The theoretical framework of this thesis is based on the stakeholder theory, Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and Management Control Systems Package (MCS). Personal interviews were conducted within the organisation Region Gotland, with individuals whom are directly linked to the visions and strategies of the organisation. The purpose of this study is to clarify the concepts of vision and strategy, and what their impact is on the organisation's work on the operation level.

This master thesis aims to describe and examine Haninge cultural centre, inaugurated in 2002. We study the centre from an organization theory point of view, with focus on the buildings physical appearance. The question we want to answer is to what extent, and if, Haninge cultural centre fulfills the underlying vision, formulated by the municipality of Haninge. Is the centre the symbol of a new era of Haninge and a vivid democracy as it was meant to be? Is there a congruency between the image the building creates and the vision that was formulated by the municipality? We also seek out to see how the cultural centre relates to an older tradition of cultural centres.

Traditionally, mining has been performed mechanically with implementation ofyesterdays (and older) data. Several mining companies have started to useautonomous technology and robotics in the production areas although the harshmining environments make it unsuitable for today's electronic equipment. Despite allthe obstacles along the way of digitization, there seems to be no end in sight as thisdevelopment continues. This thesis focuses on what the mining industry is aiming forand why the mining companies are interested in these technologies. The actors of themining industry can be found to have a vision for the future mine, a production with ahigher degree of digitization and resemblances to a factory.

At night, the visibility is reduced and the demands on the driver increase. A safety system that enables the driver to discover warmer objects in the surroundings when the visibility are reduced, such as the Vision Enhancement System (VES) contributes to safer night-time driving. Since the benefits of this system are established, it is of interest to investigate different design aspects. The VES display has in earlier studies been positioned in front of the driver but different display positions such as peripheral placement should be evaluated. The present simulator study is an investigation of the effects of different display positions inside the car.

Rhetoric is a difficult discipline to define. For centuries, rhetoricians have argued and discussed the question: what is rhetoric? Over the past 20 years, Sweden has seen a new breed of companies enter the labor market - the rhetoric consultants. If the adverts are correct, these consultants will help you become a better speaker, a greater debater and a more critical and conscious listener. In other words, you can pay to become a greater rhetorician.

The aim of our thesis was to gain greater knowledge of how young people relate to religion, religiosity and life, and this behavior might show influences of a gender perspective. Part of the aim was also to have greater awareness of how our education should include a gender perspective. To get to this goal, we have assumed the qualitative investigation method which we discussed with a number of students who read last year of high school. First, the interviews were aimed to let students talk about matters concerning religion and life. The next step was to examine their thoughts with a gender perspective as a starting point.

In Malin Kivelä?s novel Du eller aldrig (2006) the reader experiences the world through the body of Aija, the narrator; a middle aged woman living in Helsinki. Aija has no family or other social relations. Hers is a life of strict routine: she spends her time reading, cleaning and studying snowflakes. Critics of the novel have stressed that Aija?s way of narrating creates a strong sense of presence in the text, but also that Aija?s atypical social behavior evokes a sense of loneliness and alienation.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the view of Finnish dialects and identity of first, second and third generation of Sweden Finns students in 7th, 8th and 9th graders, in two Sweden Finn schools. The questions at issue for the essay were: How do Swedes of Finnish extraction think of the Finnish dialects? Is there a correlation between identifying as Finnish and knowledge and usage of the Finnish dialects, as opposed to Finns living in Finland? To which extent do the Finnish students have knowledge regarding the Finnish dialects? To answer the questions a quantitative method was used and a questionnaire was answered by over 100 students. The results of the study showed that the Finnish dialects did not exert any influence on the students? life nor their sense of identity.

In this study, we have considered the impact the organization`s implementation of its vision of the psychosocial work enviroment has been for the relations between the employees. We have primarily relied on a hermeneutic approach to understand our empirical data, and when we have interpreted and made a socialpsycological analysis on our collected empirical data. We have used Smith´s Institutional Ethnography, Sheff`s Social bonds and Asplund`s theory of Social responsivity. To collect the empirical data we have combined quantitative and qualtitative methods and a textanalysis at a visiondocument in the aim of capture both the depht and the breadth of our chosen fields of study. The results we have found shows that the psycosocial work environment within the organization can be seen as interplay between individual and enviroment and between individuals as well and that this interaction is influenced by the organizational culture that is created by the organization`s political vision.

Bakgrund: Ledarskap är ett omfattande begrepp med skiftande definitioner. Ledarskap kan ge föreställningen av inflytelserika, driftiga personer som påverkar både organisationen och dess medarbetare. För att dels fördjupa oss inom ledarskapsområdet och dels finna vad som kan ligga bakom en ledares unika förmåga att nå ut till sin omgivning valde vi att studera Jan Stenbeck. Många har en åsikt om honom och han beskrivs som en karismatisk, mäktig person med en stark vision. Syfte: Uppsatsens syfte är att genom de tre valda perspektiven karisma, vision och makt studera Jan Stenbeck som ledare samt därmed diskutera vad som gjorde honom inflytelserik.

This is a thesis written for a master's degree at the Computer Vision Laboratory, University of Linköping. An abstract outer product is defined and used as a bridge to reach 2:nd and 4:th order tensors. Some applications of these in geometric analysis of range data are discussed and illustrated. In idealized setups, simple geometric objects, like spheres or polygons, are successfully detected. Finally, the generalization to n:th order tensors for storing and analysing geometric information is discussed..
