The swedish law against female genital mutilation (FGM) prohibits procedures that removes parts of the female genitalia and thereby makes permanent changes in the body. The problem with the wording of the law is that it may also apply to the western phenomenon cosmetic genital surgery. This paper therefore examines if cosmetic genital surgery should be covered by the swedish law against FGM, by making a critical comparing analysis. The paper begins with comparing FGM with cosmetic genital surgery to prove that there are more similarities than differences between the procedures. By using the theoretical perspectives universalism and postcolonialism, the paper then examines why, particularly in the West, there is a different approach to FGM than to cosmetic genital surgery, regardless of the similarities of the procedures.

This report is an analysis of the gender representation in Swedish sports media, a comparison between sport in public service television for adults and children. The study explores the differences between the number of male and female sports in the matter of air time and also the number of male and female appearances in the TV shows. The programs studied in this report are the Swedish SVT?s Sportspegeln and Lilla sportspegeln. When we began this analysis we were under the impression that men would be over-represented, but that representation in sports television for children would be more gender equal than the adult counterpart. The result of the analysis confirmed previous studies stating that men dominate the sports programs in Swedish public service television.

This study aims to seek knowledge of the salutogenic model within geriatric care. This is done by problematizing the female geriatric care personnel?s everyday life and conditions. The study?s comparative empirical focus includes interviews with ten women that work within geriatric care, at two different workplaces.

När individen upplever stress i samband med att inte kunna agera i enlighet med sitt samvete uppstår samvetsstress. Denna stress är vanligt förekommande hos sjuksköterskor. Om stressen blir långvarig kan den övergå till kronisk stress, vilket kan ge allvarliga konsekvenser. Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva när och hur sjuksköterskan upplever samvetsstress. Metoden var litteraturstudie som innefattade tio kvalitativa studier samt en kvantitativ studie som svarade på studiens syfte.

En Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)-intervention på tre sessioner á tre timmar har erbjudits en icke-klinisk grupp stressade kvinnor (N=20). Målet var att undersöka deltagarnas reaktioner på interventionen och att se huruvida ACT kan tänkas påverka deltagarnas upplevelse av och resurser för att hantera stress. Data samlades in före och efter interventionen, vid varje session, samt vid en tre månaders uppföljning. Deltagarnas reaktioner undersöktes med hjälp av enkäter och skriftliga utvärderingar, medan förändring i stressupplevelse och copingresurser mättes med självskattningsskalorna Perceived Stress Scale respektive Coping Resources Inventory. Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-2 användes för att mäta den för ACT centrala variabeln psykologisk flexibilitet.

By reading three 21st century books am I trying to see how the female friendship is described in literature of our days. The books are Rebell med frusna fötter by Johanna Nilsson, Lutherska badet by Unni Drougge and I närheten av solen by Hanna Wallsten. They are all written by Swedish authors and taking place in Stockholm in the early years of 2000. I am doing a critical reading against the roles of ?heteronormativitet? as the word is described by Tiina Rosenberg and Fanny Ambjörnsson trying to see how the characters are following or breaking these roles.

Over a long time psychology was focusing on human frailties and mental diseases. In 1998, positive psychology was introduced - the scientific study of strengths, well-being and optimal functioning. Theory and research in the area has identified 24 character strengths, in which each individual owns and celebrates a number of top strengths, signature strengths. These strengths have been shown to be important in achieving happiness and well-being. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between character strength and psychological well-being, job satisfaction, harmonious- and obsessive passion and stress.

This theises aims to extend the understanding of how representation of gender is produced and reproduced in the young women?s magazine Frida. We examine this through analyzing pictures of male and female celebrities in a selected number of magazines from the year of 2013. We use a quantitative analysis of the pictures, as well as a supplementary quantitative analysis of ajectives used to describe male and female celebrities in captions. We research what types of patterns we can find in these analyses that construct representations of gender, also surveying how the celebrities in the magazine look.Our analysis shows us that the context of Frida contains several recurring visual patterns that preserves a representation of men being superior to women.

Over 40 miljon people in the world suffer from hiv/aids today. Africa is the continent that is worst affected by hiv/aids but how is the situation in Sweden? Why is it so quiet concerning hiv/aids in Sweden? Our aim with this work was to find out about the hiv/aids situation in Sweden and particulary in Malmö. The result of our research was that hiv/aids have increased since the year 2000 and most of the people had caught the infection in other countries than Sweden. This raised our curiosity concerning how immigrants/refugees are being treated when they arrive in Malmö and what are being done to stop hiv/aids from spreading further.We became very disappointed when we realised how little that is actually being done and how poorly the collaboration between the institutions are working.

Ett livslångt intresse för psykologi och landskapsarkitektur ledde in på spåret att diskutera vad två av dagens stora frågor inom ämnet kunde erbjuda om de slogs samman; positiv psykologi (?Positive Psychology?) och hållbar stadsutveckling. Alla människor utsätts emellanåt för stress, vilken vi är konstruerade att kunna hantera. Trots det är en av de största orsakerna till sjukskrivning i vår tid just stress- och relaterade sjukdomar. En välkänd källa till restoration eller återhämtning är grönska och natur. Så frågan i denna uppsats rör huruvida små grönområden i den täta staden kan verka restorativt på människorna som besöker dem.

Syftet med denna studie var att främst undersöka om det finns ett negativt samband mellan medkänsletillfredställelse och utbrändhet hos handläggare inom socialtjänsten som arbetar med barn och ungdomar. Ett ytterligare syfte var att se om deltagarna uppvisade höga nivåer av sekundär traumatisk stress. Totalt deltog 37 handläggare från socialtjänstens barn och ungdoms grupper i en av Sveriges större städer. Mätinstrumentet som användes för studien var frågeformuläret ProQOL version 5. Resultatet från Pearsons produktmomentkorrelationskoefficient visade att det fanns ett signifikant måttligt negativt samband mellan medkänsletillfredställelse och utbrändhet.

The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze IntimatePartner Violence (IPV). How does contemporary science illustrate men as victimsand women as perpetrators in these relationships? Ten articles were presentedand analyzed in a systematic literature study. The results show that men beingabused by their female intimate partner, do exist and that they in many ways doconform to abused women. There are many underlying causes to the violence inclose relationships.

During a long period of time, rental doctors have created a vast debate in Sweden. Currently, there is a shortage of doctors working in Sweden and to guarantee the lawful right to healthcare of high quality the counties must hire doctors through employment agencies. There are different opinions about rental doctors, some thinks the temporary employment results in a negative work environment and furthermore puts the patients at risk. Other people consider the Swedish healthcare to not function without rental doctors.  The purpose of this essay is to investigate rental doctors through a legal perspective and how temporary employment actually affects the patients? security and the work environment in Sweden?s healthcare.

Högstadietiden är en period då ungdomar ställs inför ökade krav och förväntningar, både från sig själv och omgivningen. Ofta blir stress en del av vardagen. Syftet med studien var att undersöka hur ungdomar i årskurs nio upplever stress. Studien genomfördes genom fokusgruppsdiskussioner och innehållet bearbetades med kvalitativ tematisk innehållsanalys. Nio flickor och fyra pojkar deltog i studien.

Sjukdomar som kan relateras till stress har idag blivit ett allt vanligare problem i vårt västerländska samhälle och allt fler folkhälsorapporter pekar ut denna ohälsa som ett av de största folkhälsoproblemen. Syftet med vårt examensarbete är att undersöka om elever i årskurs tre på gymnasiet upplever sig stressade och i så fall varför. Genom att undersöka elevers eventuella stress på yrkesförberedande kontra teoretiska program vill vi granska hur elevernas egen uppfattning kring sin eventuella stress ser ut. Känner de sig stressade, och i så fall varför. Dessutom har vi för avsikt att undersöka vad eleverna själva gör för att motverka stressen och om eleverna känner oro inför sin framtid.
