Arenastaden ? En jämförande studie om attraktiva områden för kontor


This thesis has been conducted at Volvo Bussar ABunder a period of ten weeks. Within the organizationVolvo, the work is conducted with leaders and teamson every level; from production to top management.They have three tasks, besides executing their dailywork, they are expected to actively work on improvingtheir individual work as well as themselves as persons.The two latter are future value adding activities for theorganization. When doing so, however, it has beennoticed that they often lose the grasp of their dailywork. The question that consequently arises is whythis happens. Is it because of lack of time or it isbecause the co-workers do not have the competenceand simply do not know how they are to execute thethree tasks? Or, is it because the motivation to executethe three tasks is not enough? With this in regard, thestatement of issues for this bachelor thesis were thefollowing: how can the conditions for leaders and theteam be improved, in order for them to execute thesethree tasks.To find out why the execution of these threeassigments did not always succeed, the decision wastaken to conduct a survey and interview study in reallife and at the plants. The aim for this was to finddifferences and similarities between the plants, andbased on this, develop recommendations forimprovement. Before the interviews and surveys wereimplemented, a lot of facts where gathered with thepurpose of creating a solid foundation to compare theresults with. One pilot interview was also done beforethe real ones to process the questions. The plantswhich were selected to participate were Braås (VolvoConstruction Equipment), Borås (Volvo BusCorporation) and Skövde (Group Trucks Operations).After the interviews and surveys were conducted,compiled and analyzed, areas of improvement couldbe made clear.The thesis contains a number of recommendations indifferent areas for Volvo Bus Corporation in order toimprove the current conditions of the team and theleaders. Areas for improvement are communication,diversity and development. Furthermore, werecommend the Volvo Group to place the team andtheir professional development in focus. Thedevelopment team will be enriched with knowledgeand find it easier to meet their leaders. All thiscontributes to conditions for improvement of the threetasks. Finally, the Volvo Group should aim to workmore with the monitoring of leadership and alsodevelop a strategy for how to respond, include andsupport agency staff.
