Bronchiolitis is a common performance decreasing disease in horses (Bracher et al, 1991¸Dixon et al, 1995) Its medical treatment includes inhalation therapy with corticosteroids and b2-adrenoceptorer stimulators. Use of both these medicines is prohibited for sport horses and athletes. Because the facemasks used for inhalation therapy are not airtight, there is a risk for leakage of these medicines. We wanted to see if cross exposure of nearby horses can result during normal recommended treatment of a horse, and assess if this could result in doping positive urine sample from the person treating the horse and from horses in the same airspace. We did a pilot study with four healthy horses. The experiment was divided into four parts.

Bildtraditioner, ämnesintegrering och elevperspektiv är viktiga ingredienser i denna C-uppsats. Undersökningen tar sin plats på en gymnasieskola som arbetar ämnesintegrerat, KF Gymnasiet, där jag själv är bild- och medielärare. Jag har valt att följa eleverna i en projektgrupp genom deras arbetsprocesser i ett ämnesintegrerat filmprojekt. Genom intervjuer och enkäter har eleverna fått berätta om sina uppfattningar om bildämnet; ett material som sedan bearbetas genom diskursanalytisk metod. Jag har arbetat med eleverna med både teckning och måleri, för att sedan ämnesintegrera bild med svenska och engelska i ett filmprojekt.

In this study potential health risks for employees in connection with handling of bottom ash and bottom ash water at a Municipal Waste Incineration (MWI) plant have been investigated. Air surrounding the bottom ash and the bottom ash water has been examined. MWI is one of the primary ways to manage solid household waste, and bottom ash is the main solid residue produced by the incineration process. Bottom ash constitutes about 15-20% of the original waste. The bottom ash is extinguished in a water bath (bottom ash water).The study was carried out in a MWI plant in Karlstad, Sweden.

Stamning är en komplex motorisk talstörning, vars neurologisk bakgrund fortfarande inte är klarlagd. En växande mängd studier ger dock stöd för att stamning kan vara orsakat av strukturella avvikelser i den vänstra hemisfären. En studie (Sommer et al., 2003) som använde transkraniell magnetstimulering (TMS) för att undersöka kortikal inhibition hos personer som stammar (PsS) fann som ett bi-fynd att den stammande gruppen hade signifikant högre motortrösklar (MT) för vänster hemisfärs handmotorarea, det vill säga att det krävdes starkare stimulering för att väcka en muskelrespons i den kontralaterala handen. Resultat har dock inte uppmärksammats av senare forskning, och behöver verifieras. Den aktuella studien syftade till att undersöka om PsS tenderar att ha förhöjda MT, samt om det finns avvikande hemisfärsskilnader i MT hos PsS.

Myofasciella triggerpunkter (MTrP) är ett relativt vanligt problem hos befolkningen. Det största problemet för de drabbade är smärta men det kan även orsaka rörelseinskränkningar samt ge refererad smärta. Diagnosen ställs enligt Simon och Travell utifrån ett antal olika diagnoskriterier, så som palperbara knölar i muskulaturen och ökad känslighet på och runt dessa. Sjukgymnastiska smärtreducerande behandlingsmetoder kan delas upp i invasiva- eller icke invasiva metoder. Syfte: Syftet var att genom en systematisk litteratursammanställning kartlägga evidensen för olika smärtreducerande sjukgymnastiska behandlingsmetoder vid MTrP i nacke, skuldra och ländrygg.

The spontaneous blink rate is found to be a non-invasive but functional, reliable and useful way to monitor central dopaminergic activity. Dopamine is associated with a range of functions such as reward, motivation and learning. It plays an important role in goal-directed behavior and in maintaining a behavior once a task is learned. As far as the author knows, there are today no publications that discuss the topic regarding the possible link between training and spontaneous blink rate in dogs. Therefore, eight privately owned dogs were included in this study to determine if there was a significant difference in the spontaneous blink rate before and after the process of learning a task.

To design new and high tech products the engineers rely more and more on computer based simulations to investigate the properties and behavior for a component or system.To verify these computer based simulations the dynamic properties for the components of the drivetrain needs to be verified. Therefore measurements of the stiffness and vibrations for the rear axle has been performed. This report show how the measurements has been implemented and evaluated, along with some interesting results for the rear axles properties.The static stiffness for the drive shaft along with the axle-gear has been determined. It is found that the stiffness for the whole rear axle is near the stiffness for the drive shaft, which means that the drive shaft becomes the dominant component of the system and affects the rear axle stiffness the most. The measured stiffness of the driveshaft is close to its theoretical stiffness.The stiffness for solely the hypoid-gear have been calculated using the stiffness for the rear axle and driveshaft, and thus has a range for the stiffness of the hypoid gear been determined.The backlash for the whole rear axle and for some individual components has been determined, where the backlash between pinion and crown-wheel has negligible impact on the total backlash.Measurements of the crown-wheel and pinion movements have been conducted, where the direction of movement is consistent with the theoretical direction of the forces.The vibration measurements show that the vibrations are more severe at certain rotational speeds.

The main purpose of recruiting is to find a job candidate who meets the demands of formal and informal competence at the same time as the candidate should be seen as the right person to the right place. Several job advertisements in the areas of finance and administration has at least two years of work experience as a demand before individuals can be seen as an appropriate job-candidate, hence it becomes a sort of ?catch-22? for graduates with no prior work experience. The purpose of this study is to create a better understanding for recruiters? approach and attitude to hiring individuals who only have a university degree.

Fibromyalgi är ett tillstånd av okänd patologi och karaktäriseras av kronisk, diffus smärta samt ömhet vid palpation av specifika muskuloskeletala områden. Fibromyalgi är en kronisk sjukdom och därmed finns ingen behandling som botar sjukdomen. Dagens behandling, bestående av multimodala rehabiliteringsprogram innehållande exempelvis fysisk aktivitet och beteendeterapi, är därför till för att lindra symtomen. Patienter med fibromyalgi upplever även en reducerad livskvalitet. Syftet med denna studie var att sammanställa kunskapsläget om vilken inverkan olika former av fysisk aktivitet har på livskvalitet hos personer med fibromyalgi.

Constantly growing demands from the costumers in the Automotive industry forces the subcontractors to seek alternative ways to compete. One parameter of quality is the components tolerance against NVH(Noise, Vibraion & Harshness) aspects. Kongsbergs Automotive has developed a new gear shifter platform (Shift-by-Wire) that is sold to Alfa Romeo and used in of their car models. However, the company is not pleased with the components sound quality, therefore the main purpose of this thesis is to develope a number of concepts that is supposed to enhance these NVH-aspects.To get an understanding of the problem an analysis of the causes of the emitted sound has been done parallell to a product decomposition, function decomposition and a Ishikawa-diagram. Together with these methods has a litterature study been performed to get familiar with the physics of an impact and especially the emittment of noise.

Traditionally risk-based measures have been used to assess animal welfare in legislation and certification schemes. With increased knowledge and research, debate today tends to focus on and advocate the use of animal-based measures. However this is not a panacea for welfare and the most sound conclusion should be that assessment of animal welfare needs both. The aim of this thesis is to identify the points that need to be taken into consideration to find the optimal balance in the use of input and outcome measures according to the aim of the assessment and how these should be applied when designing a certification scheme? To answer this, a comparison of the use of resource-based, management-based and animal-based measures in two certification schemes for dairy cow welfare, Freedom Food (UK) and Svenskt Sigill (SWE), was made.

Nuvarande riktlinjer för hur man skall bedöma och klassificera risken för att skador skall uppstå då hand- armsystemet utsätts för vibrationer är baserade på en enkel frekvensviktningskurva. Problemet med dagens rådande standard är att den inte tar hänsyn till alla de faktorer som inverkar på risken med vibrerande handhållna verktyg, t.ex. påverkan av transienter i vibrationerna eller mängden energi som absorberas av hand- armsystemet. Ett annat problem med standarden är att karaktärisering utifrån den tenderar att bli metodoberoende beroende på vilken analysmetod som väljs. Ett sätt att ta hänsyn till fler av de bidragande faktorerna är att använda andra analysmetoder, än de som används i enlighet med rådande standard, som till exempel vibration power absorption eller analytisk wavelettransform.

Rapporten består utav en teoretisk undersökning kring hur vibrationer i en svarvbom vid resonans kan dämpas på ett enkelt sätt. CS Produktion, för vilka undersökningen gjorts, har velat öka sin invändiga bearbetning från 1,5 m till 2,5 m. Med så långa överhäng på en bom är det risk för resonansvibrationer som ger dålig ytfinhet och kan i värsta fall skada maskin och personal. Bom och infästning har arbetats fram i ett tidigare arbete, efter arbetet kvarstod utvecklandet av en lösning för dämpningen av bommen.Problemet har undersökts teoretiskt avseende två möjligheter, utifrån om störfrekvensen träffar en eller flera egenfrekvenser för bommen. Störfrekvensen uppstår från den skärande bearbetningen och måste mätas upp för att senare kunna avgöra vilket av de två fallen som är lämpligt att utgå ifrån.Den första modellen för en träff av egenfrekvensen är en inre stång med en vikt i den fria änden av stången, med den andra änden inskruvad i bommens ändplatta.

Network RTK is a real-time technique for accurate positioning with Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). The technology means the use of correction data from a network of GNSS receivers with known positions (reference stations) to reduce the uncertainty in position for the user´s GNSS receiver (rover). However, this requires that the correction data can be transferred seamlessly to the user in real time. Commonly the corrections are transferred via mobile phones. The Swedish National Land Survey operates a nationwide Network RTK service, where users can receive correction data via GSM or mobile Internet (GPRS).
