The aim of this essay is to investigate and evaluate the arguments made by municipal politicians in Ulricehamn, regarding the planned Knowledge and Culture Centre. A part from the search for these arguments, I also investigated the attitudes among politicians regarding municipal culture investments in general. I furthermore investigated whether any national, regional, or local culture-political strategies were important in the local debate. The time frame within which the local political culture debate was investigated was from 1997 until present time 2002. The investigation methods used were partly a study of official documents such as political protocols, two articles from the local newspaper, and a clean copy from a web chat, and partly a qualitative study I sent a question regarding the planned Culture Centre to every political party active in the Ulricehamn municipal assembly.

According to earlier studies, men dominates the sports pages in Swedish newspapers. The gender balance is far from equal and the purpose of this thesis is therefore to look into how Swedish local and regional newspapers covered gender in their sports pages during the year of 2013. The study also examines the news values of men?s and women?s sports, whether there are any differences compared to previous studies and whether there are any differences across the country. The study uses a quantitative content analysis and the result is based on editorial material from six randomly selected newspapers in 18 randomly selected days.

Transporter som utnyttjar en kombination av olika transportslag, så kallade intermodala transporter, spås bli allt viktigare i framtiden och motiveras med både miljömässiga som ekonomiska incitament. Kombiterminaler spelar en central roll för denna utveckling och tillväxten av antalet kombiterminaler i Sverige har de senaste åren varit stark. Syftet med den här rapporten är att kartlägga betydande aspekter vid utvecklingen och etableringen av ett samarbetsprojekt inom logistik på regional nivå samt ta reda på hur ett sådant projekt påverkas av tidigare försök och erfarenheter. För att besvara forskningsfrågorna har vi valt att studera Skaraborg Logistic Center (SLC) i Falköping. Genom flertalet intervjuer med personer, som på endera sättet varit involverad i utvecklingsarbetet av SLC, har vi redogjort för hur utvecklings- och implementeringsprocessen sett ut.

Using the example of 55 former towns in Greater Poland, the author investigates the belief thattowns formerly deprived of town privileges are the most likely to be qualified as future formalurban entities. This paper approaches the subject of urban deprivation and restitution with amultiaspectual study of the concept of urbanity. Since a preponderance of Polish degraded townspossess a prominent urban physical structure, the study focuses mainly on urban morphology as acontributing factor to urbanity. Other approaches include the central place theory, demographicconditions and the role of urban perception. Taking into account Poland?s shifting geopoliticalhistory the study also seeks to identify and explain spatial patterns of varying degrees of urbanityamong the studied towns.

Vår studie har som syfte att belysa slöjdlärares arbete med elevreflektioner i textilslöjdsundervisning. Fyra lärare har intervjuats kring hur de definierar begreppet reflektion, vad de anser att reflektioner har för funktion, vad deras intention med reflektionsarbetet är, vilka arbetsredskap de använder samt hur de arbetar med återkoppling gentemot eleverna. Vidare har de reflektionsdokument de fyra lärarna använder i sin undervisning studerats. Lärarnas intentioner, deras formuleringar i dokumenten och de svar som eleverna givit har sedan jämförts i en trekomponentsanalys. Studien utgår från ett sociokulturellt perspektiv på lärande där språkets betydelse för lärandet understryks.

För att förstå den fysiska planeringen krävs förståelse för de sammanhang i vilket planerandet utförs. Bebyggelsen består av många olika delar, byggnader, vägar med mera, som tillsammans utgör vidare strukturer. Det krävs insikt i hur bebyggelsen har vuxit fram för att förstå hur nya strukturer ska utformas efter som de är sammanlänkade och påverkar varandra. Den här uppsatsen är ett försök att identifiera begrepp för att bättre förstå dessa strukturer. En viktig insikt är den om att urbanisering är en komplex process och uppsatsen grundar sig på en indelning av Nils Lewan i tre olika synsätt på hur urbanisering kan ses: arkitektens, geografens och sociologens perspektiv. Beroende på synsätt varierar graden av hur stor del av Sveriges befolkning som kan sägas vara urban ifrån 70 till nära 100 procent.

En svår och ständigt aktuell fråga är hur landsbygd och glesbygd ska definieras och avgränsas. För att utföra sådana avgränsningar har en stor mängd olika definitioner och mätmetoder tagits fram. Problemet med många av dem är att de ger mycket grova och statiska indelningar och att de ibland bygger på subjektiva eller svårpreciserade kriterier. Samhällsstrukturen har förändrats, exempelvis är tillgången till bil stor idag vilket ökar tillgängligheten och tillåter att människor bosätter sig längre från arbete och service. Det i sin tur bidrar till att gränsen mellan landsbygd och tätort suddas ut och blir mer diffus.

The parrot is a common symbol, or even cliché, in Western literature, going all the way back fromancient Greece to the present date, and in many a genre. This study reads the oeuvre of the NobelPrize winner Samuel Beckett (1906-1989) as being closely related to these certain traditions andconnotations of for example religion, satire, and speaking nonsense, in his frequent use of parrotsand their symbolic potentials, in his writing. Furthermore, it is possible to distinguish a movementin Beckett?s use of parrots, from a more or less traditionally use, to one more philosophicallyprofound.Although the parrot graces us with its presence (or at least may be traced) in almost everywork written by Beckett, from the poem ?Whoroscope? (1930) to How It Is (1961), they are onlymentioned sparsely by his interpreters. Therefore, a brief history of the literary tradition of theparrot will be expounded.

The Swedish government has made the decision to transform the talking book system from an analogue system to a digital system called DAISY by the end of 2004. The purpose of this Masters thesis is to examine how public libraries are affected by this system change. This is carried out by studying the current situation in public libraries concerning the transition to DAISY. This qualitative oriented study is primarily based on interviews with four librarians and three library managers at six public libraries. Management by objectives is here seen as a suitably theoretical framework since public municipal libraries are partly regulated by the governments goals and laws.

The concept of vulnerability is the capacity or the sensitivity to become damaged. Vulnerability are characterized by one or more of the following terms; a system´s sensitivity to exposure to shock, stress or interference, the state of the system in relations to a threshold of damages, and the system´s ability to adapt to the changing circumstances. Vulnerability in this study is referring to the sensitivity of the circumstances that lead to sustainable livelihood that can´t be maintain and that there is an inability to cope with and manage stress. The choice of making a study in this area is based on that action needs to be taken to moderate the vulnerable aspects of society, in this respect in relations to storms. Analyzes of the social vulnerability to climate change or natural events is needed for effective actions.

The purpose of this article is to investigate how and from which sources librarians collect information on their profession with respect to factors that are important for their work. In order to achieve this goal, a questionnaire-based survey will be conducted at three medium-sized central-public-libraries in southern Sweden. Using this survey, I wish to answer the following four questions: To what extent do librarians acquaint themselves with changes and developments within regional and cultural policy arenas important to their work? To what extent do librarians acquaint themselves with information using conferences and library debates that are focussed on changes and developments relevant to their work? Do librarians consider that they have enough time within the limits of their work hours to follow developments within the librarian profession, for example with respect to developments within information technology, and how would they appraise the future demand for information technology-based services at the library? From which source(s) do librarians collect information relevant to their work? The theoretical basis of this paper can be compared to a radar as it scans subjects-of-interest to the organization in the field of business intelligence. This investigation uses a quantitative method, with data collected via a survey consisting of 13 questions.

There are many good reasons to ponder about what it is that makes life worth living. To observe and reflect on what it is that gives a person a good quality of life is arguably the essential core of social-work. The aim of this research was to investigate how 15-year old youths interpret quality of life. The key areas that we explored in order to meet the research aims were: what did the youths interpret as a good quality of life for a 15-year old and for an adult, how did they view their own quality of life, and did they think that the regional context (i.e. if one lives in a big city or in a small town) affects how one interpret quality of life.The studywas based on interviews with four boys and four girls.

This Master's thesis concerns the classification of compact discs according to the Swedish classification system, SAB. The purpose of this thesis is to critically study and discuss category Y of the SAB-system and its application in Swedish public libraries. The classification system has undergone great changes from the first edition in 1921 until today. In 1921 there were no musical recordings in Swedish libraries, today they are responsible for a large part of the loans. We discuss how the system's category Y has corresponded with the musical development.

This thesis is an evaluation of the campaign [The digitally curious] that is part of the regional marketing campaign Futurum.kom. Its purpose was to strengthen the library's role in society. The campaign includes Regionbibliotek Kalmar, Länsbibliotek Sydost and also 25 public libraries in Kronoberg, Kalmar and Blekinge. The campaign [The digitally curious] is one of several cluster campaigns targeting their marketing to a specific audience and aims to promote awareness of what libraries have to offer and provide information on digital media and services. The target group for the campaign is a man between 45-65 years old, who is interested in digital technology.

Warszawa är en stad som ständigt förändrats av historiska händelser, den viktigaste har kanske varit andra världskriget. I slutet av kriget var cirka 90% av staden jämnad med marken. Återuppbyggnaden under efterkrigstiden var under sovjetisk influens och det ledde till en på många sätt ofördelaktig fysisk struktur och därmed transportstruktur. Sedan järnridåns fall år 1989 utvecklas Polen och Warszawa på marknadsekonomiska premisser, vilket har lett till andra typer av problem såsom en starkt rotad ?bilist-kultur?.
