This paper deals primarily with the developmental potential and use of court -based mediation in Swedish law, and its relation to court-based conciliation and the judicial procedure as means to end a conflict.  In Chapter 42, Section 17 of the Swedish Code of Judicial Procedure, a judge, before the parties have their main hearing, can act as a mediator between the parties to settle the dispute. The judge should, according to the law, always try to make the parties come to an agreement before the main hearing. This obligation can be fulfilled either through the use of court-based conciliation, or court based mediation. Mediation as such is rarely used in Sweden, and one of the goals of this essay is to try to provide a tentative answer to why that might be the case.  The second goal is to try to find a consistent, yet flexible notion, of the concept of ?jurisdiction?, and to provide an explanation for the relation between mediation as an alternative method for dispute resolution and the judicial procedure.                                                                                                                                            .

Dagens låga lagervolymer vid industrierna har inneburit högre krav på transportstyrningen av ankommande virke för att säkerhetsställa en kontinuerlig råvaruförsörjning. Kombinatet i Iggesund, som är en del av Holmen AB, har sett potential att effektivisera sin vedhantering vid det massabruk samt sågverk som utgör kombinatet. Vedhanteringen är idag tydligt separerad mellan massabruk och såg. Studiens syfte var att kvantifiera effekten av ett samarbete med vedhanteringen mellan massabruk och såg samt en förändring i lossningsresurser med avseende på relativa kötider för virkesfordon som ankommer till kombinatet. Med händelsestyrd simulering skapades en modell över kombinatet.

The purpose of this study is to create a deeper understanding of how Swedish universities work with their marketing communication aimed at potential domestic students. The study focuses on how universities design and select channels for the marketing communication. A case study was conducted where four respondents from two Swedish universities were interviewed in order to generate empirical data. The results show that key factors for marketing communication are uniformity, honesty and trustworthiness. The results suggest that marketing communication should focus on the student?s experiences of university life and being a student, rather than marketing the university?s core service: education.

Syftet med detta projekt har varit att få insyn i lämpliga arbetssätt och metoder för att designa mönster i allmänhet och mattor i synnerhet. Att få kontakt med befintliga mattproducenter och designers och se hur de går tillväga. Även insikt i processen om hur man överför mönsterdesign till en produkt.Mitt mål var att ta fram en välfungerande matta för privat bruk inomhus. Detta med tilltalande färgkomposition.  Utifrån flera studiebesök, enkät, intervjuer, djupstudie, hela min designprocess och ett mycket givande samarbete med mattföretaget Kateha, så har projektet utmynnat i en handtuftad matta ? ?Glänta?.

The research of the essay will be about Solidarity, the Polish trade union that began to rise in the beginning of 1980. In more specific tendencies to the empirical study, it is interesting getting to know about when the free trade union was created with a view to liberate the Polish people from Communism.The essay will be studied as an empirical case study, with a qualitative text analysis. The content will also include how power is allocated to the political, economic and social aspects of the national, and international relations. Therefore it will be relevant to use a method of ideology analysis to the qualitative text.The result of the theoretical analysis was that it is difficult to apply the social movements into a political change, even if it leads to success. The structure of the thesis is based on opportunities to attract businesses to the region, the need of establishments in the region and benchmarking with establishment strategies of other cluster initiatives. The identified opportunities are the local business relationship with ABB, the prerequisites of life quality in the region and the availability of financial support. Further on has a number of opportunities to be developed been identified; diversification of the existing businesses, an expansion of the cooperation with universities and to simplify the contact with local authorities. Challenges that HVV is facing is: creating a more dynamic labor market, secure long-term labor supply, spread the image of the brand HVV and finally putting HVVs geographic scope. Two of the identified needs of establishments are strategically important: to establish a third-party logistician and commercializing systems for distributed generation and energy storage.

The aim of the paper is to explore the dominating perception of the Other after the conflict regarding the Danish Mohammed caricatures. How Swedish newspapers have portrayed Arabs, which role they have been given in society and what problems they are struggling with is going to be the focus of this thesis.As methodological approach I chose discourse analysis, since it presents a view where language defines and structures our understanding of reality. Through the study of various Swedish newspaper articles, this essay tries to illustrate the implicit yet existent negative image of the Arabs as a group and potential alternative ways of understanding the Other.The perception of Arabs is a product of a necessary imaginary foe, a mirror image of the bad and strange in contrast to the idyllic and safe Swedish nationality. The rhetoric?s of the discourse are therefore constructed between a politics of acknowledgement and a will to culturally dominate the Other.

I uppsatsen analyseras tre svenska ungdomsromaner från 2006 medan ytterligare sju romaner används parentetiskt som jämförelsematerial. Romanerna har valts ut genom sammanställning av enkäter. Det övergripande syftet är att studera vilken potential romaner som läses i grundskolans senare år samt i gymnasiet har för värdegrundsarbete med inriktning på jämställdhet. Fokus ligger på hur identitet och genus konstrueras hos föräldra- och eventuellt reproduceras hos huvudkaraktärerna. Utgångspunkt för analysen är ett intersektionellt perspektiv som innefattar social bakgrund, etnicitet och sexualitet.

In 1994 it was decided that a new network based organizational model was to be initiated to face the problems of some of the gender inequalities in Sweden. The organisation structure was named Resource Centre for Women (ResursCentrum för kvinnor).This essay constitutes a qualitative case study of governing, with this organisation structure as my field of inquiry. My ambition has been to outline and explain what kind of governing has been used and how it works. I have also tried to identify potential changes of the ways of governing over time. To help me out with that task, I have applied a theoretical framework, characterized of a governance perspective, and have used terms as: governing with networks, partnership, projects and visionary government to interpret my empiric material.My result shows that there have been various changes in the ways of governing, from a more hierarchal government form of governing to a more governance based one..

De senaste åren har marknaden för surfplattor växt massivt samtidigt som Smart-TV?s har kommit fram som en ny produktkategori. Detta arbete är en undersökningen i hur surfplattor tillsammans med Smart-TV kan användas för att skapa en bättre upplevelse för användaren. För detta utvecklades en applikation på en LG Smart TV som sammankopplades med en surfplatta för att visa information om ett pokerspel. Sedan utfördes en undersökning med intervjuer där hybridapplikationen jämfördes gentemot att bara spela på surfplattan.

Syftet med denna uppsats var att genom kvalitativa djupintervjuer av chefer och medarbetare studera, beskriva och förstå fenomenet utvecklingssamtal. Undersökningen genomfördes i en medelstor svensk försvarsindustri enligt en fenomenologiskt inspirerarad metodik. För att analysera studiens resultat utvecklades ett teoretiskt ramverk baserat på förväntansteori, moderna psykologiskakontraktoch Maslows behovshierarki. Studien visade att utvecklingssamtal fyller flera behov och har potential att öka medarbetarnas trivsel, engagemang och motivation. På motsvarande sätt kan dock utvecklingssamtal även skapa missnöje och sänka motivation om dess resultat upplevs som ett brott mot de informella psykologiska kontrakt som återfinns på arbetsplatsen.

In the process of globalization, identity has become one of the central factors.An understanding of the difference that makes up our society has made thequestion of weather is it possible to envision a society where difference is thecommon ground, one that has been up for contest. To answer this we need to seeif this kind of democracy is possible at all. For this I?m turning to the socialmovments who while they are working close to the reality also can give us somereal answers. Therefore I have looked at how social movements adress identity,difference and conflict and concluded that three things are crucial in organizing ongrounds of difference.

In this thesis I'm trying to examine the meaning potential of visual elements and layout in a Swedish newspaper front page and the same newspaper's website's start page, drawing on theories about multimodality and social semiotics developed mainly by Theo van Leeuwen and Gunther Kress. The study is focusing on Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet and the website aftonbladet.se and compares these three different days. In this thesis I also try to examine what the newspaper communicate about its identity through the different visual components. My conclusion is that visual elements and layout have a great importance regarding what a newspaper communicate about how the news articles should be read, but what can be said about a company's identity mostly depend on the genre the newspaper belongs to and how well the reader knows that particular genre..

It may seem obvious that the urban space in our northern cities should be design to function and inspire throughout the whole year. This is not always the case. The urban space is often designed on a summer basis and the winter is regarded more as a problem then a resource and its potential remain unused. I have in this master thesis studied the impact of the winter on people and spaces and ponder on how to design functional and attractive places for winter. The project ends in a design concept for Broparken in Umeå on the theme "everyday winter day". The work with this thesis has given me, as a landscape architect, valuable experiences and filled a gap of knowledge that I had in this subject. I hope that this thesis can inspire Umeå kommun and others who are interested in how northern cities can benefit by its climate and develop towards a more complete city. The thesis begins with a chapter that present the subject from four different perspectives.
