Investment in hedge funds is a relatively new phenomenon for investors compared with other forms of savings. In recent years, the interest has increased among investors in investing their money in hedge funds, given the protection against declines in the market they are aiming for. Their main purpose is to generate a high return at a low risk regardless of market trends. This they can achieve by having fewer restrictions that offer more flexible investment strategies and freer investment opportunities.The purpose of this paper is to identify how the selected hedge fund strategies have performed during the recent economic downturn. We also want to clarify the claim that hedge funds exhibit a positive absolute return regardless of what the market is performing.In order to answer the purpose of the essay and its problems, we have used a quantitative method with a deductive approach in the processing of data.

C-uppsatsen avhandlar överraskning, en av grundprinciperna för krigföring i den svenska operativa- och högre taktiska markstridsdoktrinen. Strävan med uppsatsen är att klarlägga de grundläggande faktorer som överraskningen kan sägas bestå av samt att skapa en modell av faktorernas inbördes förhållande och ömsesidiga beroende, syftande till att på ett avgörande sätt överraska motståndaren.Den empiriska undersökningen sker genom en analys av fem erkända militärteoretiker. De grundläggande faktorer för överraskning som framkommer efter analysen, prövas mot praktiska operativ verksamhet i en begränsad fallstudie. Faktorernas framtida giltighet hypotesprövas i en studie som utgår från två hypoteser om Dominant Battlespace Awareness.Avslutningsvis förs en diskussion om hur utbildningen av svenska officerare bör utvecklas för att på ett bättre sätt än idag, möjliggöra ett operativt agerande, syftande till att nå ett avgörande genom att utnyttja överraskning på taktisk nivå..

The process of value creation is rapidly shifting from a product- and firm-centric view to personalized consumer experience today. Informed, networked, empowered and active consumers are increasingly co-creating value with the firm. The interaction between the firm and the consumer as well as the experience factor plays an increasingly important role in determining the success of a company?s offering. In this study, a special type of co-creating experience is investigated - ?omstartspex? - where the audience is interacting with actors during the play.

To establish sustainability reports is an increasing trend for more and more companies. This has led to a spread of the international framework Global reporting initiative, GRI, guidelines to make a sustainability reports. This trend has got a lot of critics from various stakeholders who believe that companies in these reports communicate the information in a way of window dressing. Both negative and positive information has to be represented according to GRI: s principle of balance.  Window dressing is created by adding a greater emphasis on the positive information. The researchers review the context of the negative information to study the extent to which it is reported and whether there are patterns and variations in the reported information.

The aim of my master?s thesis has been to examine the situation of the price lists in the National Library of Sweden, in Uppsala University Library and in the Nordiska Museet Library. The starting point was that the institutes have been operating within different institutional practices. These operational differences between the institutes have affected the collecting, the organizing and the accessibility to the information of the price lists. My master?s thesis is based on Birger Hjørlands theories of domains and knowledge organization.

In todays competitive business climate the concept of ?quality management? is a significant part of daily work for many companies, as they want to achieve high performance quality and delivery success. Within the services sector third-party logistics companies play an increasingly central role when it comes to the goods that are being transported. These companies are presented with continuous challenges to ensure that goods are loaded on trucks efficiently and delivered on time, at the right place and in the right condition. The present case study was conducted in collaboration with Schenker AB and Schenker Åkeri in Jönköping, to help these two company branches serving under the same major corporation to solve a common problem they both encounter, namely the fact that it regularly occurs handling abnormalities in the terminal process that affects overall quality for customers.The study aims to find out how the daily quality control concerning the handling of goods in the terminal process can be improved hopefully resulting in a higher quality in cargo shipments.

Syfte: Den geografiska aspekten hos fondsparare har inte studerats tidigare och det är därför väldigt intressant att göra en studie inom detta område. Studien görs i samarbete med en av Sveriges storbanker. Huvudsyftet med studien är att undersöka om risktagandet hos svenska fondsparande, i en av Sveriges storbanker, skiljer sig åt mellan olika län och kommuner. Jag undersöker även frågor som:·           Vilket av könen tar störst risk? ·           Tar yngre eller äldre störst risk?·           Tar äldre kvinnor större risk än äldre män?·           Beror portföljvärdet på hur stor risk placeraren tar?·           Påverkar andelsvärde av portföljens risktagande?·           Fondsparare som har sin hemvist i en storstad (Stockholm, Göteborg och Malmö) tar dessa större risker än män/kvinnor som bor utanför storstäderna?·           Skiljer sig risktagandet mellan åren 2001- 2007? Metod: Den empiriska metoden multipel linjär regression, så kallad Ordinary Least Square används i studien.

AimThe aim of this study was to investigate if the Swedish elite soccer teams, both males and females, have preventive strategies to reduce the risk of muscular injuries in the posterior thigh.MethodA survey was created and sent by mail to all (n=28) Swedish elite soccer teams in allsvenskan (both males and females) to be answered by the head of physical exercise within each team. A pilot study regarding the survey was performed by two soccer coaches on elite level and was revised afterwards. The survey was conducted between May through July 2013. In total, 18 soccer teams participated in this survey.Results10 soccer teams did not respond to the survey, which resulted in a drop out of 36%. Preventive strategies to reduce the risk of muscular injuries in the posterior thigh existed in 16 of the teams.

Detta examensarbete handlar om en uppföljning av en enkätundersökning enligt EFQM modellen som genomförts vid BT Products. Uppföljningen består i en djupare analys av undersökningens resultat med fokus på vissa av dess delar. De områden som huvudsakligen behandlas är företagets medarbetare, processer och ledarskap. Tyngdpunkten ligger i att klargöra orsakssamband mellan enkätens olika områden samt att gå djupare in på- och identifiera samt beskriva starka och svaga sidor hos dem. Intervjuer, observationer och statistiska metoder har använts för detta syfte vilket resulterat i att det framkommit möjligheter att förbättra verksamheten i flera avseenden. De viktigaste förslagen till förändringar är: En förändrad organisationsmodell med fokus på värdekedjor Förändrade ansvarsförhållanden och tillhörigheter En långsiktig inriktning mot en styrmodell med utgångspunkt i värden och företagskultur.

The purpose of this essay is to compare a theoretical strategic process model with the strategic work in a Swedish bank. The reason of the comparison was to identify which key success factors that is essential in strategic implementation processes. To make this study feasible three qualitative interviews were executed and it also presents data from a quantitative survey performed by the bank. The theory of the study examines eight different parts that needs to be looked at attentively when new strategies are formulated. The results points out that the work at large correspond, nevertheless the theoretical framework points out the importance of the business mission to impregnate the whole strategic process.

Competition and pressure on prices are two factors that affect the automotive industry. Because of this, the companies are pressured to continuously developing their work in addition to be able to compete on the market. The aircraft industry has successfully managed to implement additive manufacturing (AM) and for motorsport has several components manufactured with AM been used. When AM is used as a manufacturing method, there are a number of advantagesthat follows.

Hälso- och sjukvårdens utveckling har lett fram till ett marknadsstyrt system. För att kunna jämföra olika vårdgivare och utveckla kvalitén har ett flertal kvalitetsindikatorer och uppföljningsområden införts. Fallrisk är ett av dessa uppföljningsområden. I Sverige är Downton Fall Risk Index förstahandsval som fallriskbedömningsinstrument. Hälso- och sjukvård ska utformas och genomföras i samråd med patienterna.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka huruvida det har skett en förändring i riskaversionen mellan perioden 1980-1995 och 1996-2000. Sambandet mellan risk och värdering undersöks för att ta reda på detta. En kvantitativ metod har använts för att genomföra undersökningen. Statistiska modeller som enkel och multipel regression har använts för att söka samband mellan värdering och risk. Rådata har hämtats ur ?SIX Trust?-databasen och vi har därefter behandlat datan i Excel och SPSS.

The purpose of the study is to highlight the issue of student loans securitization, and assure the importance and benefits that could be realized by performing such a transaction. The methodology is a case study for The National Board of Student Aid. It is a qualitative study, mainly using interviews, literature and scientific articles. By using this information we construct a securitization transaction structure ?CSN 2006-1?, and conduct a cost/benefit analysis.

The study's main purpose was to qualitatively investigate adult children's experiences of growing up in a family with parental abuse of alcohol and drugs, and how their childhood has influenced/influence life in adult age. In this interview study, four respondents in the age be-tween 25-60 years have participated. Social learning theory, attachment theory and risk and protective factors have been used as a theoretical frame.Overall, we can conclude that the study's respondents have, more or less, been adversely affected by the parent?s misuse of alcohol during their childhood. Despite these negative fac-tors, most respondents nevertheless received a functional living.
