The purpose is to illustrate the phenomenon of self-harm from a social psychological and sociological perspective. The purpose is furthermore to examine the role social relationships play in the individuals´ self- imagine and what role does identification play for anyone who harm themselves? We want to examine in what way social relationships are important and how they function for individuals who harm themselves, both once they have started to harm themselves, and if the relationships in any part caused the cutting to begin with.Questions:How do individuals shape their identity based on self- harm? Which self-image do individuals have who self-harm? Is there anything in the person's previous social relationships that have caused them to begin to hurt themselves?Method:In this paper we have analyzed five autobiographies. We have used open coding from grounded theory as analytical method and subject positions based on discourse analysis.Theory:We have used the Cooley concepts looking glass self, Foucault's theory of power, Giddens' concept of ontological security and existential anxiety.Results and Analysis:We found six different categories that we thought were central. These were negative self-image, guilt, lack of family support, negative experiences of others' views, the protective identity as self- harmer and insecure social relationships in school.Conclusion:The self-harming is a very complex behavior.

This Master?s thesis concerns the public librarian?s professional identity. The complexity of the mandates of the public librarian, and the public library, raises questions on how librarians understand their professional identities. The empirical material consists of qualitative in-depth interviews with librarians. Two theoretical approaches are used in the analysis of the material with a focus on the public librarians? knowledge and professional role.

The 1900s saw two incidents of states using their military in civil disorder situations, which resulted in the killing of unarmed citizens. May 14, 1931 in Ådalen, marks a significant part of Swedish history and its view of the use of military force.  On that day, a peaceful protest march escalated, which resulted in live firing by the military stationed there to uphold law and order. This resulted in the deaths of five civilians and the prohibition of the use of military force in incidents of civil disorder. In 1972 in Northern Ireland a similar event took place on January 30, which is commonly known as Bloody Sunday. The Troubles were raging and resulted in protests for civil rights by nationalists.

Jag vill undersöka vad som motiverar och lockar mellanstadieelever att välja bild som fördjupningsämne i elevens val. Jag vill undersöka deras förväntningar på lektionernas innehåll. För att få bredd på min undersökning planerar jag att använda mig av både kvantitativa och kvalitativa metoder. För att få förståelse om deras motivation och förväntningar tänker jag göra en enkät och samla in önskelistor i två grupper om totalt 20 elever som komplement till detta gör jag en gruppintervju av kvalitativ karaktär med sju elever som valt bild.De viktigaste resultaten av min undersökning är att eleverna väljer bild som fördjupningsämne för att de tycker att det är roligt och valet gör de utifrån sin egen inre motivation. SammanfattningVår studie bygger på sex intervjuer av elever från två yrkesförberedande program på gymnasiet. Syftet var att undersöka vad som kan påverka deras motivation till lärande i undervisningssituationen genom att utröna vilka faktorer som påverkar motivationen.För att nå detta mål genomförde vi utöver intervjuerna även en litteraturstudie för att få en bild av vad tidigare forskare skrivit om elevers motivation i ett skolsammanhang. I vår empiriska undersökning utgick vi från en kvalitativ intervjumetod. Intervjumaterialet analyserades genom meningskoncentrering.Resultatet från litteraturstudien och intervjuerna visade att det är främst sex faktorer som påverkar elevers motivation, dessa är: läraren, arbetssättet, delaktigheten i undervisningen, dialogen i undervisningssammanhanget, nyttan med kunskapen samt intresset för ämnet. I våra intervjuer framkom även att de elever som hade ett mål med sin utbildning också hade en högre grad av motivation.

The aim of this study is to examine whether the image of the stereotype librarian has created conflict in young librarians´ personal identity and/or professional identity and if this has shown in their choice of clothes? Our purpose was to find out, with the help of their choice of clothes, the young librarians view of themselves as individuals and professional librarians. We have searched for the answers to the following questions: - Do young librarians experience that clothing at their workplace has any significance and if so, what do they want to signal with their clothing? - Do they experience that clothing and appearance has any impact on their personal and professional identity? - How do they relate, by their choice of clothes, to the stereotype images of the librarian? We have performed qualitative interviews with eleven young female librarians. As a theoretical framework we have used ideas and concepts from different areas of research; semiotics, social psychology, business administration and ethnology.

Syftet med detta examensarbete är att se om eleverna upplever att deras motivation och lärande påverkas genom att de får inflytande och möjlighet att välja arbetssätt i undervisningen. Undersökningen hade en kvalitativ karaktär och gjordes med hjälp av intervjuer och observationer. Tyngdpunkten lades på intervjuerna. Observationerna gjordes under lektionstid. Vi lottade ut och intervjuade tio elever i år 9.

The aim of this master thesis?s is to examine what functions writing activities can have in the public library. Some public libraries offer their visitors writing activities, for example courses and camps. The public library is an institution with a particular identity, with special norms and properties which participants within the institution construct and reproduce. The main question of this thesis is to investigate how writing activities can be a part of the public library?s institutional identity and what functions writing activities in the public library can have.

Ett av uppdragen som svensklärare har är att stimulera elevers intresse för att skriva. Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att öka förståelsen för elevers motivation till skrivande i svenskämnet. Hur beskriver elever sin motivation till skrivande, och vilka faktorer anser de ökar, respektive minskar deras motivation till skrivande i svenskämnet? Undersökningen baseras på intervjuer av fem elever i årskurs nio. Studien bygger på induktiva ansatser där resultatet diskuteras i förhållande till teoretiska perspektiv på motivation och skrivundervisning.Flera av eleverna i studien beskriver ett stort intresse för skrivande.

Aaker describes that a clear brand identity can help communicate both intern the organization and out to extern costumers, it could help bring clarity to what the brand stands for. Det som motiverar en människa behöver inte motivera en annan, det finns många olika faktorer som påverkar en människas motivation. I denna uppsats undersöktes vad som motiverade teknologer och naturvetare vid Uppsala universitet att engagera sig ideellt inom Uppsala teknolog- och naturvetarkår. Teorin som har använts är inre och yttre motivation, samt fyra behovsteorier; Maslows behovspyramid, Herzbergs tvåfaktorsteori, McClellands behovsteori och Alderfers ERG-teori. Utifrån denna teori togs 13 stycken nyckelord fram till en analysmodell, vilken sedan låg till grund för påståendena i enkäten. Metoden som användes i undersökningen var kvantitativ och resultatet visade att inre motivation hade mycket större påverkan än yttre motivation för ideellt engagemang.

This thesis is based on a conversation about gender identity and the pronoun hen in an episode of the radio programme Tendens on Swedish public radio, P1. The participants of the conversation are a scholar and a journalist/show-host. The goal of the research has been to analyse how the conversation is constructed from its context and which topics that occur. The goal of the research has also been to analyse how the participants of the conversation position themselves and how the conversation composes and re-composes norms and values regarding gender identity in society. Critical discourse analysis, completed by Conversation analysis has been the theoretical and methodological approach.

Bakgrund: Hjärt- och kärlsjukdomar kan beskrivas som en livsstilsjukdom, eftersom miljön och livsstilen kan öka respektive minska risken för hjärt- och kärlsjukdomar. Det underlättar för patienterna om de har motivation för att genomföra en livsstilsförändring.Syftet: Syftet är att belysa vad som underlättar eller försvårar för patienter med erfarenhet av hjärt- och kärlsjukdomar att finna motivation till livsstilsförändringar.Metod: En systematisk litteraturstudie har gjorts där vetenskapliga artiklar söktes, granskades, analyserades och sammanställdes utifrån studiens syfte. Efter kvalitetsgranskning av relevanta vetenskapliga artiklar inkluderades 12 artiklar i studien.Resultat: Att vilja genomföra en livsstilsförändring kan påverkas av erfarenhet och självförtroende. Ekonomi, kunskap och socialt stöd är förutsättningar som har betydelse för motivationen till att kunna genomföra livsstilsförändringen. Ett självständigt beslut och planering leder till ökad motivation som kan underlätta livsstilsförändringen.Slutsats: Förutsättningar kan både underlätta och försvåra motivationen till livsstilsförändring vid hjärt- och kärlsjukdomar.

The way society categorize different people into groups is problematic in the sense that the categorization can seem stigmatizing and have social consequences for those being categorized. Immigrants are one of those problematic categories.The following essay studies this categorization of ?immigrants? based on a governmental investigation of structural discrimination that took place in 2002-2008. The aim is to study the use of the category ?immigrant? and the consequences that follows such a categorization.

This thesis discusses the existential consequences for the human being in creatio ex nihilo, where the main subjects of discussion are contingency, freedom and identity. The starting-point of the discussion lies in the presentation of the history of the doctrine of creation, especially the doctrine of creatio ex nihilo. Once the historical and philosophical importance of the doctrine of creation is clear, the anthropological and theological consequences are obvious; creation is contingent and at the same time deeply dependent upon God. The contingency of creation may bring a sense of non-necessity among people, and therefore it makes the question of human freedom and identity in the doctrine of creation utterly important..
