Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to study the adaptation of recently recruited young professionals to a top consulting firm through their identity construction efforts. We analyze the influence of a major organization-related discourse on young professionals in order to account for the effects of emotional labor on their adaptation to work. Methodology: We have studied our empirical material in the light of a reflexive pragmatic approach. Thus throughout the analysis of interview material, we try to interpret carefully the material from various perspectives. As authors, we also reflect critically upon our own interpretations.

Bakgrund: Sjukfrånvaron i Sverige 2004 var högst i Västeuropa och landets enskilt största ekonomiska problem. Regeringen vidtog åtgärder för att minska sjukfrånvaron. En del var att ge incitament för att sjukskrivningsprocessen skulle finnas med i hälso- och sjukvårdens ledningssystem, delvis på grund av förändrade krav och därmed brister i läkarintygens kvalitet. En lokal undersökning vid ortopedkliniken Kärnsjukhuset visade att 23 % av patienterna var missnöjda i samband med sjukskrivning.Syfte: Genom Sex Sigmas problemlösningsmodell DMAIC i kombination med mikrosystemperspektivet förbättra kvaliteten på läkarintygen, skapa mål och rutiner i sjukskrivningsprocessen samt öka patientnöjdhet Metod: Utifrån ett mikrosystemperspektiv intervjuades projektgruppsdeltagare. Genom Sex Sigmas problemlösningsmodell fokuserades förbättringsområden på informationsutbyte till patienter och läkare samt utformande av mål och skriftliga rutiner.

English title: Part-time work among women in Sweden ? what influences choice of working hours? In the 1960s and 70s a large growth in part-time work amongst women in the Swedish labour market took place. A net inflow of workers into the labour market has been suggested as the main source. However, part-time work is still a common phenomenon among Swedish women; in 2004 almost 40% of all women worked part-time, and women are clearly dominating the part-time sector. A gradual changeover from house work to market work is hardly a valid explanation anymore.

Detta examensarbete har haft som uppgift att undersöka om framtidens utveckling av GIS-funktioner kommer att ske med XML-webbtjänster. Som ett led i denna undersökning har ett antal GIS-funktioner utvecklats som XML-webbtjänster med ESRI: s ArcGIS Server 9.0. Syftet med utvecklingen var att utvärdera ArcGIS Servers stöd för XML-webbtjänster. Med hjälp av XML-webbtjänsttekniken kan distribuerade GIS-applikationer byggas. En övergång från traditionella GIS till distribuerade GIS kan ge många fördelar.

Malassezia otitis in dogs is a common cause of visit to a veterinary service. In otitis externa due to Malassezia overgrowth the dog has a higher number of yeast organisms and/or a local inflammatory response to the micro organism. Common clinical signs include pruritus, erythema, swelling and increased exudate production. Clinical symptoms and results from cytology of ear swabs from the ear canal is the mainstay for diagnosis. Any underlying condition has to be identified and corrected to avoid relapse. ITT Water & Wastewater (ITT) är en ledande leverantör och tillverkare av dränkbara pumpar, luftare och omrörare. Examensarbetet fokuserar på pumpstationer för trycksatta avloppssystem. ITT vill genom detta få ett underlag för vidareutveckling av pumpstationerna Compit och Micro 7G, i syfte att göra dem mer konkurrenskraftiga. Målet med arbetet var att utreda vilka delar av pumpstationerna som är i behov av vidareutveckling och presentera förbättringar.Pumpstationer för trycksatta avlopp består av en pumpsump till vilken en självfallsledning ansluts. Avloppsvattnet pumpas vidare i en trycksatt ledning till det kommunala avloppet.

Wood has always been an important material for people, and it is used for many applications. As for example, fuel for cooking and heating houses, construction materials and for constructing means of transport. Since wood also is a material that with time biologically degrades due to activity by micro organisms and wood fungi it is important to find ways to protect and further lengthen the life span of the material when in service. One method is to decrease the amount of water in the material by impregnation with an hydrophobic oil. The Linotech method which uses only pure linseed oil is one such possible method. The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility to at the same time impregnate and stain/colour wood samples of pine and spruce by using the Linotech method.

The impacts of climate change followed by their complexity could potentially have an increased risk effect upon the social and environmental welfare as well as the economic drivers in the ROM (www, UNESCO1, 2009). The primary victims when it comes to the impacts of climate change are the Mauritian agricultural producers since agriculture is highly dependent on climate stability, therefore affecting the yields of the producers.
