Att göra stad. Om demokrati och deltagande i det offentliga rummet

Malmö has often been described as a segregated city, with relatively low democratic participation and high poverty and alienation. Behind this kind of statements we often find a material reality, with unequal distribution of assets and potentials that needs to be taken into consideration for political action. At the same time this categorisation of people into different groups can take stigmatising effects and result in increased inequality.I find the theoretical basis for my thesis in Lefebvre?s writings on ?the right to the city?, that shortly means that all inhabitants of a city have the right to take active part in the constantly ongoing process of producing and reproducing the city ? on all levels, from a hands-on everyday life level to a more abstract political level.With an interdisciplinary approach, where the right to the city is discussed in relation to citizenship, presence, representation and public space, I try to understand the connections between democracy, participation, justice and equality. These discussions are then applied to examples from Malmö; both publically initiated projects and individual physical markings in the city.

Heart failure is a condition where the heart is incapable of providing adequate blood supply to different organs in the body. The underlying causes of heart failure is some kind of disorder in the heart function, and require careful diagnostics. The basic symptoms that arise from heart failure is difficulty in breathing, that aggravate when lying down, and fatigue. The patients? symptoms and impaired quality of life can be in different stages depending on the severity of the heart failure.

AbstractSyftet med studien är att få ta del av elevers och lärares egna erfarenheter och tankar angående specialklassundervisning. Det finns behov för anpassad undervisning för en del elever. Skolor har nedskärningar och hårt drabbade är de elever som är i behov av särskilt stöd. Begreppet en ?skola för alla? är något pedagoger försöker att nå i skolorna i dag.

"Jag känner att jag inte hade klarat det om jag inte hade haft dom". Elevers syn på det specialpedagogiska stöd de får

Syfte: Att undersöka och jämföra det specialpedagogiska stödet på två sektioner i samma skola, utifrån elevernas perspektiv. I förlängning syftar studien till att kunna öka kunskap om hur stödinsatserna fungerar och kan förbättras på skolan.Tidigare Forskning: Specialpedagogik anses vara en tvärvetenskaplig förlängning till pedagogik som handlar om att följa samhällets riktlinjer och sätts in där den vanliga pedagogiken inte räcker till. Historiskt sätt beskrivs tre perioder sedan folkskolans införande; icke- differentiering, differentiering och integrering, som leder fram till nutiden då stor vikt läggs på specialpedagogiskt stöd i skolan. Alla skolor anses dock inte möta elevernas behov. Utifrån elevens syn beskrivs lärarens roll som ett viktigt inslag i skolupplevelserna samt i elevens självvärdering.

Utifrån Normaliseringsprincipen och demokratiska strömningar under andra hälften av 1900-talet påbörjades på skolområdet en integreringsprocess. Begreppet inkludering introducerades senare för att markera skolans ansvar i frågan. Trots inkluderingsuppdraget har avskiljande lösningar inom skolan åter blivit vanliga. Studier om rörelsehindrade barns skolvardag visar att det förekommer många exkluderande situationer i skolan, ofta omedvetna och i tron att dessa är bäst för eleven. Dessa situationer är en följd av att skolan inte arbetar på organisationsnivå med inkluderingsfrågor.Syftet med denna studie har varit att belysa inkluderingsaspekter i skolan för elever med rörelsehinder.

Since the nineteen-fifties, the American political scientist Robert Dahl (born in 1915) has been one of the most prominent democracy theorists in the world. In the book Politics, Economics, and Welfare, he and his colleague Charles E. Lindblom in 1953 introduced the notion of polyarchy as a denomination for the incomplete democracies of the Western world. Linguistically speaking, this notion was formed in connection with the ones already existing in the philosopher Aristotle's (384-322 B.C.) comparative teachings on government. Later, it has become apparent that the notion of polyarchy has already been in use by other authors, such as Johannes Althusius (1614) and Sir Ernest Barker (1947).Robert Dahl has been active at Yale University (in New Haven, Connecticut, USA), and is regarded as one of the foremost representatives of the political-science discipline known as pluralism.

Background: Infection with Human Papillomavirus, HPV, is one of the world's most common sexual transmitted infections. The virus causes genital warts (condyloma) but certain virus types can cause cancer. The most common cancer type caused by the virus is cancer of the cervix. Nowadays there is a screening program for women between 23 and 60 years of age where Pap smears of the cervix is taken to discover abnormalities at an early stage. Cervical cancer is very common all over the world and this screening program saves many lives, but not in the less developed countries since the screening program is too expensive.
