Lärlingsutbildning som skolform : Hur ställer sig lärare, elever och handledare till det?
The purpose with my study was primarily to illuminate the students' expectations on gained knowledge during their studies at the upper secondary school Hotel- and Restaurant program, and to what extent these expectations were fulfilled. Secondarily, the purpose was to compare the students' expected and perceived knowledge with the program goals set by the Swedish government and the knowledge requirements expressed in a pilot study made by the Education council of the Hotel and restaurant business (UHR, 2007).I chose a quantative approach and I used an anonymous group enquiry among students at the Hotel- and Restaurant program at two different upper secondary schools to carry out my study.Tendencies in the result suggested that the students at the Hotel- and Restaurant program expected high knowledge level within the competence areas of Guest reception and communication, Cleaning and hygiene, Cooking of cold and hot dishes and Waiting. The expectations were not big within the areas Computers and Internet and Business economics and management.Fulfillment of expected knowledge tended to be high within the areas where the expectations were big. It might therefore be a good investment for schools to work on the student expectations to increase motivation within the low expectation areas.A confrontation of the tendencies in the result with the program goals and the competence requirements expressed in the UHR study, suggested that the upper secondary Hotel- and Restaurant education might focus some more the areas of Guest reception and communication, Beverages and Organization of banquets. Business economics and management should be given much more weight..

Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to compare and analyze Malmö Aviation and Rica Talk Hotel's service culture. This is done by examining three themes, the organizations ways of working with training, motivation and empowerment of frontline employees.Method: The essay is a case study-based qualitative research which mainly focuses on semi-structured, qualitative interviews with various people within the two organizations.Theory: The theoretical framework considers theory within two sections. The first section, the organizations importance in service quality, focuses on service culture or service climate and different management strategies. Section two, the employees? importance in service quality, focuses on three themes: training, motivation and empowerment of frontline employeesResults: Both Malmö Aviation and Rica Talk Hotel are companies that put great emphasis on developing and maintaining a quality service culture within the organization.

Syfte och frågeställningar: Genom en publikstudie undersöka i vilken utsträckning följare av reality serien Paradise Hotel uppfattar deltagarna och deras relationer som verkliga. I vilken utsträckning uppfattar publiken deltagarna och deras relationer som äkta och verkliga? Hur uppfattar publiken deltagarnas beteende samt agerande i den iscensatta miljön de befinner sig i? Metod och material: Studien är gjord som en kvalitativ publiksstudie där det empiriska materialet består av fyra stycken inledande intervjuer som sedan följs av två fokusgrupper med fyra deltagare i respektive grupp. Materialet transkriberas, kodas och tolkas utifrån Ervin Goffman dramaturgiska perspektiv. Huvudresultat: Efter genomförda fokusgrupper kan slutsatser dras kring den verklighet följare av Paradise Hotel upplever.
Vad är magi? : Magibegreppet och dess definitioner
In this study environmental work in the Swedish Hotel chain "Scandic" is investigated. Earlier studies point out sustainability and different environmental certificate programs as essential for the housing sector to contribute to sustainable tourism. The purpose and willingness to fulfill such a mission has been investigated by interviewing central actors in the Hotel chain. The result shows that there is a desire to be part of environmental certificate programs mainly for the reason to be part of the system and not for the benefit of nature. Sustainable development is understood as being environmentally friendly. Different solutions to adapt and being more environmentally friendly is discussed.

Background:Companies are beginning to see the world as their market; not only to seek global opportunities but also to oversee the global competition. Although most people connect globalization to export and import of goods, the globalization process also affect the businesses distinguished by service. The corporations are faced with higher demands of adaptation, which in turn leads to higher needs of skills and knowledge, which of course is very important in business such as the Hotel industry. A motivated employee can perform better and furthermore has a stronger sense of belonging to the organization and might therefore be a key to future success of the company.Purpose:The main purpose of this essay is to compare the motivation strategies and reward systems chosen by the management and match this with what the employees are requesting. By doing this we can compare the different objects studied in this essay and furthermore we will be able to see which Hotel that has the best match.

English abstract The culture of Hotel and restaurant work.Dangerous for apprentices and students?The study is based on a survey targeting 50 teachers at chef schools with good geographic distribution of 9 schools. Teachers answer questions on bullying and sexual harassment in the Hotel and restaurant sector, and students practice shock in the meeting with the industry. Students face a hard and tough environment where it is expected that it will suffer a great deal of harassment and degrading treatment as part of a tradition. There seems to be a general but erroneous belief that the professional climate has improved.

Bröd och skådespel åt folket : En kvalitativ analys av realityserien Paradise Hotel och en diskussion om TV4:s och medborgarens roll i offentligheten
Problem: Underhållningsutbudet i TV ökar och televisionens möjligheter att stimulera till debatt och fungera som kunskapskälla riskerar att försvagas. Paradise Hotel, en så kallad realityserie, sändes flitigt i TV4 under våren 2005. Detta program och dess deltagare får stort offentligt utrymme medan många andra program, människor och idéer utesluts från televisionen.Syfte: Vårt syfte är att undersöka Paradise Hotels framställning av genuskategorier och kroppsideal samt att urskilja vilka kulturella mönster som genomsyrar programmet. Vårt syfte är också att diskutera vad Paradise Hotel och TV4:s allt mer underhållningsinriktade programutbud kan tänkas innebära för medborgarnas deltagande i det offentliga livet.Metod: Undersökningen baseras på en kvalitativ dokumentanalys och litteraturstudier. Vårt empiriska material består av tio avsnitt av Paradise Hotel samt material från seriens officiella hemsida.

This report will show the energy usage of Hotel Princess in Sandviken, Sweden. When the Hotel changed owner an examination of the Hotels heating, ventilation and sanitary systems were done. The report showed flaws in the ventilation system, and is why the new owner wanted a closer look at the energy use of the Hotel. The original building was built in the 1930s and two major extensions have been built, one in the 1950s and the most recent in the 1980s. An assumption made is that the building parts were built to the restrictions during the time. Activities on the Hotel include sleep over, conference, night club, massage and swimming in the Hotels pool section.
Serviced apartments in Sweden: Is there a growth opportunity?
The common drivers for Hotel accommodation are tourism and business travel and Hotel demand seem to outstrip supply in many places. More than 50 % of visitors to Sweden stay at a traditional Hotel but is there room for alternate accommodation like serviced apartments besides the traditional Hotel for people visiting? These are usually referred to as extended stay or long-stay accommodation. The aim of this thesis project is to explore whether there are growth opportunities for serviced apartments in Sweden. A secondary aim of the thesis project is to identify challenges (if any) to this segment and also to identify the major operators of serviced apartments in Sweden.

The purpose of this study is to analyze and specify the characteristics of servicescapes in the Hotel industry and its role when building a brand. Further, the aim is to put forward how Management in this sector strategically utilizes the location to manage the staff in order to help build a strong lasting brand. To fulfill our purpose we have targeted one overall question - What purpose does servicescape have when building a solid brand name in the Hotel sector?In today?s society brands play an integral part in influencing our buying behavior and are now considered to be a new business tool to communicate a business trough.
