Flaxseed oil is very rich in these fatty acids and has also been highlighted as an affordable and sustainable source.Objective: To investigate whether ALA-fatty acids from flaxseed oil may affect blood pressure in people with high risk for cardiovascular disease.Search strategy: Two searches in PubMed and Scopus were performed. The sample was specified by using specific keywords.Selection criteria: The criteria for inclusion of studies required that flaxseed oil was compared with a control and that blood pressure was measured as an endpoint.

Många patienter är osäkra på vad arbetsterapi innebär och vet därför inte vad de ska förvänta sig avbehandlingen. Förväntningarna på arbetsterapin påverkar också hur själva behandlingen upplevs.Syftet med denna uppsats var att beskriva patienters förväntningar på arbetsterapi, upplevelser av denarbetsterapi de fick samt den upplevda nyttan av arbetsterapi. Metoden som valdes var en kvalitativsemistrukturerad intervjustudie eftersom den ger möjlighet att få förståelse för deltagarens upplevelserkring ett visst område. Fem intervjuer genomfördes. Deltagarna var mellan 65-86 år, båda könen varrepresenterade och de hade någon form av stroke eller ortopedisk åkomma.

The sun is essential to life on earth and no matter where you are, there is a constant need ofenergy. Nearly 800 000 years ago man learned for the first time to use fire in a controlled way.Since then, fire has given us the opportunity to inhabit places despite a cold climate. In Swedenthe resident sector accounts for a major part of the total consumption of energy. In a time whenenvironmental issues and greenhouse effects are increasing, we also see a future of rising energyprices. With this perspective, we have in this bachelor thesis in the Building Environment at theRoyal Institute of Technology, KTH, in Stockholm decided to focus on the renewable energysource, solar energy.The energy from solar radiation is a free resource and does not have any negative effects uponthe environment.

The aim of this study was to investigate whether a dietary change, physical activity or a combination of both gave the best result when treating obesity, concerning weight loss and BMI. Excessive weight and obesity are today a big health-issue and it is estimated that 10 % of the men and 12 % of the women in Sweden have a BMI over 30, i.e. are suffering from obesity. The corresponding number for children is 3 %. No one can say for sure what causes obesity but there are many theories.

Today, about 15 to 20 percent of Sweden?s total emission of carbon dioxide can be traced to the household sector. By examining apartment blocks in a life cycle perspective, the origin of the carbon dioxide emission has been charted and analyzed. This information has been used to create a computational model that calculates the total emission of carbon dioxide from a specific apartment block. The results from the analyzed apartment blocks indicate that both the use of energy and the emission of carbon dioxide have been reduced since the 1960s. Through the examination of building materials, it is possible to lower the emission of carbon dioxide that origins from the construction phase of an apartment block.

Myxomatous mitral valve disease is a common disease in older dogs of small- to medium-size breeds. The mitral valve, and less commonly the tricuspid valve may be affected which causes them to leak blood from the ventricle to the atrium of the heart during systole. With increasing severity of mitral valve leakage the forward stroke volume ejected into the aorta decreases, which may lead to an increase in blood pressure in the pulmonary vein resulting in pulmonary edema. A decrease in cardiac output may lead to a decrease in blood pressure, but the body may respond in order to normalize the blood pressure. Franzén showed in 2007 that the systolic blood pressure was increased in dogs with severe mitral insufficiency.

Dysfagi, sväljningssvårigheter, kan följa som sekundärt symptom till en annan sjukdom, exempelvis stroke. För att patienter med dysfagi ska få bästa möjliga vård är ett väl fungerande teamarbete av yttersta vikt. Det är logopeden som utför bedömning vid sväljningssvårigheter samt ger råd och rekommendationer. De teammedlemmar som har störst daglig kontakt med berörda patienter och som är närvarande i matningssituation är omvårdnadspersonal såsom sjuksköterskor och undersköterskor. Det åligger i många fall dem att mata patienter på ett säkert och tryggt sätt samt att även i övrigt följa de råd och rekommendationer som givits.

Syftet med studien var att beskriva arbetsterapeuters erfarenheter av stödjande och hindrande faktorer i rehabiliteringen för personer med neglekt. Som metod valdes en kvalitativ ansats utifrån syftet, och datainsamling skedde genom ostrukturerade intervjuer med sex legitimerade arbetsterapeuter verksamma inom strokerehabilitering i Mellansverige. Materialet analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys vilket resulterade i två kategorier: ?Att medvetandegöra och minska svårigheter i aktivitet är en utmaning? och ?Valet mellan att träna eller att få aktiviteter i vardagen att fungera är en balansgång?. I resultatet framkom att nedsatt medvetenhet om svårigheter i aktivitet hos personer med neglekt utmanar det kliniska arbetet och att arbetsterapeuter strävar efter att medvetandegöra personen genom aktivitet och anpassning av miljön.

Background: Type 2 diabetes is a disease which causes vascular damage, stroke and premature death.Oxidative stress may play a role in the development of insulin resistance and diabetes. Selenium is amineral involved in the protection against oxidative stress, and has been thought to be favorable in theprevention of the disease. However, this has changed since trials observed positive correlationsbetween high selenium levels and incidence of type 2 diabetes.Objective: To examine the studies that investigates seleniums effect on the incidence of typ 2 diabetesSearch strategy: Searches have been done in PubMed and Scopus.Selection criteria: Included studies were human studies in English/Swedish with RCT or cohortdesign with the aim to investigate the correlation between selenium and incidence of type 2 diabetes.Excluded studies were studies whose aim was to investigate the role of selenium in patients withexisting diabetes. Studies regarding pregnant women, animals or children and with in vitro design werealso excluded. Of the studies found in Scopus where MeSH terms were available, the ones who did notinclude relevant terms were excluded.Data collection and analysis: Studies were collected according to the aforementioned criteria.

Städerna växer och samtidigt ökar efterfrågan på närodlade och ekologiska grödor. För att klara av att producera närodlat och mer hållbart skulle ett alternativ vara att odla i så kallade vertikala växthus. I Kiruna finns Sveriges största malmgruva som drivs av företaget LKAB vars olika processer leder till spillvärme. I Kiruna är klimatet kallt jämfört med större delen av Sverige och därför erfordras uppvärmning om odling ska kunna ske året runt i ett växthus. Examensarbetets uppgift är därför att undersöka hur man kan utnyttja spillvärme till ett vertikalt växthus i samband med en ny kontorsbyggnad på LKABs gruvområde.

In this report the two authors, and project contributors alike, describe their work withdeveloping a solar cooker intended for usage in the developing countries of the world.Specifically, the work aims at developing a new, solar heat driven cooking device, possiblybased upon the current product. This should, in comparison to the current product, be lighter,easier to transport and to produce. Also, the new product?s production mustn?t be more costlythan today and the included materials and components must be obtainable from within theBolivian national borders where the product is currently produced. During the project, certainadvantages with a more efficient, and, above all, a more moderately priced product, werediscovered.

Introduktion: Efter en förvärvad hjärnskada kan det inte tas för givet att kroppen upplevs som självklar i vardagslivet. Många har både fysiska och kognitiva funktionsnedsättningar.Syfte: Studiens syfte var att få en fördjupad förståelse för hur personer med förvärvad hjärnskada upplever sin kropp och fysisk aktivitet i det dagliga livet.Metod: Intervjuer genomfördes med 15 strategiskt utvalda personer som hade utretts för förvärvad hjärnskada. De intervjuades vid ett tillfälle 1-5 år efter debuten. Personerna var i yrkesverksam ålder och hade lättare motorisk och/eller lätt/måttlig kognitiv, emotionell eller personlighetsmässig funktionsnedsättning. Intervjuerna transkriberades och analyserades med the Empirical Phenomenological Psychological Method (EPP-metoden).Resultat: Ett övergripande tema och sex huvudteman identifierades.

Today, there are no regulations saying that cows must have access to some kind of shelter at pasture during the summer. In more tropical countries, it is well-known that dairy cows might suffer from heat stress when exposed to sun and high temperatures. The well-being of the cows is thereby reduced and the production may also decrease. In Sweden, no research has been done in the area and therefore it is now a clear need of improved knowledge.The purpose of this study was to investigate the importance of shade for dairy cows in Sweden. The behaviour of 30 cows was examined to see any differences between cows with access to shade and cows without access to shade.

Två olika värmesystem i två flerbostadshus har analyserats. Målet med analysen är att få en uppfattning om vilket värmesystem som är mest fördelaktigt i flerbostadshus. I analysen jämförs två olika värmesystem. I värmesystemen används två olika sorters frånluftsvärmepumpar för att återvinna värme ur frånluften. När värmepumparna inte klarar av att producera tillräckligt med värme för att täcka fastighetens värmebehov används fjärrvärme som spetsning.

The task was to design and manufacture a submersible displacement pump working with the wobble plate principle. The main task for the Wobble plate pump is to be used as a sewage pump for smaller households or dewatering pump in environments where small flows and high pressures are acquired. For these purposes ITT Flygt sell a screw pump, PC-Grinder 3068. The hydraulic part of the PC-Grinder is manufactured by a subcontractor. Therefore ITT Flygt wants to evaluate an alternative to their screwpump PC-Grinder, which can be entirely manufactured by them self.
