This essay aims to explain the fluctuations in the Swedish transition rate to higher education between 1923 and 2002. With theories of human capital, and screening, as points of departure, seven variables are selected and their correlation with the transition rate investigated by use of graphs and tables. The variables are unemployment, youth unemployment, the supply of academics, cohort size, number of high school graduates from programs preparing for ensuing studies, relative wage trends for worker categories with differing levels of education, and structural phase. Results show that no single variable nor the theories of human capital or screening can explain the fluctuations in transition rate in full. Instead I propose a theoretic model which amalgamates the above and places risk aversion as the driving force behind the individual?s educational decision.

The distributioncentral of Stadium has an area of 31,6 acre and is being build in Herstadberg in the region of Norrköping. It is Mattssons Fastighetsutveckling (Mattssons Real-estate development) who also has ordered the building. They will also take care of the operation and support of the distributioncentral. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur nationella föreställningar producerats och reproducerats inom den svenska scoutrörelsen.Jag har funnit scoutrörelsen intressant att studera därför att den å ena sidan uppstod i en nationalistisk kontext och å andra sidan utgjorde en internationell organisation med internationalistiska strävanden.Denna uppsats utgår från att föreställningar om nationen konstrueras i förhållande till något annat, att Sverige och "svenskhet" formuleras med utgångspunkt i föreställningar om begreppens motsatser. "Vi" uppstår i relation till "de andra". I denna uppsats analyserar jag koloniala föreställningars närvaro i scoutmaterialet och använder dessa för att på så sätt dyrka upp föreställningarna om nationen och om "oss". Detta görs utifrån en diskursanalytisk utgångspunkt med inspiration från postkolonial teori som erbjuder en teoretisk ansats till förklaring av den interaktion i föreställningarna mellan "vi" och "de andra"..

För att möjliggöra en omfördelnings- och stabiliseringspolitik använder sig vissa länder, såsom Sverige, av utjämningssystem. En alltför omfattande utjämning riskerar emellertid att ske på bekostnad av möjligheten att anpassa kompensationen efter faktiska kostnader. This essay discusses the development of swords in the southern region of Sweden, Skåne. It attempts to locate the areas in Europe where the swords were first made and, in doing so, trace the communication routes by which people traveled. The essay deals with aperiod of a few hundred years, from the late eighth century to sometime around 1300. In that sense, it is therefore also a time study tracing the cultural changes and developments in Skåne during the era of Christianization. Does the development of swords follow the overall changes in society, from an isolated pagan district to a Catholic European community, or not? In answering this question, eight swords were selected and put under closer observation.

Den totala summan av offentlig upphandling i Sverige uppskattas överstiga 500 miljarder svenska kronor årligen. När en offentlig upphandling skall genomföras skapas ett förfrågningsmaterial från upphandlaren genom vilket leverantörer får lämna anbud om att kunna slutföra det kontrakt som erbjuds. När anbuden kommer in är det upphandlarens uppgifter att avgöra vilket anbud som är det mest fördelaktiga, detta genom att väga olika faktorer emot varandra. Denna studie undersöker ifall faktorn pris prioriteras i denna beslutsfattande situation från upphandlaren.

This essay focuses on the function and development of city harbors during the middle ages in the Scanian part of Öresund. The purpose of the survey is to take a closer look at topography, development and activities on the shores in three coastal cities along the west coast of Scania. The cities that has been part of the survey are: Skanör ? Falsterbo, Malmoe and Landskrona, three cities that follows each other chronologically and that show both similarities and differences in appearance, function and urbanization.The cities of Skanör ? Falsterbo and Malmoe were important market places for the medieval Scania market with the herring fishery in focus. The cities? birth has to be looked upon in relation to these activities.

The aim of this study is to examine Turkish nationalism in order to find what factors that play a part in Turkey's inability to confess and discuss such events as the Armenian Genocide, which took place between the years of 1915.-1923, by the fall of the Ottoman Empire. The factors found and examined closely are collective memory and the use of history. The paper is a case study of Turkey with a theoretical approach, trying to apply theories of nationalism, collective memory and history-writing on Turkish nationalism, in order to find an answer to how these factors stands in the way of reconciliation.Conclusions are that Turkey as a nation is stuck in a romanticization and glorification of the time of their founding leader, Atatürk, and the thought of the pure, homogenous Turkishness. This makes the nation incapable of discussing and accepting what others in this case acknowledges as historical facts. The taboo-making of these matters makes reconciliation today not possible..

Den här uppsatsen har sin utgångspunkt i staden Lund vid tiden för Sveriges nationella omröstning om totalt rusdrycksförbud 1922. Syftet är att belysa den lokala alkoholsyn och de lokala alkoholkulturer som möjliggjort stadens specifika valresultat; ett valresultat som visade det näst lägsta förbudsintresset i hela landet.Uppsatsen försöker beskriva hur stadens olika aktörer och samhällsskikt - såsom arbetare, akademiker, borgerlighet och nykterhetsrörelse - förhållit sig till alkohol och till förbudet. Med hjälp av bl.a. arkivmaterial och tidningsartiklar ges små glimtar in i lundabornas alkoholrelaterade umgängesliv, och hur detta satte sina spår i valpropagandan.Uppsatsen visar hur alkohol använts för att organisera tillvaron, och inte minst dess avgörande betydelse som källa till gemenskap och samvaro. En problematik som blir aktuell i arbetet är svårigheten att dra slutsatser utifrån källor som inte ger tillfredsställande information..
