Universeum är mer än ett komplement till den vanliga undervisningen
Science center har visat sig vara en utmärkt plats för undervisning. Detta är en studie av på vilket sätt ett skolbesök på ett science center kan bidra till att målen för år 9 uppnås och om ett besök på ett science center kan utgöra ett komplement till den vanliga skolundervisningen. Särskilt studeras ämnesområdet astronomi och kosmologi (universum och vårt solsystem) i ämnet fysik. Undersökningen är gjord på Universeum i Göteborg. Metoden i undersökningen är intervjuer och observationer.
Artbrott -en institutionell bastard i gränsskiktet mellan statsvetenskap och juridik?
This paper deals with a partly new development in the Swedish law system, somewhere in the boundary between political science and jurisprudence. A new instrument -artbrott- has successively become more popular among lawyers and politicians. The new instrument -here translated to classified crimes- signifies that the perpetrator is sentenced to prison even though the seriousness of the crime committed is not in itself serious enough for such a consequence. The reason for this policy stance is to create a prevention against crime of that specific character among the public. The use of this instrument has grown considerably both concerning types of crimes as well as in application.
En problemlösningsapplikation för Sveriges schackförbund
The purpose of this project was to investigate whether it was possible to develop a type of application, where users would solve chess problems. The main goal of the project was that there would exist an functional application after the study has ended with which users could solve chess problems on a computer. One subgoal of the project was to create corresponding application for mobile phones. The study was limited to require users to have at least Internet Explorer 9 +. For other browsers, there were no corresponding limitations.

Systemutveckling är ett av de områden som snabbt har etablerat sig på
marknaden. Trots detta faktum har inte själva utvecklingsprocessen förändrats
nämnvärt under åren som gått. Samma problem som fanns beskrivet i böcker från
början av 90-talet cirkulerar fortfarande inom detta område.
Många av de problem som uppstår inom systemutveckling kan leda till system som
inte fungerar på rätt sätt. Det kan även leda till högre kostnader och
missnöjda kunder som i sin tur leder till lägre inkomster.
Development of Liquid Cooling for PCs
In recent years, existing solutions for cooling personal computer CPUs have been supplemented by a new product category, factory sealed water cooling loops. These systems, consisting of a water block with an integrated pump, a fan and a radiator, perform well compared to the air cooling solutions but are less effective than larger, custom-built water cooling systems.This project aims to explore the most important aspects of a factory sealed system and to identify possible cost-effective enhancements of the performance.The most significant differences between the different groups of water cooling loops are the block design and the pumping power. The performance of both categories is also largely dependent on the fan power, but increasing fan power has a large negative impact on the noise level.Both radiator size and fan model choice appear, in tests, to be relatively unimportant, presuming that the noise level is kept constant. The position and direction of the fan, however, has significant impact on both the temperature and the sound level.Water blocks can be designed in several different ways, both regarding the heatsink design and the flow direction. In simulation, flow with the inlet centered above the heatsink result in considerably lower pressure drop and slightly higher temperatures than flow through the block, for heatsinks with fin arrays.Creating a competitive product in this product segment certainly seems possible, as there are performance-increasing changes to be made that seemingly has little impact on the production cost.
GROWTH: En studie om hur man kan skapa liv i en post-apokalyptisk spelvärld
Detta arbete undersöker frågan om hur man kan gå tillväga för att skapa en
känsla av liv i en postapokalyptisk spelvärld med hjälp av färger, former och
animationer i en egen spelproduktion. Arbetet tar upp flera teorier kring
spelutveckling, post-apokalyptisk fiktion och färglära. Arbetet tar också upp
verktyg som användes i produktionen av det spel som skapades och hur arbetet
fortskred. Diskussionen som följer tar upp hur metoderna som användes påverkade
resultatet och vad resultatet blev, samt hur man gick tillväga för att tolka
det. Slutsatsen som dras i diskussionen visar att det är möjligt att skapa en
känsla av liv i en postapokalyptisk spelvärld i en egen produktion och hur man
kan förbättra de metoder som använts i en eventuell uppföljning av detta
arbete.
Tredimensionell sensorscanner
This report is a bachelor thesis presented at the department of Computer science andEngineering at Chalmers University of Technology. The aim for the project is to find a simplemethod to measure and display physical quantities in a three dimensional room.The report describes a method to construct a system for measuring differentphysical quantities via sensors. The system must be built in a modular and expandable way tobe adaptable to different tasks.The system explained in the report consists of two parts;A physical scanner with moveable probes for carrying sensors and a microcontroller forcontrolling the probes and communicating with the next part.An application written in Java for storing the measured values and presenting them in a lucidperspective.It is possible to construct the scanner with different designs and circuitry, with multiplexers andflip-flops, to ensure that an unspecified number of probes can be added to the system and thatthey can be operated simultaneously.The Java application is written in a modular way, using a design pattern that separates eachindividual part of the application. It contains exceptions and interfaces that ensure a safe andexpandable application..
Skriftbruket hos två elever på yrkesförberedande program: En skriftetnografisk undersökning
This essay elucidates upper secondary students? literacy practices, (literacy events, literacy competencies and literacy culture) during a typical day, with focus on the daily literacy practices. A literacy ethnographic study conducted in the environment which participants naturally are, at home, at school and in leisure. The study is inspired of a project, Skriftbruk i arbetslivet, ´Literacy Practices in Working Life´, that conducted by Anna-Malin Karlsson, Per Ledin and Olle Josephson, in collaboration with Vetenskapsrådet ´Science Council´(2002-2004).The result of this study shows that students from professional preparing programs not use such literacy competencies that been tested in traditionally reading comprehension test, particularly much. However, do they read a lot during the literacy practices day by television, computer and mobile phone.
Implementering av ARINC429 testutrustning med 16 kanals kommunikationskort och dataSIMS
This bachelor thesis includes two different manuals and design of an interface box between a test object and a general test station (computer) with ARINC429 communication.There are three different purposes with this project:The first is to setup a general test station with ARINC429 communication using a communications card from DDC (DD-42916i3-300) and software from Ampol Technologies (dataSIMS).The second is to design a new interface between the test computer and the test object. As well as implementing two components in the equipment.The third is to write two separate manuals to guide the users of this equipment. There are two different kinds of users of this equipment, technicians and system engineers. Technicians use the equipment to test and repair flight components. System engineers will implement new components in the equipment.The result of this project is a working test station with a new interface and two manuals..
Fluidrörelse- och värmetransportsmodellering i götugn
The purpose of this thesis for Sapa Heat Transfer is to examine a furnace in which aluminium is pre-heated before hot rolling. The project is modeled in a computer environment in which the air flow in the furnace and the heat transfer to the aluminium solids are included. The computer environment and its governing equations, as well as boundary conditions and generalizations, are presented and explained.The simulations are based on two models. The first model has an asymmetric solid placement, which is how it looks in today's ovens. It is validated against collected data.
Intranät En kommunikationskanal för alla?
Intranet is today a common technical groupware to communicate in many organisations. People can interact through the Intranet and communicate within the organization and get relevant information according to their workplace. It can be difficult to get everybody to use the Intranet as an information- and communication tool. This causes problems when people want to reach out with information. With these thoughts we entered our work at Luftfartsverket at Arlanda airport.
Undervisning i naturkunskap, demokratiuppdraget och interkulturell pedagogik : Kan en interkulturell pedagogik öka intresset och motivationen för ämnet naturkunskap bland elever på samhällsprogrammet?
Since studies points out declining interest in science among students in Swedish schools, I have in this paper chosen to examine how some students at the Social Science Programme are experiencing the lessons in Natural Science and how to make lessons more interesting according to these students.The purpose of this study was to gain a greater understanding of how teachers would develop new perspectives and tools to make lessons in Natural Science more interesting. I also wanted to investigate whether an intercultural perspective could be a possible tool to increase students? interest and motivation.As a theoretical framework, I have assumed Vygotskij's sociocultural perspective, Habermas's theory of deliberative conversations and an intercultural perspective. Through a qualitative approach, I conducted interviews with students and teachers. The main results showed that students felt that natural Science lessons were too theoretical and undemocratic and that they wanted to have more student interactions, such as discussions and group works.
Voxelbaserad rendering med "Marching Cubes"-algoritmen
Det finns flera olika metoder och tekniker för tredimensionell rendering, alla
med olika för- och nackdelar som lämpar sig för olika applikationer.
Voxelbaserad rendering har använts flitigt inom vetenskapliga områden, främst
inom det medicinska för visualisering av volymetrisk data. Tekniken används nu
inom flera olika områden för tredimensionell rendering, t.ex. i datorspel, i
matematiska applikationer och vid geologisk rekonstruktion.
I den här rapporten kommer voxelbaserad rendering med Marching Cubes-algoritmen
undersökas för att se hur den lämpar sig för realtidsapplikationer. Området
behandlas dels teoretiskt, men även praktiskt då en implementering av Marching
Cubes gjordes för att genomföra några tester för att se hur prestandan
påverkades.
Av testerna framkom det tydligt att algoritmen lämpar sig väl för
realtidsapplikationer och dagens grafikkort.
Radiolänk med GNU Radio
At the Department of Technology and Built environment at the University of Gävle there was an interest to study GNU Radio, which is an "open source radio project. The project is based on that most of the radio signal processing is made in an ordinary PC. The idea behind this degree project was that in a laptop there are several radio transmitters/receivers that takes space, generates heat and transmit in varied frequency band etcetera. All these radio transmitters/receivers could be replaced with a Software Defined Radio system. It means that one common, general radio hardware is used to different communications such as: WLAN, Bluetooth, GPRS, 3G etcetera. The waveform is generated in the software, which makes the system very flexible.
Marching Cubes med Deferred Rendering motor
Spel idag kräver en enorm mängd arbetstimmar för att skapas, därför behövs
alltid sätt att spara
tid och automatisera processer. Algoritmer för polygoniseringen av skalärfält,
som Marching
Cubes, har under de senaste åren blivit ett allt vanligare tillvägagångssätt
för att automatiskt
generera terräng.
Scenkomplexiteten och kraven för visuell kvalitet i dagens spel ökar ständigt.
Därmed kommer
också kravet för prestandaeffektiva renderingsmetoder. Deferred rendering är en
renderingsmetod som kan hantera scener med stora mängder ljuskällor och hög
scenkomplexitet
samtidigt.
För att undersöka integreringen mellan procedurellt skapad terräng och en
deferred rendering
pipeline, skapades en applikation i DirectX 11 för att undersöka
implementeringen och
potentiella optimeringar av denna integration..
