The purpose of this thesis is to investigate if there are environments that use some kind of central authentication system within institutions/schools. The hypothesis is that an institution not using a form of central authentication service has more need for maintenance and as such is considered a higher cost for the organization. The gathering of data has been done through interviews with technical personal at Blekinge Tekniska Högskola and Linköpings Universitet. Based on the technical background of the authors, and the system limited to discussing Windows and UNIX operating systems, a discussion and analysis of the systems working today has been done, with emphasize on the hypothesis..

The computer consultant company Create in Lund AB wishes to facilitate their invoice routines, as it at present is required that the administration finds and compares information from two different systems.The purpose of this thesis is to develop an invoice management system that simplifies the invoice management process for the administration at Create. During the development of the system, I have chosen to follow the software development process Unified Process and also tried to find design patterns that can be applied to the integration.The result of my project is a self-contained application developed using the Java programming language that communicates with the databases of the other two systems and presents relevant information to the user as a set of invoices. Of the 23 design patterns I studied, I used four of them in the invoice management system. However I couldn?t find any connection between any design pattern and the integration of systems.

Vår studie bygger på  fokusgruppintervjuer gjorda med elever vilka går första året på gymnasiet på studieförberedande program. Vi har riktat in oss på området ekvationer och algebra. Där har vi undersökt dels vilka lösningsstrategier  elever  föredrar och vilka svårigheter som är vanliga, och dels vilka attityder  elever har kring detta område  samt  vad som orsakar dessa. Intervjuerna spelades in och transkriberades därefter. I analysen använde vi oss av en vidgad definition av ordet lösningsstrategier som innefattar både vilka matematiska modeller och strategier som eleverna använder samt hur de går tillväga när de kör fast på en uppgift.

Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att undersöka elevers uppfattningar om algebra och problemlösning samt granska hur dessa uppfattningar påverkas beroende på elevernas val av gymnasieprogram, kön och slutbetyg i grundskolan. Syftet är vidare att ta reda på vilka eventuella hinder och svårigheter eleverna själva uppfattar då de använder algebra för att lösa matematiska problem. Som metod för att söka svar på syfte och frågeställningar har valts att genomföra en enkätundersökning med elever som går första året på gymnasiet och som läser antingen naturvetenskapsprogrammet eller bygg- och anläggningsprogrammet. Enkätundersökningen består av två delar, en del som undersöker elevers uppfattningar om matematik i allmänhet och algebra och problemlösning i synnerhet, samt en del som försöker reda ut vilka svårigheter eleverna uppfattar då de ska lösa matematiska problem med algebra. Svaren sammanställs genom en analys av vilka eventuella skillnader och likheter som finns beroende på elevernas val av gymnasieprogram, kön och betyg i grundskolan.

How does the computer influence teenagers' lives. I interviewed five young people, and gave a questionnaire to another 47, about this.What I found was that they were aware of and handled well the risks with the Internet and the computer, but had problems with the computer taking too much of their time. They wanted more time for their families and outdoor activities. It was mainly the Internet that seemed to have an influence on the teenagers, not the computer as a machine. They told me that there was a rough climate on the Internet, partly because of the possibility of being anonymous.

This Masters thesis concerns computer games in Swedish public libraries. We have investigated the opinions of public librarians concerning what they think about computer games, and to what extent they believe it should be a part of the public library. The method we have chosen is qualitative interviews. The theory we have used is a pedagogical literature strategy, which we have reformulated so that it fits our investigation. The results show that the interviewed public librarians think that the library should offer computer games for children and youths to use at the library, and that they should offer computer games for lending, to all the library users.

This Batchelor?s Thesis concerns 20 points at the MDA-program (People, Computers and Work) at Blekinge Institute of Technology in Ronneby, Sweden. 10 points concerns Computer Science and 10 points Human Work Science. The thesis is about the process of starting a new department of Blekingesjukhuset [Blekinge Hospital] in Karlshamn, Blekinge called Sjukvårdsrådgivningen [Health Care Advice Bureau]. The thesis starts with a description of the ethnographical methods used, followed by the process of establishing the department. In this new department, the nurses are using a computer based system called Teleråd, developed by TietoEnator. The thesis takes up the issues of how the department uses this system today and concerns what ?user-friendliness? is.

Trends in International Mathematics (TIMSS) är en internationell studie som undersöker hur elever presterar i matematik och naturvetenskap i årskurs 4 och 8. Sedan första TIMSS undersökningen genomfördes år 1995 har matematikresultatet för svenska elever i framförallt algebra sjunkit, jämfört med andra länder som är med i undersökningen (Skolverket, 2012).Denna studies syfte är att undersöka förhållandet mellan aritmetik och algebrauppgifter i läromedel för årskurs 3. Studien har använt sig av två olika läromedelsserier, för att kunna genomföra studien behövdes ett utarbetat och trovärdigt analysverktyg som svarade på studiens syfte. Därför används Bernsteins (1990) begrepp klassifikation och ramar för att undersöka hur gränserna mellan de olika matematikområdena aritmetik och algebra i matematikläromedel för årskurs 3 upprätthålls.Resultatet visar att de fyra olika analyserade läromedlen innehåller väldigt få uppgifter om algebra. Den ena läroboksserien har ett tydligt förhållande mellan aritmetik och algebrauppgifter, det vill säga att det finns en tydlig gräns mellan matematikområdena.

When investigating mechanical problems it is often more convenient to deal with scalars rather than vectors. In this project methods stemming from the field of analytical mechanics, which lets one derive the equations of motion using scalar quantities instead of vectors, have been used. Two mechanical problems were investigated, a double pendulum with a spring and particles orbit in a sphere. The equations of motion of the two systems were derived with the assistance of computer algebra, using Maple and the external package Sophia. The systems were investigated with regard to periodicity and conserved quantities..

Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka förekomsten av värden och värderingar i matematikläroböcker för gymnasieskolans kurs Matematik A. En modell som tidigare använts vid analys av värden i matematikläroböcker i Singapore och Australien ligger till grund för granskningen. Modellen utvecklas och tillämpas för analys av sammanlagt 472 övningsuppgifter i tre kapitel i tre utvalda matematikläroböcker. De utvalda kapitlen behandlar området algebra. Modellen visade sig vara tillämpbar i en svensk utbildningskontext.

As part of an internship at Ericsson, this report was written to enhance the understanding of how it is to develop a system that is well established at the workplace. To improve an already existing system is not always as easy as many developers may think. In this report the pros and cons of developing an already existing system has been researched and analyzed. Do note that the results are only from one development of a specific system and that comparison of other developments has been made from other reports and not from experiencing it firsthand. It was found that the choices made can have an impact on further developing and it is important to write down what has been done.
