Abstract:Perennials in public areas have during the latest decades been more and more popular. This group of plants has become a more accepted komponent when creating pleasant public places, and people begin to see the functional aspects. Perennials do also give a colour- and senceexperience in a more detailed way than can be achieved with only trees and shrubs. One of the ojects of this essay is to give more examples of motives for using perennials in urban areas.Having in mind the increasing use of perennials, you can expect a growing need for better understading of how to create successfull perennial plantings. In spite of the increasing interest it is hard to find any written information in this subject.

Denna rapport behandlar ett produktutvecklingsprojekt av ett kompakt japanskt kök. Arbetet är utfört i Tokyo, Japan, och är baserad på metoden systematisk problembehandling. Arbetets slutprodukt är ett koncept för ett kompakt kök anpassat för det japanska hemmet och kulturen. Läsaren kan i form av texter, bilder och skisser på ett enkelt sätt följa arbetsgången från projektets uppstartsfas fram till det slutgiltiga konceptet. Japans huvudstad Tokyo är med sina 12,4 miljoner invånare ofta ansedd som världens största stad.

Analys av elbasnivå för Vålbergsskolan, Karlstads Kommun : Kartläggning av elanvändning nattetid samt undersökning av energieffektiviserande åtgärder.
Examensarbetet har gått ut på att ta reda på varför en del skolor i Karlstads kommun, använder olika mycket el under kvällar, helger och nätter. Skillnaderna är stora och på grund av det har ett nytt begrepp, kallat elbasnivå, definierats. I princip är elbasnivån den effekt som används under de tider som lokalerna inte nyttjas.Efter genomförd rangordning av elbasnivån med hjälp av en egenutvecklad excelkalkyl, för ett urval på 15 skolor i Karlstads kommun, valdes två av dessa ut för vidare utredning. En skola med låg elbasnivå och en skola med hög elbasnivå valdes. Frödingskolan är den skola som har lägst elbasnivå och valdes att fungera som en referensbyggnad.

Inventering och karakterisering av brännbart avfall i
Norrköpingsregionen
The purpose of this study has been to make an inventory of combustible waste in the region around Norrköping and to investigate the composition of domestic waste, industrial waste and two different types of sludge. The work was performed at the request of Norrköping Miljö & Energi, due to the planning of an incineration plant. The inventory of the waste was performed through inspection of environmental impact reports, from waste disposal plants in a number of local government areas in the region. The quantities were also compared to another inventory, carried out in a different way. The characterisation of the wastes was compared to the fuel specification determined by Norrköping Miljö & Energi.
Ekosystemstödjande och multifunktionella växtval i urban miljö : En fallstudie med utgångspunkt i Nacka stadsbildning
This study has investigated how urban vegetation can be used in a multifunctional way to support ecosystem services in urban environments. Nacka municipality is in the start-up phase of building what is to become Nacka city. This provides a unique possibility to study and analyse what role the vegetation play in making the city a healthy living environment and how it needs to be adapted in order to be resilient against changing climate conditions and how the effects of those changes can be regulated. The study further investigates how airborne pollution, caused by urbanization processes, can be regulated or reduced by vegetation or species selection. Methods used in this study were a combination of qualitative interviews and literature studies, seeking to answer the questions: Which specific ecosystem functions are needed in the urban environment and which aspects will influence the ecosystems ability to deliver the functions in demand? And which plant species have the right mechanisms needed to deliver those functions? These questions have been studied and analysed in a local based context where the local conditions ands site specific needs of Nacka define criteria for plant selection.

Vargaslätten is a 15 hectare large privet garden in Halland in the south-west of Sweden.In the beginning of the 1990s Gunnar O.Westerberg, the owner of Vargaslätten,commissioned a work from the young landscapearchitect, Rolf Efvergren, to writeVargaslätten ? tillägnad naturen. It was a discribing work of the current status of the gardenand the summer-house of Vargaslätten. Vargaslätten ? tillägnad naturen was acomprehensive work with a detalied inventory of all the plants, the buildings, the descriptionof the surroundings and the history.
Förutsättningar för återintroduktion av stora gräsätare i Sverige
Biodiversity is under threat in Sweden and many species are on the brink of extinction. This is mainly due to the large-scale drainage projects during the 19th and 20th century and the increasingly intensive land use in agriculture and forestry. The intensive land use with sharply defined boundaries between the production units has in many cases led to either overgrazing or overgrowing. As a result many species have been pushed back to "leftover" habitats like shooting ranges, power line corridors, roadsides, dumps, embankments and other similar areas. Therefore the question has been raised, wether or not it is needed to re-introduce large herbivores into the wild in order to maintain the biodiversity that is related to the extensive land use.This study has been conducted as a literature review and will focus on the European bison?s (Bison bonasus) impact on other species and biodiversity; conditions for reintroducing large herbivores in Sweden are also discussed.Free roaming populations of large herbivores have a positive impact on plants, insects and many other groups of organisms.
Staden som vill något mer : en studie om Linköpings stadsbyggnadsideal
Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka vilka stadsbyggnadsideal som har format Linköping under historiens gång samt att studera de ideal som präglar planering och utbyggnad av staden idag. Med hjälp av en litteraturgenomgång tas utgångspunkten i 1800-talets Europa och i de trender som däri-från format våra städer. Det empiriska material som ligger till grund för studierna av Linköpings stadsbyggnadsideal idag är i första hand hämtat från Linköpings kommuns egna hemsidor men det har också gjorts en kvalitativ intervju med ordförande i Linköpings stadsbyggnadsnämnd. För att få en bred bild av vilka ideal som förekommer har förutom Linköpings översiktliga planer också tre specifika projekt studerats. De tre projekten är Övre Vasastaden som är ett centrumnära ombygg-nadsprojekt, Djurgården som är en nybyggnation mer perifert och närmare naturen samt Linköpings-Bo2016 som är ett visionsfyllt projekt med slutpunkt i en bomässa 2016.Resultatet av litteraturgenomgången visar på att tre dominerande doktriner har präglat stadsbygg-nationen i Europa från 1800-talet till idag.
