Care and solicitude about Swedish documentary heritage has varied substantially throughout the years. The main purpose of this essay has been to investigate what efforts have been made to preserve rare book collections at public libraries. These cultural policies have been studied from both a national as well as local perspective. What we have tried to explore can be condensed into three questions: What national initiatives have been taken in the past century to preserve the municipal documentary heritage?What initiatives have been taken in the past century to preserve thedocumentary heritage of what is presently the municipality of Jönköping? What value do rare book collections at public libraries represent? The results indicate few national efforts were initially made to preserve rare book collections in the timeframe we studied.

Denna uppsats behandlar hur prisbildningen på fastigheter ser ut i Sverige. Syftet är att analysera prisbildningsmekanismer för småhusmarknaden, speciellt fokus läggs på fastighetsskatten. Genom insamling av tidsseriedata på kvartalsnivå för åren 1990- 2007 för hela landet samt regionerna Stockholms län, Sydsverige och mellersta Norrland har regressioner genomförts för att studera olika variablers inverkan på småhuspriserna.Variablerna som studerats är hushållens inkomst, bolåneränta, fastighetsskatt, Affärsvärldens generalindex samt förgående års fastighetspris. Resultaten visar att skatten i viss mån påverkar prissättningen. Vidare konstateras att inkomsten är den viktigaste variabeln samt att bolåneräntan uppvisar signifikanta resultat för prispåverkan..

The aim of this master's thesis is to study how the design of the music library space affects how it is used and its role as an arena for culture. This is done in form of a case study of Library 10 in Helsinki, a public library branch that specializes in music and information technology. The backdrop to the study is the changing context for cultural activity in the information society and the role of public libraries as public space and meeting place. By analyzing the distribution of space in the library, the distribution of functions and artefacts and the spatial use of the room, I interpret the ways in which this distributional logic produces a unique place for music and culture. I discuss the music library design in a space and place perspective, utilizing theoretical tools from cultural geography and the space theories of Henri Lefebvre.

Uppdraget att göra denna studie fick vi av Röda Korsets Behandlingscenter i Skövde och frågor väcktes om hur det kan vara att som flykting komma till ett nytt land och starta om på nytt. Syftet med studien var att söka en fördjupad kunskap om äldre invandrares upplevelser av sin integration i det svenska samhället. Begreppet ?äldre invandrare? syftade på personer födda före 1954 då dessa personer kulturmässigt var de äldre i patientgruppen på RKC. Studien behandlade både män och kvinnor, kategoriserades i olika teman och analyse¬rades därefter ur teoretiska utgångspunkter om identitet och kris.

This master thesis deals with reading and library habits among young male students at the vehicle engineering programme in an upper secondary school. Also their overall opinion of libraries has been looked into. For the completion of this study all of the 43 students in question took part in a questionnaire while 5 of them were interviewed. The result of this statistical survey complemented with more focused interviews show that at some time or another all the students read, but their preference lies within the news and engineering pages of daily newspapers and periodicals. Those who read books choose action and fantasy for content.

Parkeringsproblemet finns i storstäder över hela världen. Med fler människor som skaffar bilar och större städer som inte hinner med i utvecklingen av stadsplaneringen så kommer problemen att öka. Felparkeringsavgifterna i Sverige ökar år efter år och datumparkering är en stor del av det i Gävle. Syftet med arbetet är att utveckla en prototyp på en parkeringsapplikation som på ett enkelt sätt visualiserar var det är tillåtet att parkera. Ett annat delsyfte är att undersöka vad bilförare kan om datumparkering och om en applikation kan hjälpa till att lokalisera platser där det är tillåtet att parkera.

In this thesis we have examined opinions of the social web in Scandinavian Library journals. Our interest lies in aspects about the social web, and above all about Library 2.0. The central question is how this new technology, a growing digitalization, and a social web that focuses on interactivity and participation affects opinions about libraries. We have investigated opinions about Library 2.0, with respect to three different dimensions: The role of the library in society, power/hierarchy and knowledge. The method used in this thesis is idea analysis using these dimensions as analytical instrument.

Bakgrund/problem: På senare år har förtroendet för styrningen i ett flertal statliga och privata organisationer ifrågasätts. Kontrollen och ansvaret inom organisationerna har varit otydlig. Förordningen om intern styr-ning och kontroll är en åtgärd som tagits fram för att regeringen ska kunna säkerställa den interna styrningen och kontrollen inom myndigheter genom ett förtydligande av ansvaret. I förordningen stadgas att det inom myndigheten är ledningen som bär ansvaret för en betryggande intern styrning och kontroll. Fokus i denna studie läggs på att undersöka hur ledningen inom Sida efterlever förordningen.Syfte: Huvudsyftet med studien är att kartlägga hur förordningen om intern styrning och kontroll efterlevs i Sidas organisation.

The purpose of this master´s thesis is to examine how the cultural exchange function of Swedish libraries may be perceived on their websites. A further intention is to examine how the library websites are used at the present. Two quantitative web-based surveys have been sent out to a great number of Swedish public libraries. The first survey was directed to the webmasters of the libraries, in order to review the different services offered by the Swedish library websites of today. The second survey was conducted with library directors, in order to visualise what services they consider ought to be present on their own library website.

Bakgrund och problem: Tidigare studier har visat på att årsredovisningar blivit alltmer omfattande, framförallt de frivilliga upplysningarna. Vissa verksamheter väljer attredogöra för ekonomistyrningsverktyg i sina årsredovisningar. En tidigare studie harundersökt ekonomistyrningsinnovationen Balanced Scorecard och kartlagt hur mycketsom presenteras i årsredovisningar. En jämförelse har gjorts mellan offentliga ochprivata verksamheter där man kommit fram till att offentliga verksamheter har enbenägenhet att skriva mer om BSC än privata verksamheter. Det finns dock inga tidigarestudier som undersökt vad man faktiskt skriver och vilka skillnader som finns mellanprivat och offentlig sektor.

A company library can only exist if it contributes to a positive result for the company. As endusers are beginning to perform searches on the Internet and have access to databases and electronic documents via their desktops it becomes important for company librarians to thoroughly think through what services should be offered to the users so that the library still contributes to the company s profit. The aim of this dissertation was to try to define the services that the company library offers its users having in mind the changes that have taken place concerning the availability of information. I also wanted to explore whether the librarians had the necessary competence to perform the services offered. Six information specialists were interviewed to give their view on the services their libraries offered.

The public libraries in Sweden has an obligation to serve all of its citizens, but despite of this they often fail to include their LGBTQ-patrons. Since the year of 2008 RFSL (the Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Rights) have arranged a specially designed certification-process based on normcritical criterias that a chosen institution should fulfill to make their work more inclusive for LGBTQ-people. Sollentuna is the first municipal in Sweden to certificate all of their libraries. This study aims to examine what the certification have meant for the public library in Sollentuna and how a normcritical view can contribute to include LGBTQ-patrons at the library. As a method we used a qualitative interview-study to get a full picture of the certification-process and its influence on the public library of Sollentuna.

Vi har undersökt relationen mellan VD-ägande och företags aktiekurser på Stockholmsbörsen mellan åren 2002-2007. Denna undersökning har visat på varierande resultat beroende på hur portföljerna är viktade. Genom att titta på avkastningen hos de likaviktade portföljerna, har den med högst VD-ägande haft högst ren avkastning. Detta har vi dock inte kunnat säkerställa rent statistiskt. Däremot kan vi påvisa att Sharpe-kvoten har varit högre för bolag med högt VD-innehav i aggregerade portföljer för hela testperioden.

The theme of this thesis is the professional ethics of public librarians. Qualitative interviews have been conducted with fourteen public librarians, with the aim to investigate their thoughts·and opinions concerning professional ethics and their experiences of ethical dilemmas in professional situations.The result shows that the majority of the librarians often discuss problems concerning what's right or wrong but that the discussions are conducted on the basis of practical situations and not in terms of professional ethics. The majority have vague ideas of how the term professional ethics should be applied on the work of public librarians, though all the interviewees consider the professional ethical discussion to be important.We examine the librarians opinions and experiences of ethical dilemmas conceming four subject areas: the principle of the librarian as a neutral and nonrestricting information intermediary, the principle of equal treatment of all the library visitors, difficulties. concerning media selection and the problems based upon the librarians flexibility towards the intemal rules of the library. The librarians experienced the behaviour towards the visitors as the greatest problem.

Abstract: The aim of this study is to investigate the attitudes towards the labour movement?s strategies, goals and organisational issues in Swedish Miners? Union?s (Gruvindustriarbetareförbundet, hereafter Gruv) paper, Gruvarbetaren 1917-1925.The theoretical starting point is Engels? view on the class state. This perspective turns the question of socialism and the way to get there into an issue of working class power over the state. Another theoretical perspective is the partition of the labour movement into a trade-unionistic branch, seeing unions as financial organisations of interest, and a pro-state one, considering unions as political organisations.During the period investigated Gruvarbetaren was quite radical and advocated a firm class struggle strategy towards employers. Since these were considered unreliable, class struggle was seen as the only way to better the conditions for the working class.
