Today, the catering personnel are an essential part of the safety organization on board Swedish passenger vessels in ferry services. Their responsibilities for the safety on board have increased in connection with the changes in regulations made on the shipping industry. These changes have been mostly related to human factors and structural leadership in the last 25 years.A well-functioning safety organization requires competence and commitment from every individual. Previous researches on Swedish passenger ferries concerning the safety organization have raised issues regarding the catering personnel?s perception of the safety on board.

This paper examined if childrens wellbeing affected their social and academic competence. The data was collected through an anonymous study using questionnaires, where the measuring instruments GHQ12 and EQ was used, and also a number of questions concerning academic competence. The population concisted twentytwo eight grade students, both girls and boys. The population had both Swedish and foreign ancestry. The result showed that wellbeing and the academic competence had a positive correlation.

Denna experimentella studie syftar till att undersöka huruvida en eventuell träningseffekt i frekvensdiskrimination kvarstår efter en tids träningsuppehåll. Tidigare forskning har visat tydliga samband mellan frekvensdiskriminering och talutveckling, kortikal signalbehandling och dyslexi. Det har klargjorts genom tidigare studier att förmågan att diskriminera frekvenser är möjligt att träna upp. Därmed är träning i frekvensdiskrimination en lämplig del i en behandlingsmetod med syfte att utveckla den auditiva perceptionen. Denna studie undersöker de praktiska förutsättningarna till denna behandlingsmetod genom att utreda varaktigheten av den eventuella träningseffekten 14 dagar efter träningen.

This case study, ?The sense of place in a courtyard in Gothenburg?, examines whether the city planners? vision correspond to the residents? perception regarding the sense of place and the physical environment in a courtyard in Gothenburg. By carrying out a questionnaire survey, the inhabitants? perception has been explicated, which we have then compared to the total vision for the design of the courtyard that we have gathered from doing interviews with the planning executive, the developer and the landscape architect as well as reviewing the development plan. The study has shown that the vision coincides relatively well with the residents? perception, but it differenciates when it comes to social aspects.

This thesis explores how verbal and nonverbal signs communicate attitudes and the rhetorical functions of such attitudinal signs. Attitudes are regarded as rationalized evaluations of attitudinal objects, and through their manifestation in signs an attitudinal gestalt is communicated. This gestalt is regarded as the audiences perception of the rhetors attitude. It is shown that the attitudinal signs function as ethical, logical and pathetic proofs and that they can create identification between the audience and the rhetor. The signs can have effects on the audiences perception of the attitudinal objects, their perception of the rhetor and influence the social dynamic of the discourse.

Syftet med vår undersökning har varit att få en ökad förståelse för vilken betydelse de estetiska kommunikationsformerna har i det pedagogiska arbetet och vilket syfte de estetiska kommunikationsformerna har i den pedagogiska verksamheten. Genom undersökningen ville vi därigenom öka kunskapen om hur arbetet med de estetiska uttrycksformerna kan utvecklas i förskolan. Våra frågeställningar har varit: Vilken betydelse har de estetiska kommunikationsformerna i det pedagogiska arbetet? Vilket syfte har de estetiska kommunikationsformerna i den pedagogiska verksamheten? De teorier som vi använt oss av berör våra centrala begrepp som är; auditiv, visuell, kinestetisk, multimodalitet, pedagogroller och miljö. Dessa har kopplats till, samt ifrågasatt resultatet av pedagogernas beskrivning av sitt arbete med de estetiska kommunikationsformerna.

Syftet med denna uppsats har varit att öka förståelsen för kunders perception av företags miljödesign och hur detta påverkar deras uppfattning om företags image. Uppsatsen grundar sig på ett fallföretag, SEB i Lund. Den emiriska analysen har sin grund i kalitativa djupintervjuer gjorda med SEB och med SEBs kunder. Att kunder reflekterar över miljödesign är något som framkommer i studien. The aim of this paper is to examine the layout of public spaces and its effect on human behavior with focus on the relation between pedestrians and cyclists movement patterns in a specific path. The study emanates from the security aspect of pedestrians and cyclists, and builds upon previous theories and empirical studies about perception, security, information design, environmental psychology and behavior. The result shows that individual behavior and movement pattern differs with age, purpose, physical- and other conditions, and layout of the surroundings. A design proposal for improved layout of a path and a node between different oncoming paths has been developed to aid the users? needs, where a separation of walkways and bike lanes forms zones of security for the purpose of better orientation and a better flow between the users..

Nedsatt talperception förekommer hos flera grupper barn som besöker audiologisk och logopedisk klinik. Dessa är exempelvis barn med språkstörning, barn med kognitiva nedsättningar, barn med hörselnedsättningar och barn med (centrala) auditiva bearbetningsnedsättningar (CAPD). För närvarande saknas standardiserade talperceptionstest som ger information om hur barn diskriminerar, identifierar och producerar språkljudskontraster i ord. Det är därför av stor vikt att utveckla diagnosverktyg för att öka möjligheten till ett reliabelt testförfarande och differentialdiagnostisering. Föreliggande studie hade 2 syften.

The purpose of this paper is to study how the perception of an office environment is influenced by different kinds of art settings. The study is made as a survey in which the respondents have been exposed to working environments, only differentiated by the existence of different kinds of art or non-existence of art in the presentation. Title: An encounter with an unknown piece of music. This essay describes the mechanisms involved in musical interpretation, by studying a score and listening to a recording. I have tried to map processes dealing with listening and score reading through an experiment, in which students from the Malmö Academy of Music were presented with a novel piece of music. I have made some conclusions, for instance it seems as though there is a connection in the interpretation between musical complexity and tempo, and a connection between dynamics and pitch, moreover that the participants in this study seem to be affected by the interpretational practice at the Malmö Academy of Music. The study is qualitative in its design both regarding data collection and interpretation of data.
