Every now and then new political ideas appear which creates debate. A current example of political debate is the one which concerns the creation of a feminist political party in Sweden -Feministiskt initiativ. Apparent in the current debate is that there are two existing conflicts of ideas present. The liberal thought of politics of ideas stands against feminism's demand for presence in the political life. And the other, the conflict which concerns the question of where a line between the public and the private spheres should be drawn. To research how these conflicts are reproduced in the current debate, an analyse of ideas is used in this thesis. And the main question which is to be answered is: How are the classical idea conflicts between liberal and feminist theory reproduced in the debate? The result of the analyse shows that the classic conflicts between liberal and feminism ideas are reproduced in several ways. Clearly the debate has been dominated by ideas that argue in favour for liberal ideas like the individuals right to freedom from force. Also the idea of how politics should be organized is an outstanding issue. Liberal voices in the debate clearly prefer a politics that are based on ideas and representation. And he feminist idea of presence for all groups is rejected.
