Dagens amerikabrev : Det är precis som på TV

This master thesis is looking into the Stories on the internet forum www.resedagboken.se. The Stories of Swedish teenaged exchange students in the U.S. are studied and the main purpose is to see both what they are writing about and the reason for why they are spending their time writing down their experiences in a public forum.Even though most of the teenagers here are writing with a specific audience in mind, all the Stories are free to anyone to take part of and this causes a difficult position for the teenagers who often seem to forget the public point of view when they are telling about their personal lives. The study is divided into two parts. The first one looks into the content of the Stories and the other one focuses on the storytellers and their reasons for writing. The teenagers are writing both a lot about their everyday lives in their new environment, but also a lot of things to keep in touch with what their friends and family in Sweden are doing.

SLASH : en kvalitativ undersökning om vad homoerotisk fanfiction kan vara ett uttryck för

The following study is a qualitative combination of textual analysis and interviews concerning the subject of slashfiction. Slash is a sub-category to fanfiction, which essentially means non-professionally authored short Stories about already existing characters and environments, for example from TV-shows, movies or books. These Stories are available on the internet. The main point is to pair two of the male characters together in a sexual relationship. According to previous studies, 90 percent of all fanfiction writers are female and this percentage is probably even higher when it comes to slash.I have looked into what these Stories can be an expression of, by analyzing the construction of gender, sexuality and relationships using the following three questions:Is slash a quest for an ideal equal and romantic relationship?Do these Stories represent a resistance against established norms regarding gender and sexuality? What role does transcendence of boundaries play in slash? I have used Stories that are derived from the American TV show Supernatural, which generally try to explore the relationship between its protagonists, the brothers Sam and Dean Winchester.  The result gives a somewhat divided picture of slash, as some Stories clearly break with traditional gender norms while others seem to uphold them..

The Origin : en jämförande tolkningsstudie mellan två skapelseberättelser, med fokus på kvinnan

The purpose of this paper is to interpret two Stories of creation and compare them to each other with focus on the gender perspective. The interpretation is generally limited to the creation of mankind and how women are represented in each particular story.  The Stories I?m interpreting is the story of creation from the Holy Bible, the so called genesis, and from The Nag Hammadi Library?s story of creation called On the origin of the world. I want to show the difference between these two Stories when it comes to the women?s position and in what level she is described.

Risksäkra liv : i skuggan av systemkollaps

The thesis is based on a case study of a Swedish discussion forum where survivalism and prepping is the main focus. The awareness of an abrupt and immanent breakdown together with a full and thorough preparation for any conceivable threat posed by that breakdown is what legitimizes survivalism and prepping. This preparation, or risk-proofing is 1) grounded in an isolation of the body and its predispositions from perceived risks, and 2) actualized through artefacts, theoretical and practical knowledge and awareness. Stories of the embodied survivalist are also Stories of masculine and heterosexual subjects and ?the others?.

Strategy and change stories at work - Translating ideal official stories into real case stories

When referring to the same event, people can have different assumptions. What is interesting to see is why these assumptions are different, why do people have different Stories? Some of the reasons could be different levels of expectation, different communication channels or even different cultural backgrounds. We have analysed all these by having a case study within a company that has recently gone through a change management/strategy implementation process. The research reviewed in this paper originates in two different worlds. One world is a research world where Stories come from textbooks and articles.

Identitet och berättande : i Oline Stigs Den andra himlen

This essay investigates how the author Oline Stig creates identities for her main characters in three short Stories; Midsommar, Polly Maggoo and Den längsta dagen from the collection Den andra himlen (2007).My investigation is based on concepts chosen from psychology and narratology: First, Jonas Stier?s definition of human identity. In his definition he focuses on a person?s social context. He also considers identity formation as an ongoing, ever- changing process.

Tusen motstridiga röster : Tvära kast, djupa tröstlösa lidanden, och extrema sinnestillstånd i noveller av Ulla Bjerne

This study examines four short Stories- ?Gudarnes like?, ?Vänner?, ?Lolo? and ?Kvinnor? - in a novel called Upptäckter written by Ulla Bjerne in 1918. My aim has been to study whether Bjerne in these Stories writes from a New Woman- position. The New Woman novel as a genre flourished around the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. I have also studied whether Bjerne in these short Stories uses a melodramatic style.

Vad tror blivande religionslärare? En livsberättelsestudie om sex lärarstudenters syn på religion

With this thesis I have examined the views of religion among six comparative religion teacherstudents, with the perspecitve of their life Stories. I have also examined what stance they want to take due to their personal beliefs in their forthcoming teaching. To achive this I have used in-depth interviews among the six soon examined teacher students, and within the interviews I have had a particularly focus on turning points of the students? life Stories. Later on I have used their turning points in an analysis with the hypothesis of ?Rites des Passage? and ?Structure and Anti-Structure?.In my survey I have found a significant relationship between the students? life Stories - inparticularly their backgrounds and tourning points - and their views of religion.

Bortom kjoltyg och byxhängslen : En eklektisk genusanalys av serietidningen Bamse

This study has the purpose to reveal whether gender stereotypes are manifested or challenged in the children comic Bamse - världens starkaste björn based on six different Stories widespread over 40 years. The results will be studied in the light of the contemporary gender development in society and emanate from theories about power, discourse, representation, queer and gender. An eclectic analysis based on semiotics and critical discourse analysis will be the method to reveal the underlying gender perspective in Bamse. The conclusion of the study shows an ambiguous perspective in the comic where both men and women occasionally are represented in a manifested as well as a challenged stereotypical role. In some of the Stories the gender is erased and all characters are represented based on their individual attributes instead, meanwhile in some Stories men are represented as active heroes while women are portrayed as passive nurturer.

Man promenerar i dimma - En studie av flyktingars berättelser om asylprocessen

This essay is based on seven lifestoryinterviews with people who are undergoing orhave undergone a long asylum process. Four women and three men have contributedwith their Stories about their experiences of waiting for a determination of theirapplication for residence permit. The main aim of the essay is to give betterunderstanding of how to be a refugee and a long asylum process affects people's abilityto narrate and thus examine their opportunities to be active in the construction of theirown identity. The questions that are debated and discussed are:? What can it mean for an individual's identity to escape her country and for a longtime wait for decision of asylum?? What Stories can be told?? What reality are highlighted as central in the Stories?? How do they handle their situation and give meaning to their lives? The analysis is based on two main theoretical perspectives: narrative theory and identitytheory. The approach is that people create meaning of events through storytelling andthat they through this process of narrating construct (and reconstruct) their identities -the self image as one have and wants to present to others. In the analysis three different types of Stories are distinguished, Stories that arerepresented in the empirical material: the story that can not be told, the story that mustbe told and the story that are gladly told.

?Jag vill ju gå i en normal skola men det kommer aldrig att funka? Sex institutionsplacerade flickors erfarenheter och tankar om sin skolgång

The purpose of this study is that the Stories provide insight into and understanding of institutionalized girls experiences and views on their schooling, and from their Stories also explore how schools can create opportunities for students who challenge. An overriding purpose is also that the girls? life Stories in the long run lead to a school developing work. To provide a better understanding of the girls, qualitative methods with a narrative approach have been used. In the theory chapter I have used, inter alia, George H.

Northern Stories. Ett narrativt videokoncept

Northern Stories is a narrative video-project, mixed between how to work with the movieformat and the programs involved. As well as the complexity of how it can be to work in collaboration with a company and an investigation in how to evolve my design process. This from a designer?s point of view and with the intention to produce a finished product..
