This report describes the development of a well?functioning and aesthetically appealing web Portal and associated database for a company called Svensk Kredit & Försäkringsförmedling AB (Translated: Swedish Credit & Insurance intermediation AB). The Portal will test customers' creditworthiness through another company called Business Check in Sweden AB.Administrators to the web Portal have a special user interface to display all customers, to disburse the money to the customer and edit customer information. A super?user interface is available for administrators where they can change the information on all administrator accounts.Many aspects of security has been addressed because the web Portal will handle personal information.

Rapporten behandlar utvecklingen av en Portal som är tänkt att användas av alla olika delar av en företagskoncern, både som intranät, extranät och extern webbplats. Denna rapport undersöker vad som är viktigt att uppfylla för att skapa en Portal av detta slag där kraven på flexibilitet är stora, samtidigt som de olika företagen i koncernen ska ha utrymme att agera både som enskilda företag och som medlemmar i en koncern. Rapporten undersöker även om tekniken SharePoint kan vara lämplig att använda i ett sådant fall samt tar upp alternativ till SharePoint. Slutsatserna är att två aspekter är särskilt viktiga i en Portal av slaget som efterfrågas. Dels att Portalen utformas med en tydlig struktur och väl definierade nivåer med klara uppgifter, dels att tekniken bakom Portalen är anpassningsbar, öppen för vidareutvecklingar och att tekniken är modulbaserad.

Denna rapport presenterar ett examensarbete på D-nivå där uppdragsgivaren har varit WM-data Consulting och kunden Vägverket Produktion.Vägverket har ett antal olika applikationer för geografisk information som ligger utspridda på företagets hemsida . För att samla alla applikationer på ett och samma ställe fick vi i uppdrag att göra en grundläggande utredning av en GIS-Portal. Denna Portal ska fungera som en enhetlig ingång där kartdata samkörs och visualiseras. Ytterligare en del i uppdraget var att utreda vad som borde förändras och förbättras i den redan existerande tjänsten Beläggning på vägarna. Denna tjänst kommer att fungera som en testapplikation för GIS-Portalen.Målen med examensarbetet var att utreda vilka krav som finns på en GIS-Portal och applikationen Beläggning på vägarna samt att beskriva de önskemål som finns på dessa.

We have used a qualitative investigation method in our study to answer our hypothesis.

Vida Skog is supplying the whole Vida Ltd?s mills with wood raw material. This study aims to evaluate Vida Skog?s contractors and the relatively new contractorPortal and to identify measures that are important for the contractors? skills. The purpose with the Portal is to facilitate co-operation between contractors and buyers by streamlining the logistics of the whole wood supply process.The study was conducted in the form of a questionnaire.Most of the respondents were positive to the Portal.

The aim of this master's thesis is to present an introduction to semiological analysis of web based material, which is a hypothesis that combines the theoretical framework of classical Saussurean semiology, visual social semiotics as was developed by Günther Kress and Theo van Leeuwen, and Roland Barthes's notion of 'Myths'. Furthermore, a new tool called 'pseudo-signifier', constructed solely for the thesis, is also used in conjunction with the semiological analysis. The hypothesis is tested in a case study involving the web Portal of a Swedish commune, Gothenburg (goteborg.se). A complete semiological analysis is performed on the case. The case study revealed numerous findings of interest, among others that images and texts on the web Portal were sometimes used in a contradicting manner, and often in a way that symbollically excluded citizens from the Portal, a fact which could be uncovered when studying underlying myths that permeated the web Portal.

Syftet är att beskriva vilka faktorer som påverkar värderingen av InternetPortaler samt att med hjälp av dessa faktorer försöka värdera en Portal. Undersökningen är dels teoretisk och behandlar avsaknaden av fungerande modeller för Portal-värdering, dels rör problemet vårt fallföretag, på vilket vi försöker applicera de tillvägagångssätt vi funnit. De faktorer som åsyftas är snarare antal besökare, Portalens intäkter och kostnader än makroekonomiska faktorer som ränteläget.

Jag har undersökt vad människor i Folkmusiksverige vill läsa om på en kommande internetPortal, folkmusikPortalen.se. Detta har jag gjort genom en enkät, som låg på Internet och var öppen i två veckor. Jag fick in 81 svar. Frågorna jag ställde handlade om respondenternas bakgrund, hur de ställer sig till reklam, vad de vill läsa/diskutera om och vilka konferenser de eventuellt har besökt och vilka ämnen som isf togs upp där.Jag har kommit fram till att intresset för en kommande Portal är stort. Jag har fått mycket förslag på vilka ämnen och funktioner som skulle kunna finnas med på Portalen.

CML Data AB is a small IT-company that offers complete IT-solutions adjusted to the needs of the customers. It is hard for the employees to bring all necessary papers, files and software when visiting a customer. They also have difficulties planning their daily work and to keep track of each other, because of the lack of a shared calendar.The purpose of this report is to answer the following questions:- How do you develop a centralized information system for CML Data AB where it is possible for the employees to gain access to files, plan their days and where the customers can get access to relevant information?- How do you develop an information system that is easy to manage?- How do you make it easier for the employees at CML Data AB to update their homepage?We discussed the problems and the future information system with the employees and were able to establish a set of needs and requirements which we then used as a foundation during the software development. We used user centered system design during the whole process and focused a lot on usability and interaction design.The project resulted in a stylistically pure and user friendly Portal.

This Master Thesis treats the non monetarian aspect about the Internet Portal from a consumer and company perspective. The purpose of this thesis i st o give or create a picture and a tool, a model for how the InternetPortal could be evaluated an valued. By creating a so called Dynamic Scorecard the authors of this Thesis have created a model throug which the purpose of this thesis is served. Through this model the authors have come to the conclusion that the Internet Portal can be evaluated through both economic, social, service and technical factors as well as through what relationship the companies or consumers value concerning the Internet provider. The product of conclusions of this Thesis is that there are three main factors upon wich the Internet Portal is valued.

Today we see a fast developing of the market for mobile communication, both in an increased and changed mobile use, but also in the development of new technologies and services. Much that can be performed on Internet/Intranet today with a PC will in some years also be possible to do with a mobile terminal. Mobile Internet will probable take place when new technologies as GPRS, EDGE and UMTS will be in use. These technologies in combination with the development of new terminals and services will bring new capabilities for both companies and private users. This report describes how a Portal should be designed in order to meet the needs on the market.

TPB, The Swedish Library of Talking Books and Braille, has requested a study to investigate the organization and content of a possible future Swedish web Portal for users with reading disabilities. The aim of this thesis is to conduct such a study, with an emphasis on knowledge organization. The main aspects studied are formal description, representation, search and retrieval, document retrieval, and additionally also aspects related to content. The following questions are answered in this thesis: - How are web Portals, online databases and Internet libraries for users with reading disabilities constructed, from an organization of knowledge point of view? - How can these solutions for knowledge organization be incorporated into a possible Swedish web Portal? - With regards to content, which additional aspects are present in the studied web Portals, online databases and Internet libraries? The questions are addressed through a detailed study of ten web Portals, online databases and Internet libraries from Nordic and Anglo-American parts of the world.

The purpose of this report has been to develop an administrative web interface. The web interface is to be used by the company Zidango and it is going to make it easier for them in their daily work of running a web Portal. The interface had to be developed so it would fit in Zidangos web Portal. This meant the work had to be done in the framwork Struts and mostly in JAVA. Thereforeis a shorter theory chapter included in the report that discusses frameworks.
