Unga mäns perspektiv på heder och hedernormer  - en kvalitativ studie

?Den stojande hopen? : Diskurser om ungdomar i två bibliotekstidskrifter 2005?2010

The aim of this thesis is to examine discourses about the user category Young people in two well-established Swedish library journals between the years 2005 and 2010.The empirical material consists of 65 texts derived from the library journals Biblioteksbladet and Bibliotek i samhälle. By using discourse theory and methodology I discover several different ways in which Young people are categorized in the library context. As a complementary theory I have analyzed the material from an intersectional perspective. The result shows that Young people most of the times are defined by adults. Several characteristics such as creativity, interest in modern technology, messiness and need for support are repeated in the descriptions of the Young, suggesting that there is clear idea of how Young people are.

Ungas avhopp från kommunfullmäktige : En studie om unga fullmäktigeledamöters beslut att lämna sina uppdrag

Young councillors are currently under-represented in Sweden's municipalities. Young councillors are also stepping down in greater numbers than older members. This paper explores the reasons why Young councillors choose to resign from their mission, so to identify possible remedies to the problematic trend of underrepresentation of Younger people in local authorities in Sweden. This qualitative essay intends, through interviewing politically-active Young people who has left their assignment, to study the reasons for resignations from elected posts. To see what could be the reason I have looked at previous studies and theories about opting out but also tried to remain open to identifying new and emerging trends previously undetected in existing surveys. The results showed that the political assignment proved to be too time-consuming, with Young people choosing to spend their time on career and leisure. Those who resign from political life often express criticism towards the Municipal Council; they consider it tedious and many complain of having little influence.

We used a qualitative method and performed interviews with nine professionals that work with Young females with self-harm behaviour. To be able to analyse our qualitative interviews we used concepts such as modernity, anomie, safety and cultural differences in the bringing up of children. The results of this study shows that self-harm behaviour is a symptom of excessive anxiety, which can be caused by a number of reasons, such as childhood trauma or great demands in modern society.
