The aim of the thesis is to study Young peoples, defined as boys and girls between 14 and 16 years old, attitudes to library in two municipalities. Notwithstanding the fact that Young people, and children, often is given priority in library work, the reality often seems to be another. Attitudes are founded primarily in childhood and therefore it is of great importance to examine how Young people regard libraries. Besides studying former research about Young people and libraries that has been performed on library and information science, we also have been using concepts and theories from social science. We give a brief outline of youth research and its development and look at official records and legislation to see if and in what context Young people are mentioned.

En studie kring migrationens betydelse för unga somaliers identitetsskapande i Bristol

The Somali community is relatively new in the UK and the majority of Somalis in Bristol are living under poor conditions in deprived areas. According to literature and research relevant for this study ethnic identity seems to be of more importance when threatened by environmental or social changes, such as experiences of migration. Young people are more exposed to such a process of identity construction. The aim for this study was to get a more profound understanding for the significance of migration for Young Somali people?s identity formation in Bristol.

This study adress how culture, in the form of basic assumptions and accepted behaviors and ways to think affected how Young coaches formed their leadership under the influence of their organization. The possible implications for the importance of knowing about ones culture in an organization affect both the recruitment process in organizations and what the organization stands for and what is conveyed through values and ways to act in the organization. The purpose of this study was, through the use of semi-structured interviews with Young coaches and organizational leaders and a review of policys, to get the perspective and experiences of Young coaches regarding cultural influence on their leadership.

The public spaces of the city from a social sustainability perspective, Jubileumsparken, a public space for the Young, aims to see how public spaces can be open and accessible to all Young people in the community. New public spaces can be created and formed by urban planning. A public space that is undergoing considerable development is Jubileumsparken, which is situated in Gothenburg. This area constitutes the case study for this thesis. Due to the commercialization in the neo-liberal society of today, there is a risk that economically weak people, such as the Young, the unemployed or students, can?t take part of all public spaces.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to investigate the library habits of Young people, age 15 to 24. Our empirical data are gathered in a survey distributed to 104 Young men and women at three different public libraries. The questions are about how Young people use the public library, what media and services they use and whether or not they are content with what the public library can offer them. In our analysis we have compared our results to previous research and used a model by Marianne Andersson and Dorte Skot-Hansen to determine how they use the library.

This study examines social workers' perceptions of their daily work with Young people who abuse alcohol and drugs. The purpose of this study was to examine how social workers' perceptions are affected by gender and main drug of choice of activities for Young people who abuse. Methodically the study was conducted with qualitative interviews with social workers active in youth substance abuse treatment. The study was carried out a review of previous research in relation to empirical data for the reason to have a discussion of possible explanations of social workers' perceptions and their daily work with Young people who abuse alcohol and drugs. The results showed that social workers' perceptions of their daily work with Young people are about attitude, reflection and development opportunities in the practical session with the youth.

Nålen i höstacken : En studie i hur Kalmar kommun kan kommunicera med unga genom sociala medier.

The municipality of Kalmar have a problem, how to reach and communicate with Young people in Kalmar. In today?s changing media environment it gets more difficult to stand out and reach audience with messages and especially with the new forms of media that has revealed. Therefore, we have been commissioned to develop recommendations on how the municipality of Kalmar can communicate with Young people in Kalmar.  The purpose with this study is to investigate which media channels Young people in Kalmar use and their attitudes towards social media in particular. We wanted to find out how the municipality should communicate to reach them and what attitude youths have against the municipality in general.

Är ungdomstjänst gynnsam?

The purpose of this paper is to examine whether the sentences handed down to Young offenders can be considered fair. We wanted to take an in-depth look at the penalties to understand how they work. To clarify our purpose, we used the following questions: How does organizing sanctions work in practice? What support services are offered to the Young? What can be done to ensure sentences are as favorable as possible for Young people? The empirical material is based on qualitative semi-structured interviews with six social workers from two different municipalities. We also made use of previous research in the field as a reference tool.

JAG - Vem är det? : En studie om bilden av identitetssökandet hos unga flickor och pojkar i 2010 års barn- och ungdomslitteratur

Last spring I did a study where I studied how Young girls where being depicted in Swedish novels of 2010. My ambition with this exam is to study how Young teenage boys are being depicted in Swedish novels of 2010 and to compare this study and the results with the results from my study last spring. Throughout history we can see that boy?s novels have had the purpose to bring up boys into being adventurous. In the novels of 2010 we can see that boys now are being depicted in another more modern and contemporary way.From my analysis we can see that all the books have many things in common.

Bibliotek och unga vuxna : En undersökning av arbetet och profilen hos två unga vuxenavdelningar

The aim of this thesis is to examine how two Young adult departments at two public libraries work and what profiles the Young adult departments have. To examine the work and profiles at the Young adult departments I have used the following questions: What are the ideas about working with Young adults? How are the two departments in this study working whit Young adults? What or which are the profiles of the Young adult departments in this study?To answer the questions above I used a qualitative method based on interviews with the librarians responsible for the Young adult departments. To complete the interviews I studied the libraries Internet sites and official documents. The examined departments are located at two city libraries and were chosen manly for their focused age group, 15-25 years and that the departments are well established.To analyse the results I used the theoretic model of Marianne Andersson and Dorte Skot-Hansen about the role of the public library.

Sjuksköterskors uppfattningar av föräldrars delaktighet i vården av unga vuxna med psykisk ohälsa.

Background: Young adults undergo a phase in life when they try to become independent individuals and are expected to take responsibility. The transition to adult life, cause hardship for all Young adults, but with concurrent mental illness this transition can be more complicated. The Young adults may need support from their parents in connection with care.Aim: The aim of this study was to describe nurses' perceptions of parental participation in the care of Young adults with mental illness.Method: To describe the perceptions of a phenomenon, qualitative interviews with a phenomenographic approach were conducted. The interview texts were analyzed into five description categories and 10 perceptions. In the study, eight nurses were interviewed.Results: The result shows that parental participation in the care is based on the Young adult's decision.
