Detta examensarbete har haft som uppgift att undersöka om framtidens utveckling av GIS-funktioner kommer att ske med XML-webbtjänster. Som ett led i denna undersökning har ett antal GIS-funktioner utvecklats som XML-webbtjänster med ESRI: s ArcGIS Server 9.0. Syftet med utvecklingen var att utvärdera ArcGIS Servers stöd för XML-webbtjänster. Med hjälp av XML-webbtjänsttekniken kan distribuerade GIS-applikationer byggas. En övergång från traditionella GIS till distribuerade GIS kan ge många fördelar.

Examensarbetet syftar till att jämföra nya alternativ till olika system för användning i laborationer i reglerteknikkurser för olika studentkategorier. Det skall utredas vilket av ett antal alternativ till mjukvaruplattformar som är bäst lämpat att användas vid reglerteknikundervisningen i ITN:s reglerlaboratorium vid Linköpings universitet. Tidigare laborationer i berörda kurser skall även modifieras så att dessa kan genomföras i de nya systemen.Examensarbetet resulterade i en rad modifierade laborationer och system att tillämpa i dessa. The purpose of the study was to identify and analyse the implications of client virtualisation in company environments. The study chose to focus on the aspects of the current hardware, license management, application management, maintenance work and the implications virtualization would have on these. The work in the study was chosen to limit itself to a Windows environment.The background to the study was due to a growing need to be more flexible and mobile in company environments and in collaboration with the University of Jönköping a problem description and the framing of questions was defined. The use and attention given to the certification system ?Miljöbyggnad? has increasedin recent years. The system is completely Swedish and was initiated in 2005 by theBygga-Bo-Dialogen. Miljöbyggnad aims to create a healthy indoor environment, reduceenergy consumption and discourage the use of hazardous chemical substances. APIet skall förenkla samt effektivisera IT Resource ABs arbete med att utveckla webbapplikationer. Den förenkling samt effektivisering som APIet erbjuder är möjligheten att återanvända funktioner samt att man enkelt kan lägga till nya funktioner i APIet vid behov.Den funktionalitet som APIet kommer att tillhandahålla är en förbättrad hantering av variabler och strängar som genereras från en webbsida skriven i PHP. Med en förbättrad hantering menas bland annat att det skall vara möjligt att lagra variabler och strängar från en webbsida skriven i PHP.Det skapade APIet består av 2 byggstenar, en klient och en server. Klienten i klient/serversystemet är en extern modul innehållande funktionalitet för kommunikation med både PHP och servern.

Vattenfall and Svenska Kraftnät perform start-up tests, where hydropower generators are used to power up the electrical grid in case of a blackout. To monitor the electrical grid, Phasor Measurement Units (PMU) are used. Each PMU is individually equipped with a GPS-receiver to precisely timestamp the data relative to the official time UTC. During the test, it is also of interest to timestamp the measurement signals from individual hydropower generators to later compare with PMU-data, and thus study the power grids impact on the generator. The aim is to work out an appropriate method to make these measurements and to build a data acquisition system, capable of timestamp data relative to UTC, from a generator in one of Vattenfalls hydroelectric power stations. The problem is that the generator is located in an underground station which hampers the reception of GPS-signals and wiring should be avoided if possible. Time synchronization has been solved by using Vattenfalls network, which is synchronized by the network protocol NTP.

This Master of Science thesis project handles issues around managing data from the digital tachographsystem. European legislation states that companies must download the data of the digital tachograph systemand store it for at least one year for control purposes. The system stores data on the vehicle unit located inthe driving compartment and on smart cards personal for each driver.Acquiring data from the previous analogue tachograph was done instantaneously since the data wasphysically printed to a circular paper chart when driving. To acquire data from the digital system one mustperform a download from the vehicle unit and later transfer it to some form of backup solution for longterm storage. Data must also be downloaded from the driver smart cards.Download of data from the vehicle unit is the most time consuming task and may take up to 30minutes pervehicle.

This report describes an examination project made for the IT consultingcompany Sogeti. The purpose of the project was to develop and modify the translation tool Language Manager (LM) built by Sogeti to be used for translating applications. Employees at Sogeti considered some disadvantages with Language Manager, version 1.0 which among others was that language files for projects were saved at two locations. Partly in resource maps among with the source code of the applications and partly in a database. This was dual work for employees at Sogeti and it also caused redundancy inthe system.

During cold winter days it is likely that people in buildings with older windows or high glass facades experience thermal discomfort due to cold air down draughts. Earlier work has been aimed at finding analytical methods to predict the speed of the airflow in a room and in practice heating appliances are often placed beneath the windows to reduce the draught along the floor. In a study from 2012 Mohammad Parchami developed a method for estimating the required heating power to counteract the downdraught with such heating appliances. In this study, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was used to evaluate the usefulness of Parchami?s method and also to examine the potential of adapting the depth of the inward window sill as a means of decreasing the down draught.
