Sustainability and the traffics impact on the environment have become increasingly central within spatial planning. For many years, planning has been focusing on building new roads - this has resulted in increased use of automobiles, which many believe is unsustainable in the longer term. Therefore, authorities at national, regional and local level want to increase the use of alternative transport modes ? such as walking, cycling and traveling by bus.The thesis intends to study if the Municipality of Umeå?s policies for sustainable development have led to an increased use of public transportation. The use of public transport in Umeå is also compared with developments at national level, in order to see if there are differences in the level and trend.

When planning new wind farms, the cost for the internal electrical grid is estimated to account for 8-9 % of the total investment cost. On top of that, the cost for accumulated reduced income over several years (due to electrical losses), has to be added. The economic lifespan is relatively long (about 20 years) which means that an error in the loss calculation could lead to a bad decision basis. The accumulated reduced incomes due to electrical losses can be higher than the initial investment cost for the internal electrical grid.Today, Statkraft Sweden is using a template number when estimating the electrical losses in a wind farm. The actual losses are probably lower than the template number which could lead to an unnecessary high loss cost when planning a new wind farm.The aim of this M.Sc.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the influence that aristocrats in Sweden had on the Swedish movement for the prevention of cruelty to animals, and why especially aristocrats started it. The sources I have been using are speeches and texts written by persons who were involved in the movement. I have also studied rapports from the three largest societies for the prevention of cruelty to animals. In the sources I looked for terms, expressions and opinions that can be paralleled whit the aristocratic ideal and opinion. Things that can relate to aristocratic urban people.

Municipalities in Sweden are responsible for physical planning by developing a general plan. This plan contains intended land and water use for the area. This study aims to investigate the level of integra­tion of environmental issues in the general plan of Arboga municipality and also how well adapted the municipality is for climate change. Further on, the study intends to examine the focus of the gen­eral plan and at what rate the national environmental strategies are implemented in the local physi­cal planning of Arboga municipality. Methods used for this study are interviews and reviewing of the general plan itself and other key documents.

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur vattennära områden det vill säga Västra Hamnen och Norra Älvstranden, som tidigare använts som hamn- och industriområden idag fungerar med sin nya användning genom att titta på vad som gör dem attraktiva och för vem. Vidare är syftet att ta reda hur tillgängliga de är för allmänheten genom dess offentliga platser. Studien har ett typo-morfoligiskt förhållningssätt vilket betyder att den sociala sammansättningen studerats i områdena samt den fysiska strukturen genom att offentliga platser undersökts samt bebyggelsestrukturen. Sjönära områden anses vara attraktiva för en mångfald av människor men studien visar att det överlag är resursstarka personer som bosätter sig i Norra Älvstranden och Västra Hamnen. Att områdena är attraktiva samt att det överlag är en viss grupp människor som bosätter sig i områdena exemplifierar en problematik kring hur tillgången till områdenas offentliga platser fungerar. Studier kring de offentliga rummen har uppmärksammat att stråken i dessa områden är betydelsefulla för att en mångfald av människor och inte bara de som bor där ska kunna orientera sig till de attraktiva vattennära områdena och känna sig välkomna till exempelvis de offentliga kajstråken.

The Swedish agriculture has gone through some changes and there are more changes coming in the near future. The structure is mowing towards bigger units. The average age for the Swedish farmer is high, and a great number of agricultural enterprises are going to get an owner from the next generation within the family. The aim of this thesis is through case studies examine the economic consequences of transfer of agricultural holdings. The methods in change of generation that this essay treats are changes of generation, in the form of gift and purchases.

This thesis will take various factors under study such as globalisation, development of the offshore industry and the fight against harmful taxation by the OECD and other organisations in order to describe the effects of Internet.

Since the late 50th century, the automobile has been normative in the Swedish society (Lundin 2008). This has led to an urban environment deeply characterized by the motor vehicle and its necessities, while other means of transportation, such as train and bicycle, have been ignored and put aside. However, over the past decades, a new trend has been seen in Urban Planning as a consequence of the increasing knowledge of the negative qualities caused by the car. As a result, the bicycle is seen as a conceivable transport mode.This thesis examines cycling on four issues:- Why is there a need of more cyclists? - How can the total number of cyclists as well as the number of satisfied cyclists increase? - Which factors affect the choice of transport mode? - Which factors affect the choice of route?The first two questions are discussed from a literature study that was conducted at the beginning of the thesis.

NCC har i samarbete med IVL Svenska Miljöinstitutet och Solna Stad startat ett projekt där alternativ energiproduktion i urban miljö ligger i fokus. Ett vindkraftverk med en maxeffekt på 2,5 kW installerades på NCC:s huvudkontor i Solna i mitten på februari 2011. IVL:s roll i projektet är att arbeta fram en meteorologisk modell där vindförhållandena, med hänsyn till närliggande hinder och olika höjder, presenteras. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att utföra en teknisk utvärdering av vindkraftverket. Håller leverantören sina löften gällande produktion? Är urban vindkraft lönsam eller vilka förutsättningar krävs för att den ska bli det? Behöver vindmätningar utföras eller kan IVL:s modell alternativt data från den närliggande mätstationen på Bromma flygplats användas? Vad arbetar konkurrenterna med inom energi och miljö? Dessa frågor ligger som grund till arbetet.NCC installerade 2009 en väderstation på taket till huvudkontoret och det är dessa mätningar som beräkningarna baseras på.

Historiska stadsbyggnadsstrategier med fokus på hållbarhet eller grönska utgör utgångspunkten för framtagandet av en ny stadsbyggnadsstrategi som ska vara hållbar ur alla aspekter; både ur ett socialt, ekologiskt och ekonomiskt perspektiv. I kandidatuppsatsen undersöks möjligheterna att fortsätta förtäta staden och samtidigt behålla stadens parker och grönska. Stadsbyggnadsstrategin är döpt till Stad-i-park och är en utopisk vision som syftar till att förändra vårt sätt att leva och vilken funktion en stad ska fylla för att nå en hållbar utveckling. Detta uppnås i teorin genom att ersätta transporterna inom staden med framförallt spårbunden trafik, öka mötesplatserna i staden genom att föra in mer grönska och torg samt att förtäta staden då byggnader som tillhör dagens trafiksystem inte längre behövs. Förändringar i infrastrukturen ska inte påverka rörligheten utan staden ska även i fortsättningen vara tillgänglighetsanpassad vilket bl.a.

Denna kandidatuppsats behandlar sambandet mellan hållbar utveckling, spårväg och städers varumärke. Med utgångspunkt i europeisk planering har en fallstudie av städerna Montpellier och Malmö gjorts för att undersöka dagens ideal och de drivkrafter som ligger bakom byggandet av spårväg. I uppsatsen ges en kort översikts om trafikplaneringens historia för att få en förståelse varför läget ser ut som det gör idag. En genomgång och förklaring av begreppet hållbarhet görs också samt en undersökning kring marknadsföring av städer och begreppet ?place branding?. En analys av styrande dokument och information från kommunerna har gjorts för att ta reda hur de motiverar valet av spårvagnstrafik med fokus på hållbarhetsaspekterna. Slutligen har resultatet av analysen jämförts för att se vilka slutsatser som gick att dra utifrån det insamlade materialet. Några av slutsatserna är att spårvagnsbyggande kan användas som en del i arbetet för att marknadsföra en mer hållbar stad samt att det finns politiska drivkrafter bakom valet av spårvagn som kollektivtrafikmedel..

The thesis aims to be an informative study for landscape architects and hopes to contributeto an understanding of ways water can be used and managed at sites lacking open, greensurfaces.The title "intelligent water design" should evoke the reader?s thoughts concerning intelligentaspects of water. Text, images and the design proposition give hints about these aspects.In the first part of this thesis, various examples of water design are presented. The chosenexamples are all applicable in urban environments with a high percentage of impervioussurfaces.The second part examines Gjutarplan, an urban square in the centre of Kallhäll, in Järfälla,north of Stockholm. Gjutarplan is first framed in a geographical and historical context.

AbstractWe all have experience of dwelling, which means that everyone can have an opinion about the architecture of the dwelling. Today the building companies do not have time enough to investigate which architecture qualities their clientele ask for in their apartments. JM AB use to call their apartments ?generous city apartments?. But do these apartments fulfill the needs of their dwellers? And what would the apartments look like if they were designed according to the wishes of the dwellers? When JM AB get knowledge about the dwellers needs and wishes they can make even better apartments for their future customers.The purpose and the objective with this report are to draw up proposals for tenant owner flat.

Ämnet för den här uppstatsen är att undersöka vilka föreställningar det finns om tillgänglighet och hur samhälleliga strukturer påverkar arbetet med att öka tillgängligheten i samhället och vilka konsekvenser det har för berörda. Följande frågor har ställts för att kunna utreda detta. o Vilken roll har de statliga intentionerna i arbetet för att öka tillgängligheten i samhället och vilken roll har andra aktörer i samhället för hur dessa implementeras? o Vilka faktorer påverkar den fysiska planeringens förmåga att hantera tillgänglighet i den fysiska miljön? Uppsatsen utgår från de tre teoretiska perspektiven normalitet, makt och demokrati i relation till fysisk planering och tillgänglighet. Den egna undersökningen baserar sig på empiriskt material i form av kvalitativ textanalys och kvalitativa intervjuer. Den kvalitativa innehållsanalysen är utförd på tre politiska dokument, varav två av dem utgår från funktionshinderspolitiken, medan det tredje är förarbetet till Plan- och bygglagen (2010:900) och har därför en tydligare anknytning till fysisk planering.
