The construction industry in Sweden has in the past 50 years had a low progress in efficiency. With a greater competition from construction firms from other countries, it is necessary to maintain the profit for Swedish construction firms. This is possible with a higher feedback of experience. This diploma work thesis examines how the two construction companies NCC and Skanska in Uppsala, Sweden handle experience feedback from previous projects and the extent to which the experience is spread and used in future projects. In this work, we examined directorial documents to see how employees shall work with feedback.

ABSTRACT Background: The ward round is a collaboration between nurse, doctor and patient. A good collaboration and communication is essential to their interrelation. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate patients' comprehension in regard to integrity, information and participation during round. We also looked at differences about comprehension between men and women.  Methods: A questionnaire was answered by 34 patients in three wards at the University hospital in Uppsala. Results: The patients believed they could talk openly ?quite well? but they experienced it ?sometimes? disturbing to talk openly if other patients were in the room.

The aim of this research is to find out what environmental impact a wave power park has on the Swedish west coast by creating a consultation paper (?SamrÄdsunderlag?) for the Lysekilproject at Uppsala University. To highlight the complexity of the problem a system analytic approach was used and illustrated by a Causal Loop Diagram.The overall assessment of the Lysekilprojects wave power park at the Swedish west coast is that it will have a low impact on the environment. This is due to the relative small size of the wave power park and some technical solutions made with the environmental aspect in mind. Artificial reefs and a sanctuary for marine species are effects created by the wave power park and in the longer term the impact will give access to an untapped source of renewable energy, wave energy.

Uppsala University Library owns eight volumes of manuscripts attributed to the academy equerry Johan Leven Ekelund (c.1701?1775). In this thesis, I apply methods from the field of material culture studies in order to establish which of the volumes that formed the donation from Leven to the library mentioned in his will. By mapping certain markers such as places, names and dates I am able to identify to some extent where Leven gained his practical skills and which writers influenced him. By analysing the texts, I draw the conclusion that the manuscripts can be divided into groups aimed for different audiences.

This report is the result of a thesis work done at the Department of Engineering Sciences, Uppsala University, and includes 15 ECTS points. The work has been performed at Företag A, a company specializing in electronics whose major product has become a sophisticated tool used by authorities across northern Europe. Företag A has initiated a quality management system according to the criteria set by ISO 9001. Following demands from customers, Company A has now decided to also start working towards a certification according to SS-EN ISO 9001:2008, this work is the foundation for the thesis work. The thesis work has been limited to the production process and the aim has been to enable this process to be certified according to ISO 9001:2008. The work has been performed by analyzing the existing quality management system and the requirements for each process included, whereby the gap between the current and the target state has been mapped. Suggestions have then been made on how this gap can be filled, some of these suggestions have also been carried out during the thesis work. The conclusions drawn are that quality management does not have to be complicated, but quickly becomes so when the complexity of the processes increases.

This thesis at the Institute for Language and Folklore has as its purpose to lay a foundation for a continuinginventory work. The tasks I have performed during my time there was to create an archival description, anintroduction to the material and a process map showing the process of incoming delivery of documents. The aimwas never to finish the list of work, but to structure the material to get an insight into the material and to theproblems that existed within. The documents are of a very unique nature and require that the archivist is familiarwith and have knowledge of sign language. One of the problems I encountered was how fragmented the materialwas.

Under de senaste Ären har det blivit allt vanligare med fusioner mellan lÀrosÀten.Författarnas syfte med denna uppsats Àr att undersöka vilka personalrelaterade problem som kan uppstÄ nÀr tvÄ lÀrosÀten med olika förutsÀttningar gÄr samman genom en fusion. Detta har gjorts med hjÀlp av av en fallstudie.Resultatet av undersökningen visar att kontinuerlig information frÄn ledning till personal Àr av yttersta vikt för att i största möjliga mÄn undvika och dÀmpa personalrelaterade problem.

The aim of this paper is in part to distinguish the ideas raised in the Swedish political debate on the new discrimination law in relation to protection of groups. Is protection by law against discrimination needed for the individual or the group? If it is needed for members of groups, are these groups viewed on as static or variable. Are there any conflicts present between group interests? We link these ideas to three different theoretical perspectives: multiculturalism, feminism and intersectionality and further examine the differences and contradictions between the perspectives represented by members of parliament.

The wastewater treatment plant at GE Healthcare's facility in Uppsala deployed a three step vacuum evaporator in 2007. The purpose of this was to pre-treat wastewater containing amines. The purpose of this thesis was to optimize thisprocess by reducing the amount of concentrate without releasing more nitrogen tothe environment and to examine if density could be used as a measurement of whenthe process should be ended.To create a foundation for optimization six test cycles were conducted with samples taken from all three steps. Both concentrate and condensate were tested as well as the incoming solution. Furthermore, the thesis has been expanded with a benchmarking part examining two different evaporators.

In the middle of the 19th century came an opposite reaction against the hospitals? treatment of their patients and a more human way was requested. A link between crowded housing, bad hygien and other bad conditions had been noticed and nature was considered to be healthy. Hospitals and sanatiories moved closer to nature due to influences from England, USA and Germany, and cities began building public parks. Employment was seen as calming and healthy for the patients.

Fler och fler företag börjar utnyttja Internet för att sprida marknadsföringsmeddelanden till poteniella kunder. Viralmarknadsföring bygger pĂ„ att ett intressant meddelande skapas, ofta i form av videoklipp, som sedan skickas ut till nĂ„gra fĂ„ personer som sedan sprider det vidare. Vi har undersökt hur vanlig denna vidarebefordring Ă€r och hur kĂ€nslorsponsen frĂ„n dessa meddelanden samvarierar med intentionen att sprida vidare. Även tendensskillnader mellan könen undersöktes. I vĂ„r studie anvĂ€nde vi oss av fem verkliga kampanjer, bestĂ„nde av filmlkipp, som haft stor framgĂ„ng pĂ„ Internet.

Denna uppsats syftar till att kvantitativt studera och underso?ka selektiv migration i Uppsalas genom att observera ro?rlighet och befolkningsfo?ra?ndringar under tidsperioden 1990-2010 fo?r bostadsomra?den byggda under miljonprograma?ren 1965-1974. Fo?r att uppna? underso?kningen syfte har longitudinella demografiska och socioekonomiska data, ha?mtade fra?n databasen GeoSweden, fo?r inflyttare, utflyttare och stannare i Uppsalas miljonprogram analyserats. Analys av sagda data visar att andelen Sverigefo?dda individer i Uppsalas miljonprogram minskade under perioden 1990-2010 i takt med att andelen utlandsfo?dda inflyttare o?kade.

Denna studie fokuserar pÄ flickors och pojkars syn pÄ yrken ur ett kulturgeografiskt perspektiv. En enkÀtundersökning genomfördes pÄ barn i Ärskurs 5 dÀr de ombads att skriva vad de skulle vilja arbeta med nÀr de blir stora samt att motivera sina yrkesval. De fick Àven ta stÀllning till tÀnkbara framtida arbeten utifrÄn en given  yrkeslista. Undersökningen utfördes i Gimo, en mindre bruksort och Uppsala, en universitetsstad. De populÀraste yrkena bland barnen kan sorteras in i nÄgra större kategorier: djurrelaterade, artistrelaterade, idrottsproffs och kock/bagare.

I denna studie har insamling av referensdata över sprĂ„kförstĂ„else hos treĂ„ringar med typisk sprĂ„kutveckling genomförts. Till detta har bedömningsmaterialet SofialĂ„dan (Westerlund & Öfverholm-Engström, 1995) anvĂ€nts. SofialĂ„dan bygger som flera andra sprĂ„kförstĂ„elsematerial pĂ„ den s.k. act-outmetoden dĂ€r man lĂ„ter barnet agera med föremĂ„l efter en given instruktion. Med hjĂ€lp av föremĂ„len i SofialĂ„dan bedöms barnets förmĂ„ga att identifiera grundfĂ€rger och storleksbegrepp, kategorisera, flytta föremĂ„lenligt olika prepositionsanvisningar samt att följa flerledade instruktioner.

Dagens arbetskraft prÀglas allt mer av en ökad mÄngfald, vilket stÀller krav pÄ företags hantering av heterogena grupper. Tidigare forskning tyder pÄ att instÀllningen till mÄngfald fÄr en större betydelse för att attrahera talanger. Syftet blir sÄledes att undersöka hur de mest attraktiva arbetsplatserna för ekonomistudenter förmedlar sitt arbete med mÄngfald, samt hur ekonomistudenter upplever och vÀrderar arbetsgivarnas arbete med mÄngfald. En kvalitativ granskning av Ärsredovisningar och hemsidor har genomförts. Delar av datan kvantifierades enligt ett förutbestÀmt index.
