The purpose of this graduate thesis is to illustrate what could be theeffects of urban renewal carried out in a too hasty manner, the pointbeing that there could be features which have (yet) not been identifiedand therefore are lost if the planning of the city is not given theadequate amount of time and resources.Through a case study located at the wharf of Gullberg (Gullbergskaj)the significance of urban fringes and areas without too strict of aplanning are highlighted. Some guidelines to successful and consideratecity development are somewhat suggested.The survey is mainly based on two types of sources: contemporaryphotography and interviews with a number of people who are allresidents or tenants at the Gullbergskaj. Their testimonies regardingGullbergskaj and their use of this particular environment are used to drawconclusions of the qualities, which are not the typical cultural-historicalqualities but rather a quality defined by the user (of the quay), held by thissection of the Göta älv shoreline.This thesis is also concerned with the potential impact on the qualities ofGullbergskaj, was it to be the object of city renewal.The results of the study are compared to debating articles published in thenewspaper Göteborgs-Posten for a wider understanding of Gothenburg as atrademark, and the public opinion regarding the city planning related toCentrala älvstaden..

This essay deals with the relationship between the mendicant movement and the urbanization during the thirteenth century. The aim has been to explore the significance of the Dominicansand the Franciscans for the creation of an urban landscape. This was made through the study of the urbanization process in southern Halland focusing on the town of Halmstad where the friars were established. The importance of the mendicants was also studied through their absence in the towns of Laholm and Falkenberg. To achieve this investigation in a contextual perspective material from different areas was used such as archaeology, history and history of science and ideas.

A large part of Sweden?s green, urban landscape is covered by lawns. Approximately 80 000 ha of maintained grass lawns are part of public courtyards, schoolyards, parks, golf courses, sport fields and traffic environments. Beyond this figure, the lawn is also an essential element in most private villa-gardens. Lawns have become a universal phenomenon through the dispersion of landscape aesthetics from the Western world.

Efter bilens ökande dominans i gaturummet går trenden idag åt att ge andra trafikslag mer plats, där ibland gångtrafikanter. Olika strategier finns för att skapa gaturum på de gåendes villkor, ett växande koncept i Europa är shared space.Detta arbete sker i syfte att analysera planering för gångtrafikanter i gaturummet. Två fallstudier har genomförts, en på Skvallertorget i Norrköping och en på Götgatsbacken i Stockholm. Arbetet undersöker hur planeringen skett i de två fallen, om åtgärderna höjt attraktiviteten och säkerheten på platserna och även hur gångtrafikanterna där upplever det.För de båda fallstudierna har planerare intervjuats och kortfrågeintervjuer har skett med gångtrafikanter på respektive plats. Dessutom har egna observationer gjorts.Skvallertorget, en torgliknande korsning i Norrköping, är ett av Sveriges mest kända exempel på shared space.Götgatsbacken, en populär gågata i Stockholm har flera funktioner både som shoppingstråk och cykelstråk för cykelpendlare.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka i vilken utsträckning och hur egna varumärken favoriseras av de svenska dataljisterna i dagligvaruhandeln, genom ett fördelaktigt hyllplaceringsbeslut. Vi har använt oss av ett kvalitativt tillvägagångssätt med en beskrivande karaktär. Vidare har vi gjort 20 stycken personliga intervjuer med butikschefer på Coop Konsum, ICA Supermarket och Hemköp. Vi har även utfört kompletterande butiksmätningar för att verifiera eller falisifiera informationen. Resultatet som vi kommer fram till ska ses som en utvidgning av befintlig space managementforskning..

Computer Forensics is regulary conducted by Police, Customs, Tax investigators but also within private companies and organisations. However, there are areas within the storage device that are not part of the organisied structure that a file system gives. The reason for that might be that the information has been erased by intention, a virus destroyed the file system and so on.

I linje med tidigare forskning bör adoptivföräldrar bli mer öppna för att adoptera ett barn med funktionsnedsättning eftersom det är färre och färre friska barn som blir aktuella för adoption (Glidden, 2000, s.397; SOU 2003:49, s.144-145). Studiens syfte var att öka kunskapen om hur nöjda adoptivföräldrar är med samhällets stöd före, under och efter genomförd adoption av ett barn med funktionsnedsättning. Studiens frågeställning var om adoptivföräldrar till barn med funktionsnedsättning anser att de har fått tillräckligt med stöd från samhället före, under och efter genomförd adoption. För att besvara frågeställningen användes en kvantitativ metod, vilket bestod av en enkätundersökning som var riktad till 31 adoptivföräldrar. Efter inkomna svar gjordes analys av empirin och en resultatredovisning där vi använde teorierna om anknytning och empowerment.

Private labels have been increasing a lot during the last 30 years. The reason is great margins and it also works as an aid to build a store's brand. The problem is that private labels take market shares from national brands. Retailers need to have a good mix between these products and adopting category management without being influenced by opportunism, which can lower the profitability of a category. The purpose of this study is to examine and describe how private labels are prioritized in the category edible fat.

This makes the organization of public space an important part in deciding what actions are made possible for the people in it. This paper considers women?s public urination and the possibilities to merge the need to urinate and the construction of the female body as feminine.A number of texts that describe the construction of the female body and identity as both gendered and socially produced are analysed in relation to women?s experiences of incontinence. Incontinence as a medical diagnosis is by this becoming possible to question, and may be seen as one of several strategies used to manage both the organization of the public space and the expectations of the female body to be a docile body.The conclusion is that a woman who wants to enter public space has the following options when it comes to the need to urinate:To strive for the feminine ideal.

En av huvudmålen med arbetet var att få ökad förståelse för hur medborgarnas makt och inflytande utvecklats historiskt inom stadsplanering. Jag var även intresserad av arkitektens roll i denna process. Jag ville som arkitekt, med stadsplanering som huvudfokus, hitta intressanta vägar att arbeta med medborgare och medborgargrupper och att förstå hur ett reellt lokalt inflytande kan ta form. Därför har jag försökt titta på relationer mellan medborgare, arkitekter, planerare, organisationer och kommun/stat. Jag drevs av en övertygelse att jag lättare kommer att finna argument för mina ?sociala ambitioner? som arkitekt om jag förstår de historiska processerna bakom medborgardeltagandet i både Sverige och ur ett internationellt perspektiv.

Platser med höga globala respektive lokala integrationsvärden har, enligt Space syntax-teorin, visats bli välbesökta. Handelshamnen i Karlskrona är en plats som innehar dessa egenskaper. Ett nytt promenadstråk längs med kajen har därför potential att bli välbesökt samtidigt som det finns potential att skapa ett attraktivt bostadsområde på platsen. This paper is a quantitative case study named Outdoor recreation of urban areas viewed through a gender perspective. The intention of this paper is, by studying gender pattern in outdoor recreation practices in Gothenburg, to describe gender patterns in outdoor recreation of Swedish urban areas. This subject is important to study because of the practices of outdoor recreation forward public health. Today many people suffer from diseases caused by stress and too little exercise, which could be prevented if they practiced outdoor recreation. Not everyone has the same possibility to practice outdoor recreation because of the inequalities between women and men.

Societal changes call for constant reinvention of libraries and as part of this reinvention, new light is being shed on the public library?s role as a meeting place.
