The task in this master thesis was to design and construct a prototype of a satellite antenna driver unit. The unit is to be robust and work in cold weather down to -40°C, so that it can be mounted on the roof of a minibus. A microcontroller controls the H-bridges simultaneous, each connected to an electrical motor. Hardware and software protections were implemented to ensure that the antenna can not turn outside its allowed area and risk breaking. The unit can output voltages at many different levels and communicate at a multitude of signal standards..

The background to this paper is the events that have taken place in the Swedish area of responsibility in Afghanistan where Swedish troops have been ambushed by the insurgents. Although the troops primarily where riding in Toyota Land Cruisers they had no casualties. I think that the Swedish force needs other vehicles that can be armed and are armoured.When I compared three different types of armoured vehicles, I found that PTGB 6 is the vehicle of choice, according to the special needs that a Swedish EOD-squad, their task and their equipment have. .

Det här är en kvalitativ fallstudie av hur en lärare undervisar om derivata i en klass på det naturvetenskapliga programmet och en på teknikprogrammet. Studiens syfte är att undersöka vilka mål, rutiner och vilken matematisk kunskap för undervisning som används. Uppsatsens teoretiska ramverk består av Schoenfeld´s teori om målorienterade handlingar och teorier om matematisk kunskap för undervisning. En lärare observerades under fem lektioner och blev intervjuad tre gånger. Resultatet visar att läraren har flera olika specialiserade matematiska innehållskunskaper när han undervisar.

I den här rapporten beskrivs hur en vanlig mobiltelefon kan användas för att visualisera elledningar som ligger nedgrävda i marken. Tanken är att människor som t ex jobbar med olika typer av markarbete ska kunna skanna marken med sin telefon och därigenom se om det ligger några kablar där under. Att av misstag gräva av en högspänningsledning kan resultera i stora materiella skador, personskador och t.o.m dödsfall.Kablarnas geografiska position ligger lagrad i en GIS-databas och med hjälp av telefonens GPS så kan användarens position fastställas. För att kablarna ska kunna visualiseras korrekt i telefonen så måste även telefonens orientering och lutning fastställas. Dessa värden hämtas från telefonens kompass och gyroskop.

Kursplanen för ämnet Idrott och hälsa är luddig och ger lärarna mycket tolkningsutrymme, något som resulterar i att undervisningen blir olika från skola till skola. Detta kan i vissa fall resultera i att eleverna lämnar grundskolan med skillnader i både kunskap och färdighet. Det mest omdiskuterade området under mina intervjuer har varit orienteringsmomentet, både dess vara eller icke vara samt hur det är formulerat i kursplanen.Idrottsämnets hälsodel är olika för olika lärare, några anser att aktivitet och hälsa går hand i hand medan andra anser att hälsodelen är ett litet moment där eleverna arbetar självständigt och skriver ett arbete om något hälsorelaterat.Betygssättning och bedömning skiljer sig från lärare till lärare, allt för att kursplanen inte klargör hur något av det bör göras. Får man t.ex. ha en orienteringstävling där man måste ta ett visst antal kontroller för att bli godkänd, eller hur ska man annars se om en elev uppnår målet för orientering?.

The last couple of years the use of mobile devices such as mobile phones and PDAs has increased tremendously. Most of the these devices have their own protocols for synchronising data and this has given rise to a need for a standard synchronisation protocol, SyncML. This thesis compares this protocol against the existing ones. The comparison shows that the preferred choice is SyncML. Also an application using SyncML has been developed.

Att miljön påverkar människans fysiska och psykiska välbefinnande har länge varit känt men har inte prioriterats av hälso- och sjukvården. Miljön inkluderar både fysiska och psykosociala faktorer. Demens är en grupp av sjukdomar som ofta drabbar äldre människor och hur miljön utformas kan påverka både symtombild och välbefinnande hos dem. Syftet med denna studie var att identifiera och beskriva faktorer i den fysiska vårdmiljön som påverkar välbefinnandet hos personer med demens. Studien genomfördes som en systematisk litteraturöversikt.

This report is the result of a master thesis carried out by the author, student at the Royal Instituteof Technology(KTH). The task was performed as a product development process at a companycalled Ameibo AB, located in Stockholm. It is the final task of the studies at the Master'sprogramme Design and Product Realization. The report is structured in a chronological order anddescribes the methods used, the implementation of these methods and a presentation of theresults given from these studies.Ameibo is a company located in Stockholm, distributing films on the internet. The aim of thismaster thesis was to investigate the possibilities of entering the market for portable devices.

The task of constructing a transmission has been provided to us by Digital Engineering, which is a company located in Hovmantorp. After meeting with Digital Engineering we started immediately with the brainstorming to find different ideas with pen and paper. After having presented a number of concepts for the company, we had finally chosen a winner. For the gearbox to be able to work in a good way the tension must never exceed the strain limit of the material. A prototype of the gearbox was produced by TKB Modell.

The aim of this essay was to describe how school social workers can help and support students with parents who abuse alcohol or other drugs. We wanted to see how school social workers room for action is presented and how it affects their work with students living with parents who are abusing. We used a qualitative method to elucidate how school social workers handle this issue in a more profound way. By conducting semistructured interviews with six school social workers in one province in southern Sweden we gained exhaustive and detailed answers. In the analysis we used street level bureaucracy and theory of recognition.

The distribution of work related tasks depending on gender leads to different appraisal depending on which gender is performing a task. This aim of this research is to study how gender differences influence task allocation within the restaurant industry. The study is inspired by a discourse analysis perspective complemented by constructivist and critical pragmatic theory. Interviews were conducted in two focus groups with seven participants in total. The analysis is divided into four sections which answer six discourse analytical questions using the interview material.

We performed our thesis at SCA Hygiene Products in Falkenberg. Our task has been to present a suggestion for a solution of the packing of giveaways that the company uses.In the current situation the work is performed manually, and the company wants to automate the process. In the following report, we present the different solutions that we have developed in our definite model. It includes a picking solution, a shaking table and trays. The product choices we have made are based on existing solutions.To help, we have used Fredy Olsson's books in principle and primary structure.

Facilitated by the breakthrough of the internet, new ways of organizing internet-based projects that harness the power of the crowds are becoming increasingly common. Today there are ways of using the crowd as paid labour, as funders of your new project ventures and even for helping scientists doing science. Staying true to its traditional principles of objectivity and trustworthiness while asking the crowd to contribute, crowd generated ?Citizen Science? does not provide even the slightest amount of pay in exchange for the time and effort put in by their contributors. Surely there can not be many people willing to do such a thing voluntarily? Actually, practice is showing the exact opposite with contributions counted in their millions among the more popular Citizen Science projects.

Background: Previous studies have shown that intuition occurs in decision making in small enterprises. However, these studies have not illuminated which decision attributes leads to intuitive decision making.Purpose:The purpose with this study is to contribute with an increased understanding of which decision attributes leads managers in small enterprises to use intuition in decision making and why these decisions attributes have an impact on the role of intuition. The follow-ing research question will be answered in our study: Which decision attributes leads to intui-tive decision making in small enterprises, and why?Method: To answer the research question we have conducted semi structural interviews with managers in small enterprises to achieve a deeper understanding of the role of intuition. We have also used a method called Visual Card Sorting as a complement to the semi structural interviews.Result/conclusion: The result of our study indicates that the relevance and the uncertainty of a decision have the greatest significance in the use of intuition in decision making in small enterprises.

Examensuppsatsen syftar till att undersöka eventuella samband mellan homosexuella mäns psykiska välbefinnande och självobjektifiering, konformitet med stereotypa maskulinitetsnormer, trivsel i den sexuella minoritetskulturen samt ålder. Syftet är ytterligare att undersöka eventuella skillnader i konformitet med maskulinitetsnormer och självobjektifiering mellan män som trivs i gaykulturen och män som inte trivs. En Internetbaserad enkät besvarades av 1113 män i åldern 15-40 år som i huvudsak identifierade sin sexuella orientering som homosexuell. Deltagarnas välbefinnande var lägre jämfört med män i en oselekterad svensk population. De män som inte trivdes i gaykulturen skattade en lägre konformitet med maskulinitetsnormer kring sex och en högre konformitet med maskulinitetsnormen heterosexuell självrepresentation jämfört med de män som trivdes.
