The main purpose of this essay is on one hand to try to find and explain the formula of success of the rock group Status Quo, and on the other to elucidate and explain the foundation and essence in the music made by Status Quo, but also to study how, if and why the foundation and essence have changed over the years. The method of investigation is partly based on a musical analysis of three albums from three different periods: Hello! (1973), Ain´t Complaining (1988) and Heavy Traffic (2002), and partly on a sociological study of the group?s career between 1962 and today, 2005.The first part of the essay concerns the period between 1962-1973 with an analysis of the album Hello!; the second part concerns the period 1974-1988 and the album Ain´t Complaining; finally, the third part concerns the years between 1989-2002 with an intensified analysis of the album Heavy Traffic. In the forth part of the essay I discuss the career of Status Quo from a sociological point of view.I run to the conclusion that the essence of Status Quo is the boogie-woogie comp on Fender guitar by Rick Parfitt, the riff on Francis Rossis´ Fender guitar in combination with the base, the piano and the drums. This has been the essence through all the years, even though it was more difficult to apprehend it during the 1980s.

This thesis work has been carried out at the consultant company Pöyry Sweden AB in Norrköping, whom performs the task for E.ON heating Sweden AB, Händelöverket in Norrköping. The report shows methods to manufacture slurry consisting of fly ash and water. The slurry shall be pumped into several former oil storage rock shelters that E.ON has put into operation for the specific purpose. The ash mixture also develops hydrogen gas in contact with water.The work has aimed to produce different suggestions of methods and equipment that can be used for the objective. Mixing method and security issues were in centre while working with the suggestions.

Den är en arena där artister kan spela inför stora pu-blikmassor och, i många fall, mot stora ersättningar. Festivalen är även en marknad för leverantö-rer där de kan marknadsföra och sälja sina produkter och tjänster. Festivalen är inte bara en del av musikindustrin, där arrangörer av livespelningar har ansetts fått en allt viktigare roll under se-nare år, utan är också att betrakta som en typ av projekt där interorganisatoriska samarbeten är nödvändiga för projektets förverkligande. Ett empiriskt tomrum identifieras för den typ av studie som valt att genomföras utifrån frågeställningen:? Hur utformar och använder festivalarrangören sin ekonomistyrning?Syfte: Syftet med studien är att kartlägga en viktig aktör inom musikindustrin, och hur denne utformar och använder ekonomistyrningen internt i projektet samt externt gentemot de många aktörer som är nödvändiga för projektet genomförande.

Bronze Age cairns have been interpreted as everything from navigation marks to marking liminal places in the landscape. It has also been stated that the main purpose of their location is to be visible. This is something that has been taken for granted. The main problem is the cairns have been considered as a homogenous monument. With the help of digital methods like GIS it is possible to test this kind of questions in quantitative way.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate and clarify the facts surrounding one of Vattenfall's district heating plants; The "solar field" and associated rock cavern in Lyckebo, Storvreta. The plant was built in the '80s by the formerly municipal utility,Uppsalakraftvärme AB, as an experimental building. A ground water filled cavern would serve as seasonal storage of solar heat from an adjacent solar field. Since both the energy company and the facility itself has undergone major changes over the past 30 years, there was a great need to gather facts in order to provide a picture of its current condition and potential for continued use. The thesis investigates the plant's history and problems with the rock cavern losses, and how the operation developed. It also presents the calculations regarding the possibilities of again supplementing the facility with solar energy - which is not the case today - as well as the economic conditions for it. Regarding a re-launch of solar energy, primarily a concentrating solar collector has been studied, as it has the advantages of an integrated control system.

Med hjälp av Michel Foucaults teorier om makt analyserades intervjusvaren för att upptäcka vilka föreställningar om makt som reportrarnas journalistiska metoder inkluderade..

The Master Thesis work this report is based upon has been conducted in cooperation with Svea Teknik AB. Svea Teknik is a consultant firm which is developing parts of a tunnel boring machine on behalf of Atlas Copco. The machine is being developed to mechanically excavate hard rock by fixating itself in the tunnel and then press a large rotating cutter-wheel equipped with disc-cutters against the tunnel wall. The disc-cutters are the tools that are in direct contact with the hard rock and are therefore exposed to extensive wear and needs to be replaced on a regular basis.The purpose of this Master Thesis has been to develop a service equipment that will enable time effective and safe changes of disc-cutters. The disc-cutters have a diameter of 17 inches and weigh about 130 kg.

A detailed dam safety evaluation (in Sweden called FDU) was performed in 2009 by WSP where stability control was performed for Långströmmen power plant with associated spillways. This evaluation concluded that stability could not be ensured, and risk of sliding occurred. The evaluation is based entirely on the recommendations outlined in RIDAS, the power companies guidelines for dam safety, and it is clear that extensive renovations are necessary to stabilize the dam.In this work, the stability will also be checked with guidance through new proposals on guidelines for concrete dams sliding stability, ELFORSK?s report 08:59. This report considered the guidelines in RIDAS as oversimplified, both from an international perspective, but also with regard to the current state of knowledge regarding dam safety.

Syftet med vårt arbete är att få insyn i fem unga kvinnors upplevelser av att vara instrumentalist i ensemblespel vid ett musikestetiskt program. Vi har valt att intervjua fem unga kvinnor vid ett gymnasium i norrland. Intervjuerna spelades in och skrevs ner ordagrant. Svaren från intervjuerna sammanställdes och bearbetades i förhållande till fyra rubriker som täcker vårt syfte. Resultatet har vi sedan jämfört med tidigare forskning inom området.

I denna studie undersöks Uppsala universitets kommunikationsstrategier från mitten av 2000-talet till och med 2010. Kommunikationsstrategierna undersöks utifrån ett nyinstitutionellt perspektiv, för att studera hur institutionellt tryck som marknadisering kommit att påverka dessa. Marknadiseringsprocessen undersöks i sin tur utifrån den institutionella omgivningen i form av politiska initiativ, för att studera den institutionaliserade processen. Utifrån nyinstitutionell teori om organisationers tendenser till formaliserade strukturer, jämförs vad som kommit till uttryck i kommunikationsstrategiska dokument med hur det externa kommunikationsarbetet i praktiken har utvecklats under denna tidsperiod..

Det är inte ovanligt att viss rock- och annan populärmusik tillskrivs konstnärliga ambitioner, eller förses med epitet som "konstnärlig" och "konstmusikalisk". Sällan utvecklas emellertid på vilket sätt detta konstnärliga tar sig uttryck. Uppsatsens syfte är att musikanalytiskt undersöka vad som kan motivera formuleringarna och om de kan anses adekvata. Materialet för undersökningen är tre verk/låtar ur rockgenren, som beskrivits med ovanstående begrepp: Close to the Edge med gruppen Yes från 1972, Sense of Doubt med David Bowie från 1977 och Sleep med gruppen Godspeed You! Black Emperor från 2000. Metoden är den auditiva musikanalysen, vilket innebär att analysen utgår från ett aktivt lyssnande på musikens förlopp.

The interest for wind power has increased in Sweden. Northern Sweden is especially interesting due to that a new wind resource map shows that there are areas in northern Sweden that have more potential for wind power than what have been known before. Therefore E.ON Vind is interested in finding out if, and where, there are suitable places for establishment of wind power in northern Sweden. The purpose of this master thesis is therefore to perform an inventory of northern Sweden for suitable places for wind power. The master thesis is performed at E.ON Vinds office at Vasagatan in Stockholm.

Examensarbetet har utförts på Atlas Copco Rock Drills AB i Örebro i divisionen Underground Rock Excavation (URE). På URE i Örebro bedrivs tillverkning av underjordsmaskiner för gruv- och tunnelindustrin. En del av dessa maskiner är så kallade bergsförstärkningsriggar vars funktion är att säkra upp berg i gruvor och tunnlar.Uppgiften för arbetet var att undersöka cementsystemet på en av dessa riggar, kabelbultningsriggen Cabletec LC.Målet var att ta fram nya förslag på förbättringar och efterföljande experiment, gällande riggens cementsystem som ska leda till en ökad tillgänglighet av Cabletec LC.Arbetet inleddes med att ställa upp frågeställningar som skulle behöva besvaras och åtgärder för att få svar på dessa utformades. Dessa frågeställningar utgjorde grunden till planeringen av arbetet. Aktiviteter som utfördes utifrån frågeställningarna var analys av dagens system, litterär studie, kundbesök, intervjuer med konstruktörer, idégenerering och utvärdering.Studien av maskinen visade att det fanns flera problem med cementsystemet, framförallt med pumpning, blandning och renhållning.

The Church of Sweden sent during the spring 2010 two documents, Teologiskagrundprinciper för arbetet I 2006 års handboksgrupp and Mässans grundordning forconsideration. The documents are parts in the work with writing a new service-book for theChurch of Sweden. After the documents had been sent for consideration by the dioceses therehas been a discussion about the proposal to make the preparation in the service of HolyCommunion facultative. My main question has been to se if there will be any change of theconfession, faith and doctrine in the Church of Sweden if the preparation becomes facultative.I have seen that the service-book is an expression for the confession of the Church of Sweden,therefore there will be no change of the confession of the Church of Sweden, but a change ofits expression.I have seen that there is no consensus in how the dioceses react over what is written in thetwo documents about the forgiveness and the atonement. My conclusion is that it may bydifficult for the Church of Sweden to fix a new service-book without first fix what the Churchof Sweden means with forgiveness and atonement..
