This case study examines how upper secondary schools in a municipality in the northern parts of Sweden structure their special pedagogy with Students who have ADHD and dyslexia, Students? and parents? experiences of this, and what regulates the schools management in this particular aspect. The results show that all the schools have special pedagogues and other support staff employed, though in varied extent. Furthermore, the resources are distributed differently from school to school. The focus, however, is always around communication between the concerned parties.

This paper is a study how Students at a high school in Falun, Sweden, estimates theirperformance in an upcoming math test which is then compared with the actual grade theStudent performed. The Students who participated also answered questions related to ?risksituations? to examine whether there is a correlation between how Students estimate theirperformance in the context and their risk behavior, and if the Students act like economicmodels assume. In agreement with previous studies, the boys in the survey tended to beoverconfident in their performance. The girls in the study were neither over- norunderconfident in her performance and no significant difference in the estimation of one'sperformance between the sexes could be proven.

According to the core contents in the curriculum for the compulsory school 2011 for the subject Physical Education grades 7-9, teachers of the subjects shall give their Students knowledge about body ideals within sports, and the society as a whole. The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze the attitude toward body ideals of the Students soon to leave secondary school. The study was based on a quantitative survey with 70 participating Students from three different schools. The results show that the schools, according to the Students, do not inform the Students about body ideals. However, the result shows that the Students consider body ideals as an important topic that needs to be dealt with in school, since they consider the adolescences of today are living with a pressure telling them what to look like.

Abstract The use of electronic media plays an important part in the life of youth and especially Internet and mobile phones are important in the social and cultural networks of youth. The first step of this thesis is to examine the ICT-based activities of upper secondary school Students through an online survey. The second step is to examine what didactic implications can be derived from the ICT-based activities in the subject of Swedish. Results from this survey and national and international research show that young people spend the majority of their leisure time on the Internet. The result also shows that media activities displace other school related activities such as traditional reading and writing.

Denna uppsats har utgått från en tidigare studie genomförd på ett amerikanskt universitet, där de använder skillnaden mellan den förväntade och den upplevda upplevelsen för att undersöka vilka faktorer som är viktiga för en Student. I denna uppsats har vi gått vidare där de slutade och kommer att specificera med ett mindre antal faktorer. I denna uppsats är forskningsfrågan: Vilka faktorer hos universitet har effekt på kundnöjdheten bland Studenter? Frågan svaras med hjälp av en enkätstudie genomförd av Studenter på Luleå tekniska universitet. Enkätstudien som genomförts mäter gapet mellan förväntad och upplevd upplevelse för 18 olika faktorer och analyseras med hjälp utav multiregression.

Tidigare forskning har bland annat visat att barn som vistas i klassrum med bra kvalitet är mer engagerade och att ett bra emotionellt stöd från läraren bidrar positivt till barnets sociala anpassning och lärande. Klassrumskvalitet delas enligt CLASS upp i emotionellt stöd, klassrummets organisering, pedagogiskt stöd och barnens genomsnittliga engagemang. Syftet i denna uppsats är att ta reda på vilket av områdena; emotionellt stöd, klassrummets organisering och pedagogiskt stöd som starkast predicerar barnens genomsnittliga engagemang i. Observation valdes som metod och gjordes på 16 olika förskoleavdelningar fördelat på 4 olika förskolor. Resultatet visade att det emotionella stödet starkast predicerar barns genomsnittliga engagemang.

The purpose of this study is to explore how teachers in Sweden and Croatia work with children that have problems like ADHD and dyslexia in school. I have chosen to compare pedagogical methods between Swedish and Croatian teachers which are used in work with children with difficulties when it comes to the education and teachers approach to these children. I have done a qualified study and have interviewed teachers in both Sweden and Croatia and one specialist in pedagogy in Croatia. I compared with these interviews information from earlier studies and literature. Results show that teachers in Sweden are of the opinion that every Student who has these difficulties is different and therefore the use a variation of pedagogical strategies is crucial.

In human service organizations it is important to enlighten the significance of human encounters. The aim of this study was to explore nursing Students experiences of developing empathy and professional relationship in encounters with patients and next of kin during their education. Interviews with five nursing Students were carried out. The method of analysing content analysis was used. One main theme and five subthemes were presented.

The purpose of this degree project was to build laboratory equipment for a new course in power electronics that starts this autumn 2010 at Uppsala University. The equipment is intended for Student labs and it covers the most important areas of the course including rectifying, buck-/boost-converters and PWM-modulation. It is built as one sealed unit where all the electronics are built-in but visible and it has a connection board where Students safely can connect the different circuits. The project has advanced from theoretical studies of circuit design, choosing of components and simulations to drawing the printed circuit board (PCB), soldering, case building, final testing and troubleshooting - basically most steps from an early idea to a final product. Measurements on the final product gave about the same results as the earlier simulations of the circuits and the result is overall satisfying..

The aim of the study was, through qualitative interviews with school counsellors in Swedish primary schools, to study what the counsellors are experiencing condition their ability to work proactively according to the Swedish Education Act provisions on Student health. During the study, six interviews with school counsellors who worked in the same suburbs, was conducted. The theoretical approach that was used is Michael Lipsky's theory of street-level bureaucrats and the term discretion. The overall outcome of the study was that the interviewed school counsellors felt that they did not have good opportunities to work preventively as the Education Act requires. The main reason for this was the school counsellor?s heavy workload.

Durban, South Africa?s third-largest city is a socially segregated post apartheid society, struggling with high unemployment and AIDS. The city becomes even more complex with a changing climate, creating an influx of people to the city, putting scarce resources under further stress. Warwick Junction, an important transport hub in the centre of Durban, holds a large site of informal trading alongside the formal markets. This informal sector generates large financial flows and provides for a rapidly growing population. The aim of this thesis is to develop an approach that is realistic and relevant to planning and design of an urban context in South Africa.

Impulsivitet och upplevd kontroll är båda viktiga konstrukt inompsykologi. Sambandet mellan dem har varit oklart delvis pgaotydlighet och oenighet gällande impulsivitetsbegreppet. På senare tidhar nya teoretiska modeller av impulsivitet som ett mångfasetteratkonstrukt utvecklats. Syftet med denna studie var dels att undersökapsykometriska egenskaper hos en svensk översättning av UPPSskalan,dels att undersöka sambandet mellan upplevd kontroll ochimpulsivitet med hjälp av den nya UPPS-modellen. Datainsamlinggenomfördes med självskattningsskalor.

Studiens syfte var att undersöka vilka former av psykisk ohälsa som skolkuratorer mötte samt hur de arbetade med detta. Vi har därför utfört en kvalitativ studie och intervjuat sex skolkuratorer som arbetar med högstadieelever. Resultatet visade att psykisk ohälsa var ett mångtydigt begrepp, men att de mest centrala formerna av psykisk ohälsa i skolan var stress, prestationsångest och självskadebeteende. Skolkuratorernas arbetsuppgifter upplevdes som diffusa, men de tre mest framträdande arbetsuppgifterna i samband med psykisk ohälsa var kartläggning, enskilda samtal samt att remittera elever vidare till andra aktörer. Skolkuratorerna fokuserade främst på akuta insatser vilket resulterade i att det förebyggande arbetet att motverka psykisk ohälsa blev eftersatt.

The primary purpose of this essay is to study and describe what Student?s self experiences of the media coverage of social work. The theoretical perspectives applied to analyse the empirical data are social constructionism, roles, and construction. The method of this study is qualitative and based on ten personal interviews. The material has been analysed by condensed meaning units and three themes have been used, the media coverage of social work, the relationship between social workers and media and the influence media coverage has on the Students.The results given from these interviews show that the majority of the interviewed group considers the media coverage of social work as negative.
