Background: Obesity has expanded to a nationwide issue that affects millions of people. The healthcare system struggles to handle the epidemic as the problem grows. Studies show that healthcare workers have negative attitudes toward obese and overweight people and that they lack knowledge and proper tools to support this patient group. Motivational interviewing (MI) is a known technique for initiating lifestyle changes with patients. Aim: The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of MI as a tool for weight loss and sustainable lifestyle changes for people with obesity and overweight. Method: This study uses a literature review methodology with a systematic perspective. Data is gathered and analyzed to investigate how MI affects weight loss.

The present study investigated free narratives in 72 children between 3;11 and 9;0 years. Participants were recruited from a multilingual environment in eastern Gothenburg. The children were instructed to make up their own stories after being provided with openings, ?Story stems?. The stories were then transcribed and analyzed on micro- and macro level and narrative evaluation.

In 2002 George W. Bush held a speech where he classified six nations as being the main threats to American security, one of them being Syria, a state with a secular constitution, no resent offence towards the US, and with an improved diplomatic relationship to the US during the Clinton years.Being an ally to the Soviet Union during the Cold War Syria was forced to redefine its role in the region. Using neorealistc theory one part conlusion is the fact that the new Syrian leader, Bashar al-Hasad, in the early 21th century determined to set higher goals for the Syrian power ambition in the Middle East, threatened to destabilize the region and leave the US and its allies in a caotic situation.In the US, however, the new administration after 11/9 sharpened its tone towards states that did not cooperate in the new ?war on terrorism? or/and were likely to harbour terrorists. Syria was accused of doing both.

Det egentliga målet med denna rapport är att skapa underlag för beräkning av hur mycket biomassa från grot som kan blitillgänglig för förgasningsanläggningen VVBGC (Växjö Värnamo Biomass Gasification Centre) i Värnamo som är enpilotanläggning för CHRISGAS (Clean Hydrogen-RIch Synthesis GAS). CHRISGAS-projektet syftar till att demonstreraframställning av väterik syntetisk gas för tillverkning av fordonsbränsle.Om upptagningsområdet till VVBGC antas vara 100 km radie finns det inom detta område ca 1,8 miljoner hektarskogsmark, inom detta upptagningsområde slutavverkas ca 18 000 ha varje år där grotuttag är möjligt. Enslutavverkningsmogen tall med en brösthöjdsdiameter på 30 cm har ett grotutbyte på 0,23 kg grot per kg stamved,medan en gran med samma brösthöjdsdiameter har hela 0,42 kg grot per kg stamved. En björk med brösthöjdsdiameterpå 25 cm har däremot ett grotutbyte på 0,31 kg grot per kg stamved. Totalt sett finns varje år en potentiell tillgångtorrmassa grot på ca 710 000 ton inom upptagningsområdet, men beroende på vilken hanteringsmetod som användsförsvinner mellan 30?50 % utav torrmassan.

This thesis explores some key aspects of early Heidegger?s interpretations of Kant from a phenomenological perspective. In general terms, it analyzes Heidegger?s claim that Kant?s faculties share a common root in the transcendental imagination, as a critical development of motives found in Husserl?s phenomenology.More precisely, the thesis argues that the motive for deriving Kant?s first faculty, intuition, from the synthesis of imagination can be understood as an attempt to account for the receptivity of a finite subject, without yielding to a causal description of sensibility. Phenomenology shares this problem with Kant?s critical philosophy.

Storytelling is a complex action that requires many linguistic and other cognitive abilities, like memory and attention. Resent research has shown a correlation between oral story retelling and picture arrangement among children with neurodevelopmental disorders. The present study analyzes if this correlation exists among a convenience sample of children from the general population. 77 children between 3:11 and 9:0 years old accomplished Bus Story Test and a picture arrangement task from WISC III. Significant correlations was found between picture arrangement and Bus Story Test?s subscores sentence length, subordinate clauses and information.

All human beings need and have the right to a language. How a language is learned and used depends on the individual conditions. This study considers the work to development the language done by pedagogues in a special school for mentally retarded children. How do pedagogues work to develop the language in children who are so different and have so different conditions and needs? That is the central aim of this study.

Bakgrund: Den basala processen för nyblivna föräldrar är att ta kontroll över sin situation vilket innebär hårt arbete för att organisera sina behov och ta till sig råd och stöd för att kunna tillgodese barnets behov. Föräldrars upplevda behov är relaterade till osäkerhet i föräldraskapet och stöd behövs för att stärka dem i föräldrarollen. Effekterna av stöd kan vara att föräldrars mentala hälsa förbättras och barnens behov blir tillgodosedda. Sjuksköterskan på BVC har till uppgift att stödja föräldrar, men hur stödet ser ut finns inte klart beskrivet i tidigare forskning.Syfte: Syftet med studien var att få en ökad förståelse för betydelsen av sjuksköterskans stöd till nyblivna föräldrar för att stödja dem i föräldrarollen.Metod: Metasyntes valdes till metod med en hermeneutisk ansats i analysen.Resultat: Resultatet visade att föräldrar behövde vägledning på föräldraskapets hinderbana för att öka självförtroendet och självtilliten med underrubrikerna: ser sjuksköterskans om en symbol för stöd, att ha ett gemensamt perspektiv på föräldraskapet, att tillit skapas ? en förutsättning för att kunna ta emot stöd och att växa i självtillit i sitt föräldraskap.

Att arbeta med kommunikativ förmåga är en av grundstenarna i logopedens yrkesutövning. Syftet med denna studie var att utveckla ett självskattningsinstrument som kan mäta kommunikativ förmåga, med möjlighet att fånga upp både positiva och negativa aspekter av förmågan. Instrumentet utvecklades i enlighet med klassisk mätteori. En första utvärdering av instrumentet gjordes i ett pilottest med 13 respondenter. Resultatet ledde till att antal items, det vill säga frågor, minskades från 133 till 78 och individuella items förändrades vid behov.

Den här studien grundar sig på skillnader mellan återgivning av ord, sorterade efter semantiska kategorier, i förhållanden med rent tal och maskerat tal. 32 personer deltog i studien där de först blev visuellt presenterade för en lista med 15 semantiska ord som skulle memoreras och sedan återges i fri ordning i två olika betingelser av bakgrundsljud, tal och maskerat tal. Utifrån tidigare studier utformades studiens hypoteser; vid återgivningen ökar antalet visuellt presenterade ord när bakgrundstalet maskeras av ett brus jämfört med när bakgrundstalet spelas upp utan maskering. Antalet auditivt presenterade ord som återges minskar när bakgrundstalet maskeras av ett brus jämfört med när bakgrundstalet spelas upp utan maskering. Resultaten gav stöd åt hypotesen att försökspersonerna återgav fler visuellt presenterade ord när bakgrundstalet maskerades av ett brus.

In this essay I have been writing about the psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich. It was written at the Library School in Borås as a contribution to the struggle of the maintenance of the free word. In the essay I have been concentrating on how Reich was received in Sweden from the publication of his first book 1927 to the year of 2000. The work started with a biographical chapter and a chapter about Reich's scientific development, which was divided into three phases: one psychoanalytical and Marxist, one physiological and biological and a third phase that makes a synthesis of these in a cosmological form. The analytic material has been books and articles from periodicals and papers.

Background:Due to a more open climate in society for homosexual people several lesbian couples have given birth to children in their relations. Research has shown no differences between children in lesbian families and children in heterosexual families considering mental and social health. International research has also shown that lesbian parents often have bad experiences from meetings with healthcare providers.Theaim of this study was to describe lesbian child families/familyplannings and the lesbian parents experiences and expectations of the healthcare.Themethod for the study was qualitative interview with 9 lesbian parents. The data was analysed by the queer theory heteronormative concept.Theresults of the research was that lesbian families considered themselves as a nuclear family and at the same time distanced themselves from the nuclear family concept. The findings showed that lesbian couples are involved in a very long process when they try to become parents.

This Master?s Thesis is an evaluation of the software Xilinx System Generator (XSG) and blockset for Matlab. XSG is a module to simulink developed by Xilinx in order to generate VHDL code directly from functions implemented in Matlab. The evaluation was made at Saab Avionics AB in Järfälla, north of Stockholm. In order to investigate the performance of this new module XSG to simulink, a model of a frequency estimator often used in digital radar receivers were implemented in Matlab using XSG.
