In 2014-2015 a large-scale Ebola epidemic occurred in West Africa. The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency was given the order to conduct the Swedish response. The purpose of this case study was to investigate the impact on project planning of the three factors: the nature of the crisis, political initiative and developing countries. In this case study the crisis was an epidemic, and the project was initiated by the Swedish Government and conducted in two developing countries. The results were intended to contribute to developed understanding and recommendations for future project managers in similar projects.

BackgroundToday a common approach to solve a complicated problem is to assemble a temporary workforce in order to solve the problem by working together within a project. One of the difficulties with working in projects is to maintain the planned budget. Working hours and costs are often exceeded. Many companies presume that any certain project will succeed, a presumption that leads companies not to anticipate risks involved in a project. In companies today there is seldom time for evaluation or moderation of a project, in order to have time for evaluation there is a great need for an adequate planning of the project.IntentThe intention with this study is to create a model for planning, budgeting and evaluation of projects within consultancy companies.MethodWith the help of interviews and discussions within the group Hamnar och Byggkonstruktioner at Sweco has evidence to present a proposal on planning, budgeting and monitoring been developed.ResultsA model has been developed to ease for consultancy companies to plan, budget, monitor and evaluate projects.

Mölndalsåns dalgång är ett av Göteborgs större och äldre industriområden som inom den närmsta framtiden är aktuell som utvecklingsområde. Dalgången som är Göteborgs kommunikationsstråk mot söder, sträcker sig radiellt från centrum ut mot Mölndal. Området är idag ett relativt osammanhängande och ostrukturerat område med en markanvändning som till största delen utgörs av verksamheter. Genom dalgången rinner Mölndalsån som historiskt sett har fungerat både som transportmedel och kraftkälla. Områdets roll som länk och kommunikationsstråk är även idag minst lika viktig med spårväg, järnväg, bilväg samt cykel- och gångväg som förbinder regionen mot söder.

Under första halvan av 1990-talet pågick den dödligaste konflikten i Europa sedan Andra världskriget. Som en direkt följd av Jugoslaviens upplösning tog Sverige under kort tid emot över 70000 flyktingar från konfliktområdet. I skenet av dagens flyktingströmmar från konfliktdrabbade områden i Mellanöstern rapporterade Arbetsmarknadsdepartementet 2013 om ett lyckat inträde på arbetsmarknaden för denna grupp jugoslaver. I bakgrund till detta är syftet med denna uppsats att genom statistisk analys undersöka sambanden mellan ett högt deltagande på arbetsmarknaden och en minskad grad boendesegregation. Området för studien är begränsat till Gävle kommun.

De flesta kommuner i Sverige arbetar idag på något sätt för att minska biltrafiken. Så även Göteborgs stad som menar att ?biltrafiken ska minska till förmån för resande med kollektivtrafik och cykel?. Upp till hälften av restiden med kollektivtrafik tillbringas på bytespunkten, ändå är det en plats som lätt glöms bort. Syftet med den här uppsatsen har varit att undersöka vilka aspekter som påverkar bytespunktens attraktivitet samt att genomföra en fallstudie på två bytespunkter i Göteborg. I fallstudien har bytespunkterna Hjalmar Brantingsplatsen och Marklandsgatan undersökts. Detta har gjorts med hjälp av en checklista skapad efter den forskning och de teorier som nämns i uppsatsens kunskaps- och forskningsöversikt.

Med hållbar stadsplanering menas en planering som värnar om framtiden ochkommande generationer. Inom detta område berörs såväl tekniska som fysiskaaspekter inom samhället. Rapporten fokuserar på hållbar stadsplanering i form avkommunikation, rörelse och integration vid utformning och planering avstadsdelar, samt det faktum att det finns digitala verktyg som inte utnyttjasregelbundet i det dagliga arbetet.I samspel med Borås Stad har en analys gällande arbetsmetoder vid stadsplaneringgenomförts. Begreppen kommunikation, rörelse och integration diskuteras ochanalyseras i relation till kommunens arbete. Syftet är att formulera och pröva enarbetsmodell som kan vara vägledande inom arbetet med hållbar stadsplanering.Målet är undersöka om det finns grund för introducering av digitala verktyg somstrategi i kommunens stadsplanering.Frågeställningarna berör kvalitetsbegreppen kommunikation, rörelse ochintegration samt hur dessa tillämpas vid daglig kommunal stadsplanering.

This thesis analyses the Funnel Beaker Culture on the island of Gotland. Since no comprehensive studies of the remains of the pottery have been made, this is one of the reasons why I chose to study this topic. The purpose of this study is to analyze the pottery and to discuss the chronological and spatial implications. Four sites from the Funnel Beaker Culture on Gotland are studied; Mölner/Gullarve, Gräne, Ardags and Suderkvie. Ceramic samples are analyzed with respect to its ornament and it is discussed if the pottery found at various sites are contemporary.

Due to an increased population in cities the need of densification of cities increases. This means that the amount of ecological elements in the city is at risk of decreasing. Ecological services contribute to the city?s climate by softening the negative impacts that densification of cities means. Thus increases the will and ambition in city planning in to preserve greenery.This is an interdisciplinary thesis within the subject of geography that studies Biotope Area Factor (BAF), a planning tool that is used in city planning with the purpose of compensating for lost ecological services associated with new housing estate.

The vizualisation and creating of places is an essential part of physical planning. The notion of places as placeless, is likewise of importance for the creating of places. Some tendencies concerning architecture like modernism, as well as constructions whome don´t fit in their landscape, have contributed to the benaming and experience of places as placeless. Phenomenon as globalization and post-industrialism have in some cases conduced to the withering of the sense of place. With starting-point in litteraturestudies, observations of places and interviews, this is a lucubration concerning the means of placelessness in physical planning.

Several cities have implemented various projects to improve traffic safety in city centers.During 1970s and 1980s the city centers changed as the suburbs grew and large shopping centers were located outside the center. At the same time, several projects were initiated with construction of pedestrian streets and restriction of traffic in the center. In year 1994,shared-used areas were introduced in Sweden and these areas are often used in center environments.In Sweden, municipalities are responsible for integrating security in public places and in comprehensive plans and detailed development plans. The National Board of Housing,Building and Planning is the authority for administrating planning issues and develop general guidance about planning. Traffic is one of their key issues, although today there are no concrete guidelines from the National Board of Housing, Building and Planningfor the design of traffic safety in city centers.Traffic safety in city centers affects many people because the city center is a public place.It is therefore important that there are current guidelines available that are helpful for changes and improvements in traffic safety in the city center.The purpose of this report is to formulate guidelines for planning city centers from a traffic safety perspective.

Throughout the history, the theories which have shaped our cities have varied from time to time. We have gone from a city development characterized by spontaneousness, where commerce and people side by side shared the space, into a function-based planning where people and functions are being increasingly separated. Regardless the forms of planning the city design causes implications for those who live there when the physical environment controls were we live, work and meet. In today's society where `sustainability ' has become a watchword the current community planning needs to be questioned so we, in the best possible way, can meet future changes. Searching for new planning strategies is part of this and in this essay the term `mixed-use´ will be investigated and analyzed in terms of its social aspects.

PROBLEM Området idag ses som ett problemområde eftersom stora delar av i första hand industriområdet har tillåtits att förfalla. På Ön har en förvandling till modernare stadsbebyggelse påbörjats men utvecklingen verkar ha stannat upp. Det ger intryck av det är svårt att gå vidare och knyta ihop alla de påbörjade projekten. Stora delar är helt stängda för allmänheten, vilket innebär att kustens stora grönstråk bryts här. Här är det vare sig grönt eller tillgängligt. Malmö stad har angett detta område som ett omvandlingsområde för blandad stadsbebyggelse.

Detta examensarbete är en utredande uppsats som behandlar och jämför medborgardeltagandet i två stora infrastrukturprojekt, Citytunneln i Malmö och Citybanan i Stockholm. Demokratiseringen av Sverige tillsammans med medborgardeltagandets utveckling har förändrat synen på samhällsplaneringen under 1900-talet. Den strikta rationella planeringen har med tiden utvecklats mot att i allt högre grad engagera både enskilda medborgare och privata aktörer i planeringsarbetet. Politikernas och planerarnas sätt att arbeta med medborgardeltagande har därmed behövt anpassas till de nya förhållningssätten och kraven medborgarna ställer. Den historiska framväxten tillsammans med ett antal planeringsteorier och demokratimodeller är uppsatsens utgångspunkter.

It has become increasingly common for a city or region to use sporting and media events to promote themselves. But what is behind these events? What kind of organisation is necessary to plan and run them? In the summer of 2009 the internationally known Volvo Ocean Race will arrive in Stockholm. The race is eight months long and will be hosted in Stockholm for almost the whole of June. The City of Stockholm is behind the event and Stockholm?s marinas will be responsible for making sure that everything runs smoothly and on schedule.

Urban planning is not only a matter of architectural trends; it is first and foremost political. This thesis seeks to understand the links between political ideas and visions for the city and the physical structure of the city. The study aims to construct a model to help understand these links, a helpful tool in analysing a city, focusing on the one hand at the physical structure of what I call "The City as a Welfare Provider" and on the other hand at "The City as a Growth Engine". It also sets out to test this model in an empirical study of Stockholm and the soon-to-be built district of Norra Station in the same city.The analysis shows that Stockholm has ambitions to be a welfare provider to its citizens, but have also adopted to a discourse of interurban competition which stresses the importance for the city to enhance economical growth. What is interesting is that the physical structures promoted in the planning documents of Stockholm are nearly exclusively those associated with the model of "The City as a Growth Engine"..
