1 252 unaccompanied refugee children have disappeared in Sweden since 2007. These children have never been found. Nearly one unaccompanied refuge child disappears per day. This happens during the time they are within the Swedish authorities' responsibility. This thesis uses the framing theory of the mass media regarding the missing unaccompanied refugee children and what the mass media considers to be the cause of their disappearance, the moral aspects of the articles and the solutions to the problem.

Syftet leder fram till följande frågeställningar:o Vilken bild skapar medias framställning av ungdomar med avvikande beteende?o Vilka följder genererar medias bild?Som teoretisk ram för min studie har jag valt Erving Goffman, Michel Foucault och Emile Durkheim som utgångspunkt för min studie som även till stor del grundar sig i tidigare forskning inom området där artiklar från Brottsförebyggande rådets tidsskrift Apropå blir användbara i min analys. Jag har använt mig av den kvalitativa metoden diskursanalys. Slutsatser som framkommit är att media framställer en ganska hotfull bild av ungdomar i samhället och medias närmande av underhållningsindustri innebär att det många gånger är en vilseledande och inte helt sanningsenlig bild som skildras (Apropå Nr 3 2001).

The purpose of this essay was to examine what consequenses of alcohol and narcotics that youth magazines describe and how the user and addict is described. My porpose was also to examine what situations the magazines claim that alcohol and narcotics are related to.The questions for my studie was:1. How is an alcoholic/drug addict /user described in youth magazines?2. What situations are related to alcohol/narcotics in youth magazines?3.

The aim of the study was to understand professionals? perceptions and experiences of adolescent stress. In the study I interested myself further if you can identify gender-specific patterns in the professional stories about young people's stress and stress related illness. Five interviews were conducted with professionals in psychiatry and social work. The thesis took its incipience in social constructionism.

Syfte: Vilken effekt som publiceringar från media med dåliga ekonomiska tider har på aktiespararna på stockholmsbörsen samt undersöka om dessa nyheter påverkar aktiepriset på ett negativt eller positiv samt hur aktiesparare reagerar på ekonomiska indikationer samt om aktiespararens utbildningsnivå har någon effekt på om aktiespararen använder sig av media som beslutsunderlag i sin aktiehandel.Metod: Det är två undersökningar varav den ena är en kvantitativ enkätundersökning utan kvalitativa element. Den andra är ett stickprov på aktiekurser i samband med specifika artiklars publiceringsdatum.Slutsats: Utifrån de resultat som presenterats så går det att utläsa att aktiesparare sällan använder sig av media som beslutsunderlag när de handlar med aktier samt så finns inget negativt samband med de valda artiklarna och aktiekursen. Det fanns dock ett sammanband i det att aktiesparare med högra utbildning är mindre benägna att använda sig av media och dess indikationer som beslutsunderlag i deras handel med aktier.Fortsatt forskning: Det finns flera intressanta undersökningsfrågor kvar, bland annat så skulle undersökningen behövas göras på mer än ett område av media samt på flera olika områden av aktiemarknaden än dagligvaruhandeln. En annan intressant fråga är att enligt enkätundersökningen så är många aktiesparare högt utbildade inom ämnet men är fortfarande osäkra på deras effekt på aktiemarknaden när de handlar.Uppsatsens bidrag: Ett försök till att undersöka om media skapar sina egna självuppfyllande profetior i samband med att de publicerar nyheter med en negativ vinkling på det kommande ekonomiska klimatet. Enligt undersökningen så har inga tidningsartiklar någon märkbar effekt på aktiekursen..

Purpose: The purpose with this study is to analyze if the Swedish authorities and media had different ways of discussing the new influenza, in connection with the pandemic classification June 11, 2009. This is the first time an influenza has been classified as a pandemic since the Hongkong-influenza in1968. Methodology: The method used for the study is discourse analysis, aqualitative method that gives the opportunity to study not only what is said, but how things are said. In this thesis, the aim is to study how the image ofthe new influenza is transmitted via the texts. I början av 2003 inledde de svarta bönderna i Darfur i Sudan ett väpnat uppror mot den sudanesiska regeringsmakten. Detta på grund av att de har känt sig diskriminerande och negativt särbehandlade. Regeringen svarar snabbt genom att träna upp och sätta in den så kallande Janjaweed-gerillan som med regeringens stöd börjar bedriva etnisk resning och folkmord i Darfur.Sudan har sedan urminnes tider präglats av konflikter mellan araber och svarta, och denna konflikt är inget undantag. Det mänskliga lidandet i Darfur slår hela tiden nya rekord, men trots det står omvärlden bredvid och tittar på. FN har försökt att få till åtgärder men lamslås av veto i säkerhetsrådet.

The aim of this thesis is to interpret and discuss the weapon-graves of Viking Age Birka. The weapon-grave phenomenon is deemed differential in relation to the rest of the grave-material of the site, and thus the questions that motivate the thesis is: who was buried with weapons and why? Further questions arise regarding the social aspects of individuals who were buriedalong with weapons. The theoretical approach will be to evaluate any differences in 'social class', 'social age' and 'gender' between the weapon-grave contexts. By conducting qualitativeand quantified analysis of the grave-goods, this thesis adresses both overall and detailed patterns in correlation and constellations between weapons, other grave-goods and terms of burial..

The aim of this master's thesis is to study what attitude public libraries in Sweden show towards video games. By using critical discourse analysis as both theory and method we analyse several texts emerging from a debate mainly discussed in blogs. Main topics in the debate are video games in the library, the purpose of the public library and Library 2.0. Our analysis focus on views expressed concerning the work and purpose of the public library, the librarian and the library user - and to identify the main visible discourses in the discussion.Our findings consist of two discourses representing two different views in the debate. We call these two discourses the general educational discourse and the interactive discourse.

Studerade effekten av social ångest och självfokusering på attributionsstil och impressionsbildning. En 2 (uppmätt hög/låg social ångest) x 2 (manipulerad hög/låg självfokusering) design användes. Deltagarna var 68 studenter, 56 kvinnor och 12 män. För attributionsstil användes separata skalor för bra och dåliga händelser. För impressionsbildning användes en positiv och en negativ skala.

The aim of this study was to examine the existing discourse of assault in Aftonbladet from the years 2012 and 2013. We have studied news articles and analysed them by using discourse analysis as theory and method.The study shows that the portrayal of perpetrators and victims in assault cases tend to differ depending on gender. The women is portrayed as weak and part of a homogeneous group while the man is portrayed as dominant and offered a more individual role. The study also shows that the normative group is separated from the deviate groups in society. The analyze show that media, through this representation, maintains the normative power in society.

The material of the essay exists of two games and five reviews. The method that is being used is a content analysis. The games that are being analysed are Jade Empire and Grand Theft Auto ? San Andreas.Main results: The video games are often connected to brutal violence but the analysis of the game Jade Empire shows that it is possible to hve control of the violence in the games and that the player has a possibility to choose the outcome of violence.

The aim of this paper is to describe, visualise- and analyse media’s discursive representations of female politicians in Swedish printed media. The focus of the analysis is to show if, and how these images can be understood and interpreted in terms of a socially constructed gender stereotyped suborder. The paper takes it's theoretical and methodological departure in the discourse analysis, which is combined with feminist political theory. Feminist political theory is concretised in the use of what Yvonne Hirdman calls the "gender system" which arranges the sexes into their respective genders and is based upon two rules/principles/logics: 1) the rule of distinctive separation, and 2) the male norm. Closely related to the aim of the paper lies also the critical theoretic assumption that people has to be aware of their own part in the production and reproduction of the discourse in order to change make a change.

This study aims to research how digital media can be used for communication and information management between teachers at preschools and children?s homes. To get an understanding of this we have investigated which channels are being used and for what purposes. The interest has also been to explore preschool teachers and caregivers? attitudes towards digital communication in preschools.A qualitative case study of comparative nature has been conducted, where two preschools were selected because of their use and non-use of digital media for communication with caregivers.
