Digital kommunikation i förskolan

En kvalitativ fallstudie om hur digitala medier kan anvä?ndas fö?r kommunikation mellan hem och fö?rskola


This study aims to research how digital media can be used for communication and information management between teachers at preschools and children?s homes. To get an understanding of this we have investigated which channels are being used and for what purposes. The interest has also been to explore preschool teachers and caregivers? attitudes towards digital communication in preschools.A qualitative case study of comparative nature has been conducted, where two preschools were selected because of their use and non-use of digital media for communication with caregivers. The study's data collection occurred through interviews with staff and a questionnaire was answered by caregivers at both preschools.The results show that there are both opportunities and difficulties of digital communication in preschool. They can lead to an increased participation of caregivers and act as a resource and supplement to traditional channels. A common opinion in the preschools was that verbal communication should never be replaced by digital media. Digital communication can, however, bring another dimension to the verbal dialogue. There are many components that must interact for digital media to be used efficiently. Authorities can provide the preschool with material conditions and skills training of staff. However, a positive attitude and an interest among preschool teachers and caregivers are also required for the preschool to be able to take advantage of the opportunities that digital communications can provide.
