I detta examensarbete har metoder för design av en FPGA-baserad PCM-till-PWM-modulator för klass D-audioförstärkare testats och utvärderats. Rapporten diskuterar med stöd av matematisk analys och simuleringar interpoleringsmetoder, pulsbreddsmodulering, samplingsprocesser och sigma-delta-modulatorer. Den föreslagna designen bygger på uppsampling, förkompensering, brusformning och pulsbreddsmodulering. Designens prestanda har verifierats genom simulering av modell och implementering i hårdvara. .

In this thesis some different modulation schemes for xDSL-techniques are compared. The investigated techniques are ADSL, G.lite, ADSL2, HDSL, SHDSL and VDSL. The modulation methods used are DMT, CAP and different versions of PAM. Several broadband techniques also use Trellis Coded Modulation (TCM) to increase the coding gain of the transmission. For each one of the different modulation methods the signal-to-noise ratio is calculated for generating a bit error rate probability of 10-7.

The thesis demonstrates a low-cost, low-bandwidth and low-resolution Analog-to- Digital Converter(ADC) in 0.35 um CMOS Process. A second-order Sigma-Delta modulator is used as the basis of the A/D Converter. A Semi-Uniform quantizer is used with the modulator to take advantage of input distributions that are dominated by smaller-amplitude signals e.g. Audio, Voice and Image-sensor signals. A Single-bit feedback topology is used with a multi-bit quantizer in the modulator.

The improvement programme Six Sigma has often been surrounded by an air of success since it was introduced in the 1980s. Yet there are cases in which introduction of the Six Sigma improvement programme show far from successful results, even complete implementation failures with no traces of the Six Sigma methodology or any improvements after completion of the introduction. These failures can cause severe damage to organizations through direct monetary loss caused by a negative result of the investment. Indirectly the failure can cause confusion in the organization and loss of employee motivation. The conclusions have been derived based on a qualitative case study at a Swedish telecommunications company.

Design for Six Sigma aims to improve and structure the development process of an organisation and consider the application of the innovation problem solving. The concept aims to leave the structure of the traditional Six Sigma concept and instead, from an innovative perspective, search for new solutions to existing problems. The subscribers can use this mobile application to access information regarding their consumption, invoices and active subscriptions. Sedan millennieskiftet har en ny förbättringsmetodik vid namn Lean Sex Sigma utvecklats genom att integrera de båda tidigare. Diskussionerna om Lean Sex Sigma har dock till största del hållits på en teoretisk nivå och det finns få praktiska exempel. Avsaknaden på praktiska exempel beror främst på avsaknaden av ett standardramverk för en Lean Sex Sigma modell, trots att många författare tidigare föreslagit olika modeller.Syftet med denna studie är att utveckla och föreslå en modell för Lean Sex Sigma som kan användas som standardramverk i framtiden.

I föreliggande studie undersöks hur användare upplever användbarheten i ett säkerhetskritiskt system ? Luftfartsverkets flygledningssystem SIGMA. Utifrån litteraturstudier definieras begreppen användbarhet och säkerhetskritiska system. Empirin utgörs av intervjuer med användare av SIGMA-systemet. Studien visade att användarna upplever att systemet i väsentliga delar har bra användbarhet, vilket utifrån litteraturstudier, intervjuer och efterföljande analys främst tycks bero på att systemet arbetats fram med stor användarmedverkan och att det var utarbetat specifikt för arbetsplatsen.

Detta examensarbete är utfört på SSAB Tunnplåt AB i Luleå som tillverkar stålsträngar, även kallat slabs. Syftet med denna rapport är att beskriva hur det undersökta företaget kan införa och använda sig av arbetssättet Sex Sigma och dess förbättringsmetod DMAIC, med målet att reducera kvalitetsbristkostnader. För att möjliggöra detta har ett förbättringsprojekt genomförts där de analysbommar som uppkommer vid legering av stål som innehåller niob (Nb) utretts. De datainsamlingsmetoder som använts är intervjuer samt utvalda kvalitetsverktyg som föreslagits inom den använda förbättringsmetoden DMAIC. Projektets resultat visar att SSAB Tunnplåt AB i Luleå skulle kunna dra stora fördelar av att använda sig av Sex Sigma och DMAIC-metoden i framtida förbättringsprojekt.

This paper is about the new methods and metrics used in industry and business today striving for better revenues and larger market shares. It investigates the relations between the old fordistic and tayloristic way of manufacturing and compares it to the models used in industry today for being competitive, seeking to please customers and becoming more flexible. More specific the paper is about if Six Sigma and lean production are the key for succeeding these days. SKF:s factory in Gothenburg and other companies will make an example for how these methods are used in practice.The aim is to try to answer if these systems with inherited tools and methods are the right way to get the flexibility that is needed for being able to deliver the right goods to customers and market. For a company to be flexible decisions must be made fast and needed changes must be able to be done easy and without too large costs and investments.

Examensarbetet har utförts vid SCA Packaging Obbola AB. Företaget tillverkar oblekt liner vilket är ytskiktet till wellpapp. Under början av 2005 startade företaget implementering av Sex Sigma som systematiskt arbetssätt för kvalitetsförbättringar. Examensarbetet har bedrivits som ett Sex Sigma projekt vid företaget och de erfarenheter som erhållits under arbetets gång har legat till grund för utvärdering av implementeringsarbetet för Sex Sigma vid företaget. Sex Sigma projektet inriktades på att minska pappersförluster vid produktionsomställningar.

The aim of this project is to find a concept solution for a wireless transmitting system, installed to transmit data from a hydrophone of the ocean floor down by a wave power generator to the office on shore. The project is a literature review in which previous observations and tests are analyzed and put together to find a solution. The result was a comprehensive solution that includes an acoustic modem to transfer captured information from the bottom to the surface, wirelessly through the water. The information is then sent fron the surface on radio waves through the GSM network to the office on land. Between under and over water there are components to convert information between acoustic waves and radio waves, but also various types of modulation, such as amplitude and frequency modulation is required..
