Researchers, planners, and government agencies agree that road safety for children must be a priority and in particular that children should have a safe and secure way to travel to and from school regardless of age or the distance travelled. In Sweden, child traffic safety is a key part of the country?s Nollvision, a long-term traffic policy goal of ?no deaths or serious injuries?. Unfortunately, many countries have recorded increases in child traffic accidents as the percentage of parents who drive their children to school and thus congestion around schools has increased. Common strategies include traffic safety education for children, the redesign and improvement of traffic infrastructure, bicycle training, and carpooling.This thesis assesses the traffic problem around Ludvigsberg School in the district Valbo in Gävle, Sweden.

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to find out what mathematical content primary school children encounter in their free options at school.Through observation, the study defines mathematical areas that primary school students encounter in their free options at school. We want the study to show the reader the mathematics that students continuously meet without associating it with regular mathematics as taught in school.A number of mathematical areas have been defined in the analysis of the observations. These areas have subsequently been discussed more thoroughly. Finally, the areas have been arranged in a grid system to clarify the results.In our study, we have discovered that mathematics exists in all the observed situations the students participated in.We believe that observation as a method can give teachers a tool for helping students associate practical actions during their free options with the more theoretical aspects of formal teaching of mathematics. The main purpose of this bachelor?s thesis is to examine how Swedish upper secondary school librarians and related staff relate to the online encyclopaedia Wikipedia. The research is placed in the all-embracing context of information literacy and source criticism on the Internet. The study was carried out in the form of qualitative interviews and based on two theoretical bases: firstly, the concept of cognitive authority stipulated by Patrick Wilson, and secondly the idea that Wikipedia has a draw towards late modern epistemological assumptions. The latter theory was also associated with the perceptions of knowledge among the library staff interviewed.

The aim of this study was to investigate the knowledge of caries and gingivitis among third to fifth grade school children. A questionnaire was distributed to 117 children of a primary school in the south of Sweden. The result of the study indicate that the children had good knowledge regarding development and prevention of caries and gingivitis. However, the children did not know the meaning of the words caries and gingivitis. The children also appeared to lack important information about dietary measures to achieve good dental health.

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka vilken uppfattning pedagogerna har om elevers stress och vad de gör konkret för att försöka eliminera stressade situationer. Vi vill undersöka vilket behov pedagogerna finner i att få specialpedagogiska insatser och på vilket/vilka sätt specialpedagogen kan stödja pedagogerna. Vi har valt att göra en kvalitativ undersökning genom att intervjua elva pedagoger i åren 4 ? 6, efter halvstrukturerade frågor. Resultaten från intervjuerna tillsammans med litteraturstudier och egna erfarenheter har visat att pedagogerna ser sig själva som medvetna inom området om elevers stress.

Jag har utfört en empirisk studie med syfte att undersöka barns upplevelser av stress. Dels barns uppfattningar av begreppet stress, dels deras erfarenheter av stress i sin vardag. Med vardag avses hemma, på fritiden och i skolan. Det empiriska materialet bygger på tolv öppna och ostrukturerade intervjuer med sex pojkar och sex flickor i år 3 och 6. Forskning har visat på skillnader i pojkars och flickors reaktioner på stress.

This essay is a comparative research between pupils' experience of how the headmaster, teachers and other school staff interpret and apply the democratic education. The results are based on a survey carried out in senior high school, as well as interviews with the school staff. The democratic education charge has a long history of Swedish school system and is the basis for the maintenance of a democratic society. Both policy paper of state investigations and researchers in the field, regard to school as the primary and unique instance in order to promote and develop democratic skills in children and young people. However, it is shown that those who come out from school lack of knowledge and awareness of democracy and the will to speak their mind.

 Purpose/Aim: The goal of this thesis is to examine access and knowledge computers and the Internet among the senior-year students of Anacostia High School. Do the students of this facility have the same opportunity as the residents from better socioeconomical backgrounds or are they being excluded from the technology? Material/Method: To approach the thesis goal I have used a quantitative method. More specifically, a questionnaire was handed out to the senior year students at Anacostia High School. Main results: The study has shown that most of the students of Anacostia had in some way access to computers and Internet.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka om visualiseringsträning kan minska nivån av upplevd stress hos kampsportare. I studien deltog 27 atleter (16-41 år) som var medlemmar i en utvald kampsportsförening lokaliserad i sydvästra Sverige. Deltagarna randomiserades in i en experimentgrupp och en kontrollgrupp där experimentgruppen erbjöds att vid tre tillfällen delta i visualiseringsträning. Det instrument som tillämpades i denna studie var K10 testet av Kessler et al. (2002) som mäter stressupplevelsen hos individer sett ur ett generellt hälsoperspektiv.

This essay examines middle school students? understanding of a text read aloud to them in English and the connection between the degree of listening comprehension and the expected increase of vocabulary throughout middle school. The same listening comprehension test was carried out in grades 4, 5 and 6 in a middle school in order to survey differences in English listening comprehension in regard to the ability to reproduce the content of an oral text.
