Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka huruvida den tyska ubåtskrigföringen under andra världskriget använde sig av sjökrigsmetoder som beskrevs av Sir Julian Corbett i början av 1900-talet. För att testa Corbetts teorier studeras slaget om Atlanten 1939 ? 1945 som ett empiriskt fall.Frågeställningen i denna rapport är: Vilka likheter och/eller skillnader finns mellan Sir Julian Corbetts sjökrigsmetoder och det tyska ubåtsvapens agerande under slaget om Atlanten? Metoden som används för denna undersökning är en komparativ metod där slaget om Atlanten studeras som ett fall. Resultatet visar att det finns en del likheter men också skillnader mellan tyskarnas ubåtskrigföring och Corbetts teorier. Corbett menar att syftet med all sjökrigföring är att alltid direkt eller indirekt säkra ett sjöherravälde eller att hindra motståndaren från att säkra den.

Den här studien har granskat och analyserat på vilka sätt information kan rapporteras direkt från operatören, med hjälp av handdatorer, till underhållspersonalen och produktionschefen utan att fördröjas. Studien har genomförts med tanke på att, i dagsläget, finns det en del viktig information som inte visualiseras och rapporteras inom företagen i tid och på ett bra sätt. Denna situation bidrar till att olika mätningar som genomförs inom företaget grundas på felaktiga informationer som inte är baserade på tidsaktuella och kvalitativa data, och inte baserad på analys av de verkliga aktiviteterna som sker på verksamhetsgolvet. I samband med användningen av Internet och introduktion av konceptet e-underhåll inom industrin, har operatörens roll ändrat från att vara passiv till att bli en aktiv aktör. Den här studien baserar på artiklar och böcker som först och främst handlar om IT, informationsteknologi och e-underhåll, men också på en fallstudie där observationer och intervjuer gjordes på plats på företaget CC Pack i Tibro.

Picker robots are often mounted close to each other above a conveyor belt. To be able topack robots even closer, it is desirable to reduce the footprint of the robot?s base. One way toachieve this is to skew the arms of the robot which makes it possible to move them closer toeach other.This Master Thesis has been carried out at ABB Corporate Research. The purpose is toevaluate the benefits and drawbacks for the idea of making today?s Picker robot morecompact by skewing the arms.

ABSTRACT Skånskt Naturbeteskött is a group of approximately 30 beefproducers in the south of Sweden, who sell their products on the local market. They are certified with Svenskt Sigill, an organisation that works with animal welfare, environmental responsibility, safe food, open landscape and independent qualitycontrol. These producers have to fulfil certain demands regarding pasture and quality of the meat. For this essay I did a market investigation in which I wanted to find out what qualities the Swedish market and the consumers want in their beef. The purpose was to find out what Skånskt Naturbeteskött could do differently to satisfy the market for locally produced beef in the south of Sweden. In the investigation I turned to those responsible for the beef in 12 supermarkets, 4 selling Skånskt Naturbeteskött today, 4 that sold it before but quit, and 4 that never have sold it but might be interested in the future.

This study is commissioned by the Swedish University of Agricultural Science (SLU - Department of Forest Resource Management) in coorporation with Sveaskog and Vilhelmina Norra Sami reindeer herding community. The purpose of this study is to analyse movement patterns and habitat use of reindeers during two winter seasons (2005/2006 and 2006/2007) in areas affected by forestry activities such as clearcutting. This study examines the possibilities of analysing information from Reindeer husbandry plans and forest variable data from kNN and SMD, in relation to GPS collar points from reindeers by using Geographical Information System (GIS). Lack of knowledge and understanding between the reindeer industry and the timber industry has often led to heated debates. The possibilities of using this type of technique are very interesting and could increase knowledge concerning land-use issues to different resource users. The main results from analyses comparing SMD, kNN, data about clearcuts, and GPS collar points from reindeers indicates that clearcut areas, younger forest, coniferous forest on lichen-dominated areas and areas dominated by pine was preferred by reindeers during the winter period.

The dog (Canis lupus familiaris) is the first species ever domesticated. They can develop a close bond towards other dogs, almost like a relationship among siblings, which can be a high valuable resource for good relations and cooperation?s. Dominance in dogs is sometimes used to explain undesired behaviors and explained as a personality trait. Dominance though, is not a trait in a dog or a source for undesired behaviors, but can rather be explained as a relationship between individuals, were one of them receives more submissive signals from the other.

Problems with wild boars are increasing in Sweden and some people argue that the wild boar population must decrease. This is mostly the opinion by farmers, while the hunters want more wild boars in Sweden. Today the population is the strongest in the south of Sweden and in the eastern parts of the country. However the population is growing stronger in other parts of Sweden as well. The population origins from these areas where they escaped from pens around 1970.

Volvo Penta i Vara tillverkar diselmotorer för marint bruk. Nya materialfilosofier har ändrat förutsättningarna för materialflödet ute i produktionen. Även ökade krav på miljö och säkerhet gör att Volvo Penta i Vara vill se över sin layout för att kunna effektivisera de interna transporterna och därmed göra fabriken säkrare.Detta arbete avser monteringen på Volvo Penta och har skett parallellt med Marcus Nordberg som tittat på bearbetningen och målning/pack.Syftet med arbetet är att ta fram ett förslag på en ny layout som kan gynna fabriken med hänsyn till de nya förutsättningarna som gäller för materialflödena och bidra till en renare och säkrare miljö. Genom att kartlägga materialflödet i fabriken kan en nulägesbeskrivning sammanställas och med denna kan en ny layout tas fram. En jämförelse med nuläget ger faktaunderlag för att visa vad en ny layout kan medföra.En frekvensanalys gjordes på de artiklar som i dag körs av gaffeltruckar för att skapa en uppfattning om materialflödet.

To produce milk of good standard the feed for the animals kept for milk production is an important part in the work of quality. This makes it important to feed them with good forage, especially when feeding with silage. The process of making silage is very complex and requires a careful handling to be successful. The fundamental idea is to create an anaerobic environment in the herbage to favour the desirable micro-organisms, in this case the lactic acid bacteria. This environment is created by careful handlings were the importance is to pack the crop well and cover it as soon as possible to exclude oxygen.

Popup-annonser på Internet väcker stor irritation hos många användare och få uppskattar de annonsfönster som kommer upp framför dem på datorn. Ett svar på att annonsverktyget är föga uppskattat var när Microsoft lanserade Service Pack II till Windows XP som innehöll ett popup-filter. Vid lanseringen av popup-filtret sjönk antalet visningar i Europa med cirka 35 procent. Men även innan filtret kom märktes en nedgång av antalet visningar på grund av restriktivare användning från portaler till följd av klagomål och kritik från besökare.

This examination work is the final work in our education to become a Bachelor of Science inMechanical Engineering by the University of Lund.The main purpose with this work has been to develop a new effective material handling system for TPPM AB in Lund since the existing system starts to become out of date. The future system that is going to be installed shall have the capacity to support all machines with unit-, semi- and finished goods during full production. The work has also included studying the possibilities to change the material flow in a positive way between the storage and the production when one is using existing buildings.During our work we have been used a simulation program called AutoMod, performing company visits, interviews and reviewed internal and external information to create a picture of what the best conclusion can be. During the work we have contacted five suppliers to receive system solutions and quotatioris. The suppliers, which have been contacted, are Swisslog, Moving, Rocia, Christensen & Hansen and ABB.
