The main purpose of this Master?s thesis is to examine what librarians in seven public libraries experience as major change in their work tasks. We are also interested in exploring how these changes influence librarians? ways of working. In addition to this we want to explore if librarians have experienced change in relation to user?s expectations and demands and if so, how they are met.

Uppsatsen är en CD- uppsats i Sociologi som faller inom socialpsykologins ramar. Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka i vilken utsträckning ungdomar upplever stress i deras nuvarande livssituation samt vilka tankar de har om stress i kommande vuxenliv. Uppsatsen utgår ifrån tre övergripande nivåer: strukturell, kulturell och individuell nivå. Dessa nivåer presenterar och analyserar var för sig faktorer som objektivt eller subjektivt kan framkalla stress. Uppsatsen undersöker ungdomars upplevelse av stress och syftar till att skapa och förmedla en förståelse av detsamma.

This essay concerns the issue of democracy and judicial review. The main focus is on the justification of both a positive and a negative attitude towards judicial review, and the values these justifications are based on. The analysis is made by textual analysis of four authors with different opinions of the subject matter: Robert Dahl and Jeremy Waldron who has a negative attitude towards judicial review, and Erwin Chemerinsky and Ronald Dworkin who are positive about it. In the analysis an analytic frame is used which consists of different dimensions and aspects of the problem of democracy and judicial review. The study shows that there are important differences in democratic values between a positive and a negative justification of judicial review.

In this undergraduate thesis you will venture on a journey through the land of democratic values and urban planning. My research question is stated as: whether or not urban planning can show effects on democratic values and whether or not the municipalities in Sweden takes these possible effects into account when planning their city centres. You will in my theory part of this thesis be able to read about different views on urban planning and on democracy. Famous authors like Robert D. Putnam and Richard Florida will be examined as well as other theorists on democracy and urban planning.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the attitude of teachers regarding including democratic behaviour when grading students in social science. The purpose is also to investigate whether the teachers consider there to be a conflict between the right of freedom of speech and the democratic values that the school is supposed to make sure the students have when they graduate. The study also investigates the problems political decisions encounters when going from theory to reality.The theory of Ulf Petäjä on why the freedom of speechs is important, Robert Dahls theory about the democratic process and Anders Sannerstedts theory about converting political decisions to reality is what this study is based on.The study was carried out at three different schools; Teleborg Centrum, Växjö, Dackeskolan, Tingsryd and Centralskolan, Virserum ranging from the spring of 2006 and the spring of 2007. The method used except from litterature studies was interviews with active teachers.This study shows that teachers don?t think it?s acceptable to grade students based on their political ideology.

Denna uppsatts behandlar miljöproblemen i Karlshäll beroende på sliperiverksamhet utifrån Robert Nozick´s rättighetsteori. Med hjälp av denna teori så har jag försökt klargöra hur och om skador på miljön beroende på användning av fenylkvicksilver i produktionen av slipmassa i Karlshäll skall ersättas. Med hjälp av hans modell har jag även klargjort statens roll i problematiken samt även på vilket sätt denne bör medverka för att nå en lösning. Utifrån detta har jag generaliserat den lösning jag kommit fram till mot ett större perspektiv för att visa på likheten i problematik mellan stora och små, lokala och globala miljöproblem och likheten i lösning på de samma. Genom min tillämpning av Nozick´s rättighetsteori har jag kunnat slå fast att det är den dåvarande ägaren till Munksund AB som skall ersätta de skador verksamheten i Karlshäll åstadkommit.

Abstract Detta examensarbete belyser konflikter i förskolan ur ett genus- och miljöperspektiv. Vi har gjort observationer på en avdelning på en förskola och intervjuat en pedagog. Vi undersökte om miljön har någon inverkan på att konflikter uppstår samt om det finns någon skillnad mellan pojkars och flickors lösningsstrategier. Vi har även undersökt pedagogens förhållningssätt till de olika konfliktsituationerna. Vi har använt oss av är Pierre Bourdieu teori kring habitus, det vill säga de erfarenheter barnen bär med sig hemifrån och från andra ställen i sin omgivning.

The purpose with this project was to invent a product that secures buildings sewersystems against rats. The problem was presented to us by a local building maintainer inHalmstad, who had experienced big problems with rats in his real estate. The project hasbeen carried out by Per Johansson, Robert Lidén and Niclas Nilsson under our ownauspices. We are primarily sponsored by AMLI Business Partner but also byInnvationsgruppen, Halmstad Fastighets AB and Anticimex.To be able to secure a whole building with only one product we came to the conclusionthat the product must be placed in the horizontal sewer pipe that connects with themunicipal sewer system. Our goal was to invent a product that prevent rats from passingand at the same time not affect the water flow.

Does Karlstad municipality have adequate institutional conditions to make the best use ofthe citizens? proposals??The purpose with the thesis is to investigate if citizens? proposals lead to a broader politicalinfluence. To answer that, I have done a case study about how Karlstad municipal administers citizens? proposals. The research assignment is: Does Karlstad municipal have adequate institutional conditions to make the best use of the citizens? proposals? The perspective is a democracy perspective and the theory is institutional theory and policy process theory.A selection of citizens? proposals that have arrived to Karlstad municipal between 2008 and 2010 have been studied in detail to analyze how the proposals have been administered and if it matters how the proposals are phrased.

Political disenchantment and detachment is proven to be growing in well established democracies. This development brings along concerning behavior regarding general political participation. Fewer citizens participate in elections, parties are losing members, and the trust in politicians is steadily decreasing. IDEA (Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance) has been registering voter turnout worldwide for the last 60 years and their publications show a decline in voter participation since the 1980s.During the same period of time another development has caught attention, namely the fast progress of the medium Internet. The new generation of Internet functions is called Web 2.0 and allows users not only to create content, but also to interact with each other.This dissertation aims to explore the possibilities emerging when integrating Web 2.0 in political processes.

AbstractThe political parties in Sweden are losing members. This is seen as a problem because the political parties are the base and the recruiting ground for members to decision-making bodies. Social movements are seen as a place where people with a modest background could express their opinions and also learn the political process. These movements have also lost members during the last decades and this could seriously affect the representation of lower social groups among the decision-makers. This essay emanates from Robert D.

This study has been carried out in cooperation with Unilever and partly with the EC founded project, Smartdoc IST-2000-28137. In areas of statistics and image processing, both the amount of data and the dimensions are increasing rapidly and an interactive visualization tool that lets the user perform real-time analysis can save valuable time. Real-time cropping and drill-down considerably facilitate the analysis process and yield more accurate decisions. In the Smartdoc project, there has been a request for a component used for smart filtering in multidimensional data sets. As the Smartdoc project aims to develop smart, interactive components to be used on low-end systems, the implementation of the self-organizing map algorithm proposes which dimensions to visualize.

Stress bland ungdomar är något som går allt längre ner i åldrarna. Prestationskrav och konkurrens ökar och många ungdomar är rädda att inte räcka till vilket kan leda till stress. Syftet med studien är att undersöka vad som stressar ungdomar på det naturvetenskapliga programmet i gymnasieskolan och hur elevernas copingresurser verkar i förhållande till stressen. Studien bygger på ett flertal olika psykologiska teorier om stress och coping, däribland Krav-Kontroll-Stöd modellen, utvecklad av Robert Karasek och Thöres Theorell (1990), Lazarus och Folkmans teorier om coping (1984), Siegrist ansträngnings- och belöningsmodell (1996) samt Blumberg och Pringles (1982) prestationsteori. I studien deltog 64 elever på det naturvetenskapliga programmet i Luleå.

Syftet med studien är att öka kunskapen kring hur normer och värderingar påverkar hur personalen på demensboenden förhåller sig till demenssjukas sexualitet och kärleksrelationer. I studien genomfördes fyra kvalitativa fokusgruppsintervjuer. Sammanlagt deltog 23 stycken undersköterskor och vårdbiträden från demensboenden i Stockholmsområdet. Materialet bearbetades och tematiserades i följande fyra teman: Reflexivitet hos personalen, Personalens syn på de boendes rätt till självbestämmande och det sexuella handlingsutrymmet, Samtycke och övergrepp samt Personalen, genus och heterosexuell tvåsamhet. Resultatet visar att personalen reglerar det sexuella handlingsutrymmet för de demenssjuka och att personalens roll varierar från att vara möjliggörare till de demenssjukas sexualitet, till att begränsa men inte förbjuda sexualiteten.

Skollag och läroplaner gör gällande att elever ska behandlas lika och ha lika möjligheter oavsett kön. Undersökningar visar att kvinnliga elever presterar bättre än manliga i alla ämnen utom idrott och hälsa. Samtidigt upplever tjejer i högre grad än killar stress i skolan. Kön tycks alltså ha en viss betydelse för hur elever upplever skolan. Uppsatsen syftar till att, med utgångspunkt i genusteori, undersöka eventuella genusstrukturer vid en gymnasieskola, hur dessa i så fall ser ut och vilka konsekvenser de då får.
