This study is based on the feminist belief in the importance of a reorganization of the existing gender hierarchy, where women have less power than men. Since news media reflect as well as contribute to create the reality we live in has the purpose with this study been to shed some light on how the gender structure is expressed in Sweden?s most popular television news program. I chose to examine one broadcast per day from the Public Service SVT news program Rapport during January 2010 using quantitative content analysis and the result was as follows:65 % of the news programs was presented by a woman news anchor 36 % of the news reports was carried through by a women journalist 31 % of the interviews contained a female participant The Representation of female participants in interviews did not depend onif the journalist was a woman or a manThe Representation of female participants in interviews did not depend on if the report was from Sweden or abroadWomen were more often than men interviewed in the role as nursing staff, development aid worker, teacher or principal, parent of a son, retired and sick or sick leaveOnly men were interviewed in the role as rescue worker, custom staff, member of the armed forces, house owner and tourist..

This essay is a meta-theoretical study that aims to show normative and ethical implications that might follow from theories concerning Representation of traumatic events in four essays from Shoshana Felman and Dori Laub?s Testimony. Crises of Witnessing in Literature, Psychoanalysis, and History and in Hayden White?s essay ?The Modernist Event?. Through a comparative analysis the essay mainly discusses how these writers deal with the problem of narrative.

This paper analyses what effect an application of a specific poststructural feminist theory has on the Swedish classification system SAB. The purpose is to study if it is possible to open up the current Representation of gender towards a more multiple one. The study is both theoretical and empirical. In this study I have analysed the national tests in Swedish between the years 2006-2010. These tests are given to all students in the public schools in grade 9 and 10. I wanted to see if I identified an over-Representation of a certain category of people in the texts given to the students. I denna uppsats analyseras realityserierna Rebecca & Fiona samt Danne & Bleckan med syftet att undersöka hur några av de geografiska platser, så som städer, orter och stadsdelar, där dessa serier utspelar sig är representerade. Bägge serierna är gjorda av produktionsbolaget Art89 för SVTs webbkanal SVT-play och sändes mellan 2010 och 2012.De områden som tas upp i analysen är Hornstull, Östermalm, Örebro samt Östberga i Rebecca & Fiona, och Högdalen samt Henriksdalsberget i Danne & Bleckan. Som metod har vi använt en kombination av semiotisk och narrativ analys. Med hjälp av detta har vi tittat på hur serierna konstruerats narratologiskt och vad som konnoteras från det man får se och höra. Detta har gjorts med fokus på de olika områden som serierna i huvudsak utspelar sig i, återkommer till under seriens gång eller får betydelsebärande roll i serien.Uppsatsen utgår från teorier kring genren reality, dess relation med dokumentär film och problematiken kring det sanningsanspråk som finns inom dessa.

In this study we have chosen to explore if there is still signs of gender typing in the two news programmes Rapport and Nyheterna. By using a quantitative survey as a method we have investigated if there are any differences between the sexes and their roles.The two main questions where:How does the Representation look when it comes to the numbers of women and men?In what extension is the Representation gender typed?Due to different theoretical points and former research we have seen that journalistic subject and gender often tends to go hand in hand. When it comes to other participants, such as subjects of interviews, earlier research has shown that experts most often are men. Whereas women often participate as ordinary people, such as mothers or students.

Every episode has an audience at around 500.000 viewers. Because the channel is under the rules of the public service agreement, strict rules of diversity are applied.The purpose of this study is to examine the gender Representation in Debatt; to investigate how men and women behave in the context of the televised debate and to see if the programme has managed to reflect an equal Representation of the voices of men and women.We did this by performing a quantitative content analysis of four different episodes of Debatt, with 4 different hosts ? two women hosts and two men.

The purpose of the thesis has been to explore the use of hedge fund styles when constructing portfolios of hedge funds (i.e. funds of hedge funds). The central question is if the use of hedge fund styles can significantly explain and improve risk adjusted returns (characterized by Sharpe ratios). The study has been done in collaboration with Optimized Portfolio Management AB who desire further knowledge and evaluation of hedge fund styles for their fund of hedge funds.To be able to create successful ex ante portfolios we have explored various prediction models for both risk and return. Our findings indicate that return prediction is problematic using simple models such as regression since the risk exposure of the indices appear to change significantly over time.

The free press is an invaluable part of the democratic society and a pillar stone in the creation of ideas, opinions and norms. According to theories such as agenda-setting and framing the media have a significant influence on people?s perspectives and opinions. With this view of media along with the gender system provided by Yvonne Hirdman as a framework, this study intends to examine the gender Representation in Swedish domestic news journalism. The study consists of a quantitative analysis of two major Swedish morning papers, Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet, where the gender Representation regarding journalists, main news sources and pictures are being accounted for.

The European Union (EU) has since the Treaty of Rome 1957 pursued the goal of gender equality and one effort is through their gender equality strategies. In recent years EU also has had an increased emphasis on intersectionality. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to examine how intersectionality is portrayed in EUs three gender equality strategies between 2010 and 2025. To investigate this, the problems and solutions presented in the strategies have been reviewed. The study uses a qualitative content analysis and a theoretical framework of intersectionality with an analytical scheme to study the equality strategies.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur manlighet konstrueras och representeras i modemagasinet King utifrån ett genusperspektiv. Dels ges en översikt över empirin och dels genomförs en djupare analys med semiotik som metod, av sex stycken reportagebilder. Mer specifikt undersöks hur kroppsspråk, klädkoder, frisyrer, attribut och kameravinklar bidrar till att konstruera manligt och kvinnligt samt vilka manlighetsideal som förekommer med teorin om bland annat hegemonisk maskulinitet som verktyg. I min gestaltning använder jag montageteknik som metod för att synliggöra, problematisera och bidra till ökad förståelse för detta. Resultatet visar att King har ett nytt sätt att porträttera manlighet på.

In this essay the author tries to see how the tv-series reprensatation of men and women looks like. Media, such as tv-series, acts as great source of inspiration when people tries to understand the world around them.

Sverige framställs ofta som ett av världens mest jämställda länder där män och kvinnor har samma möjlighet till inflytande och makt. Kvinnor på ledande positioner i Sverige har ökat de senast årtionden men när det kommer till högre positioner brister kvinnor i Representationen, framförallt inom det privata näringslivet. Lönsamhetsargumentet har ofta används som ett skäl för att öka andelen kvinnor i börsnoterade styrelser och företagsledning, medan studier om diversifierade styrelser visar på ett blandat resultat både vad gäller lönsamhet och effektivitet.
