The tomato is an important crop worldwide, and in recent years it has received great attention due to its rich content of carotenoids, which in studies indicate to have health benefiting properties. Many studies have been done in this area of research and in how to optimize the carotenoid content in tomatoes and tomato products. The objectives of this essay were to summarize present data in this field. The results were as follows:There are nine different carotenoids identified in tomatoes. Lycopene and ?-carotene are the ones that have been given the greatest attention.

Electronic article surveillance (EAS) is widely used in shops and libraries together with an RF-tag attached to the goods or books in order to prevent shoplifting. By implementing the addition of a moisture sensor to the RF-tag, other functions become possible, including the ability to use as an alarm with regards to frozen goods, which have been shipped but which have melted and have, subsequently, refrozen. In- relation to care for the elderly, one time-consuming step involves checking whether there is the necessity for a change of diaper and this can, instead, be based on an RF-tag with an EAS-system alarm. A preliminary investigation was made using the moisture sensors, which involved how the resistance changes when liquid and/or heat is applied. A simulation of the LCCR circuit (RF-tag with the sensor) was conducted in order to determine how the resonance frequency changes for different resistances levels.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic respiratory disease with an estimated incidence of 3-6 cases per 100 000 inhabitants in Sweden. There is no cure for the disease, which inevitably leads to death. A similar disease has been found among terrier dogs, with an especially high prevalence in the West Highland White Terrier (WHWT). Dogs with pulmonary fibrosis become lethargic with exercise intolerance, and in some cases they develop cough and respiratory distress. This thesis gives a brief review of the field of pulmonary fibrosis and presents a method for analyzing surfactant proteins in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) in the dog.

This study raises the question how the implementation of the balanced scorecard in the municipality of Gotland has been influenced by the way of communication. A case study is made in the administration of Social-and care management on Gotland. We have been focusing on two different ways of communication. The first one is Shannon and Weavers model where communication is explained as a transmission of a message through a channel to a receiver. The other one is sensemaking where it is focal to give the information meaning.

Biståndsorganisationer spenderar mycket resurser på att finna en enskild optimal lösning där biståndet ska lansera starten till en självförsörjande tillväxt. Det finns ingen sådan lösning. Istället måste hjälpen anpassas till mottagaren för att på sikt göra mest nytta.Länderna befinner sig i olika delar av ett behovsspektrum där vissa nationer inte är tillräckligt fattiga för att prioriteras för rent gåvobistånd, men inte heller är starka nog för att ha en möjlighet att konkurrera på marknadsmässiga villkor, i dessa länder kan man hantera problemen och arbeta för förbättringar med hjälp av garantiverksamheten inom biståndsorganisationerna.Behovet av garantier grundar sig dels i diskussionen om att uppnå ett mer effektivt hjälparbete men även i förekomsten av höga risker, vilka utgör hinder för att finansiärer skall motiveras till att göra investeringar i utvecklingsländerna. Företag vågar inte satsa sitt kapital på marknader där osäkerheten är alltför stor vilket gör att risken att få uppleva förlust fungerar som en avrådan till investeringar som är väsentligt avgörande för utvecklingslandets fortsatta utveckling.

There are a lot of different sounds in our sound saturated time. Noise is an unwishable soundand a high sound level can give short- or lingering problems for both children and adults.The purpose was to find out if and in that case why children and the activity at the pre-schoolaffects by a high soundlevel. Another purpose was to examine what the effects would be if thepedagogues set about the work to get a good sound environment at pre-school.The investigation was accomplished in shape of qualitative interwievs where six pedagoguesfrom different pre-schools answered questions about a high soundlevel.All of them have been educated to hearing pilotes.The result of this investigation shows that some pre-schools have a high sound levels but notall of them. In those cases where there is a high soundlevel are there often too many childrenat the same place on the same time. [Abstract: This study examines the observed difference between Swedish and foreign owners when it comes to nominating committee participation. The background to the study is that foreign owners seem to participate in Swedish nominating committees to a lesser extent than their Swedish counterparts. The focus is on institutional owners and the companies studied are all listed companies who follow the Swedish code of corporate governance. Particular attention is paid to perceived differences in behavior that can be explained using the common corporate governance related theories of Exit, Voice and Loyalty as well as Agency Theory. These explanations are chiefly related to differences in attitudes regarding insider information, different knowledge levels regarding the purpose and workings of nominating committees of the Swedish kind as well as differences due to home market biases.].

Problem: The great interest towards the company?s values has contributed to it becoming more common for individuals to seek out organizations that have a strong corporate culture. Where you work and whom you work for has thus become the dominant factors instead of what you are working with.Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine how the corporate culture, the rational and emotional benefits are experienced by the employees of the company. The aim is also to examine whether the corporate culture can become a management control measure by good communication between employees within the organization.Methodology: The essay is based on a qualitative research method and empirical data were collected through interviews from the company MTR Stockholm.Theoretical Frame of reference, Edgar Schein, Three Levels of Culture, Seven dimensions.Results: The study has shown that there are different cultures within the company. Vi har i vår uppsats studerat frihet och kontroll i postbyråkratiska organisationer. Enligt förespråkare för demokratiska företag ger denna nya organisationsform de anställda större frihet samtidigt som kontrollen minskar. Men en organisation förutsätter styrning och kontroll, var har då kontrollen tagit vägen? Vi använder det brasilianska företaget Semco som exempel på ett postbyråkratiskt företag och tittar på hur de arbetar rent teoretiskt med frihet och kontroll. Semcos VD Ricardo Semler har skrivit flera böcker om hur han förändrade Semco från ett auktoritärt och byråkratiskt företag med motivations- och lönsamhetsproblem till ett organiskt och dynamiskt företag där de anställda känner sig delaktiga och längtar efter att gå till jobbet på morgonen.

Under den senaste tiden har hård kritik riktats mot de svenska bankerna för de höga marginalerna på bolån. Bolåneräntorna har inte sänkts i samma omfattning som reporäntan och övriga riskfria räntor. I lågkonjunktur ger reporäntesänkningen inte samma sänkning av bolåneräntan, då bankerna har för avsikt att öka sina nettomarginaler i syfte att öka det egna kapitalet. Med anledning av detta undersöker denna uppsats hur spreaden mellan bolåneräntan och de riskfria räntorna varierar med konjunkturen. Vidare utreds relationen mellan den reala räntekostnaden ex post och konjunkturläget då denna är den mest väsentliga räntan för bolånekunder.

Under senare år har det etablerats ett flertal kommersiella vinodlingar runt om i Sverige och viner från dessa finns nu till försäljning genom Systembolaget. En debatt har uppstått kring Sveriges potential för att tillverka vin, hur dessa viner ter sig rent kvalitetsmässigt och huruvida de är något att ta notis om, annat än som kuriosa för vinentusiaster. I länder med längre tradition av vinodling förekommer begreppet ?terroireffekt? frekvent i samband med viners kvalitet och typicitet. Detta arbete syftar till att klargöra innebörden av begreppet ?terroir?, samt hur några av företagsledarna till större svenska vinodlingsföretag uppfattar och värderar denna teori. Detta har gjorts genom en litteraturstudie inriktad på aktuell forskning inom ämnet och genom en enkät ? och intervjustudie riktad mot tre svenska vinodlare. Resultatet av detta arbete visar att: ? det inte råder konsensus kring begreppets innebörd, men att det finns några tydliga huvudströmningar. ? de svenska vinodlarna som deltagit i studien i hög grad är av samma åsikter gällande uppfattning av begreppet terroireffekt.

The education sector can be seen as a cornerstone of today's society, an organization that is under constant change and evolve as society. The compulsory school system is of significant role in society that places high demands on its management. The following study investigates the requirements for documentation in primary school organization and operations, and how these requirements are perceived and affect the school's organization and activities of the study carried out at diffeRent levels of the organization so as to get an overall picture of its impact. In order to analyze and create understanding of the results, the study applies the theory of New Public Management and various reforms that can be linked to the increased documentation requirements and its influence in the public administration. Study results show that there is a mixed picture of the documentation impact on the school system. Shown are both positive and negative effects of the documentation requirements.

The main purpose of this study was to compare the levels of anger and aggression between male and female Police Academy students (N=106) and male university students (N=100), using 2 psychometric anger instruments; Novaco Anger Scale-1998-S (NAS-1998-S) and Aggression Questionnaire-S (AQ-S). Another aim was to examine if there was a difference in anger and aggression between male and female Police Academy students. Questionnaires were handed out to Police Academy students in Växjö and the result was compared to university students from a previous study by Lindqvist, Dåderman & Hellström (2003). Analyses using a series of Independent sample t-tests showed a significantly lower level of anger and aggression in the Police Academy sample. There were no significant difference in anger and aggression between males and females with the exception of two subscales of the NAS-1998-S and AQ-S; females scored significantly higher on NAS Arousal and males scored significantly higher on AQ Physical aggression..

The aim of this essay is to investigate how patrons, librarians and indexers use subject headings to describe and index fiction literature. We wanted to know if the groups concentrated on diffeRent levels in the text from a semiotic viewpoint, where words either can describe the manifest/connotative meaning or the latent/denotative. To investigate this we had four fiction indexers, four librarians working with fiction for adults and eight library users read and index four short stories. After that we did interviews asking them about how they were thinking when describing the texts, how they use subject headings, about their opinions on indexing and, in the interviews with the librarians and indexers, about their usual work assignments. The subject headings they listed were analysed according to the level they described.
