Water is the most essential resource for life. In cases where drinking water is processed from surface water it is important to ensure the raw water is of good quality, and is suitable for processing through the water treatment plant.The drinking water for Västerås is sourced from Västeråsfjärden, in the western side of Lake Mälaren. The city itself is home to marinas, ports, a wastewater treatment plant, the Svartån outlet, sewage pumping stations and stormwater outlets. Because of the negative effects these activities have on surface water quality, Mälarenergi AB is interested in relocating the raw water intake point to Granfjärden, 10 km east of Västeråsfjärden. At Granfjärden the intake point would be less exposed to the activities in Västerås, and could be placed at a greater depth, resulting in better water quality.In this Master?s thesis the water quality and the pollution risks at Västeråsfjärden and Granfjärden sites are compared.

Hydropower is an important source of energy in Sweden and accounts for about 46 % of the total energy production. Sweden has about 1 200 hydropower plants and with the intention of raising the pressure head of the water and to store water, dams are built by the power plants. The storage reservoirs make it possible to adjust the energy production by demand and season. Dams in connection to the reservoirs are subjected to additional loading during periods of high floods or when an icecap in the winter is formed on the reservoirs. In order to maintain the dam safety, the power companies in Sweden are working with guidelines for dam safety from RIDAS.

The Swedish curriculum says that the education will adapt and take notice of every child?s individual condition and needs. Every child has the right to development, to feel the happiness of growing and to experience satisfaction of making progress and overcome difficulties. In every class it is often children who need adapted physical education. The earlier these children can get support and practice, the bigger the chance is that they will catch up.

The purpose of this study was to examine by means of Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI), the relationship between Neuroticism, and self-rated eating problems. Altogether 105 respondents, mean aged 42,3 years, including 11 men and 94 women, participated by answering an Internet-based questionnaire comprising three different sections. Syftet med denna studie var att belysa unga människors tankar om begreppet attraktivt arbete rent generellt och vad ett attraktivt arbete inom äldreomsorgen innefattar. Vad kännetecknar ett attraktivt arbete och anses äldreomsorgen uppfylla dessa krav på vad ett attraktivt arbete innehåller. Intervjuer med omvårdnadspersonal från hemtjänst och äldreboenden har genomförts. Studien innefattar även intervjuer med gymnasieelever från omvårdnadsprogrammet och belyser deras förväntningar och erfarenheter på ett arbete inom äldreomsorgen. Studien visar att ett arbete inom äldreomsorgen är ett arbete som anses bra men att vissa förbättringar ändå är nödvändiga för att säkerställa framtidens personalförsörjning.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka huruvida de nya reglerna angående ränteavdragsbegränsningar är förenliga med EG-fördragets fria etableringsrätt och om reglerna inte anses vara det - huruvida en sådan inskränkning kan rättfärdigas.De nya reglerna avser en begränsning av avdragsrätten för ränteutgifter och gäller vid räntebetalningar mellan företag i intressegemenskap. Avdrag för ränteutgifter får göras under förutsättning att den inkomst som motsvarar ränteutgiften skulle ha beskattats med en skattesats som uppgår till minst tio procent (tio-procentsregeln) enligt lagstiftningen i den stat där det företag i intressegemenskapen som faktiskt har rätt till ränteinkomsterna hör hemma, om företaget bara skulle ha haft den inkomsten. Avdrag får även göras för ränteutgifter i de fall såväl förvärvet som den skuld som ligger till grund för ränteutgifterna är huvudsakligen affärsmässigt motiverade. Regeln är ett alternativ till tio-procentregeln och gäller därmed även i de fall ränteinkomsten inte beskattas med minst tio procent. Computerized methods for searching pictures are becoming more common. With these it ispossible to make powerful search requests using a combination of terms and search oncomprehensive descriptions of the pictures. The descriptions can encompass various aspectsof the content and allow different interpretations and levels of detail.This essay is about how you can examine and describe the content of a picture from manypoints of view. We have tried to identify differences in searching behaviour, and studiedsome methods for indexing of pictures. Our concepts are taken from the philosophy of artand from theories about the meaning of languages.In the future perhaps libraries can make pictures and illustrations in books available to thepublic, in a sophisticated system, for the purpose of providing visual documentation forstudy, research or other kinds of exploitation..

I denna rapport presenteras utveckling och prototyptillverkning av ramen och tiltfunktionen till en tiltbar reverse trike. En reverse trike är ett fordon med ett bakhjul och två framhjul. Bakhjulet är det drivande hjulet medan de två framhjulen är de styrande.Ett personligt intresse har alltid funnits för cyklar och cykelliknande fordon med fler än två hjul. I stort sett samtliga cyklar av den typen som finns kommersiellt tillgängliga idag använder sig utav en stel ram med begränsad fjädring på respektive hjul. Problemet med dessa är att de inte ger samma inlevelse vid färd som exempelvis en vanlig tvåhjulig cykel eller en motorcykel där fordonet kan lutas vid kurvtagning för att bättre utnyttja vikt och tyngdpunkt för att inte tippa.

Syftet med studien är att med hjälp av observationer och intervjuer undersöka hur Södra Förstadsgatan i Malmö påverkas av en omläggning från trafikerad väg till gågata. Undersökningen svarar på vad en gågata skulle innebära för brukarna längs gatan. Det visar sig att trafikmiljön är dålig både för gång- och cykeltrafikanter, men även för näringsidkarna. Dock är näringsidkarna oroliga för hur försäljningen ska gå om bilar inte kan köra längs gatan. Utifrån Gehls kvalitetskriterier observeras gatan och det framkommer att kvaliteterna brister på flera punkter.

The aim of this study was to illuminate how social workers in social services work with the social phenomenon, homelessness in two municipalities. The study is based on qualitative semi-structured interviews with interviewees from a department of social services. Our theories that we used was resistant inequality, structural discrimination, exclusion, empowerment and representation. After compilation of our empirical our conclusions are that homelessness is a complex phenomenon. Social workers handles homelessness based on client?s needs and the work is individualized.

Denna uppsats handlar om elevers attityd till ämnet matematik. Syftet med uppsatsen var att undersöka om elevers attityd till matematik förändras vid införande av mer konkret material i form av lek och spel i undervisningen. Undersökningen genomfördes i årskurs tre och pågick under en period av fem veckor. Enkäter och observationer har legat till grund för undersökningen. Målet var att ge eleverna möjligheten att arbeta mer praktiskt.

When Swedish authorities are to purchase or rent something, public procurement is used as a means to an end. Authorities as well as suppliers are subjects to the fact that Swedish law regarding public procurement regulates the form of procurement in one set of particular regulations (LOU) and the form of contracts in another set of general regulations (AvtL). Suppliers and purchasing authorities close a contract regarding the subject of procurement and the law of public procurement regulates when such a contract can be closed, simultaneously the law of contracts regulates when parties are held to contracts and when contracts are to be rescinded. I investigate in this essay what these two types of regulations can result in for the contracting parties. As it is today agreements that have been entered into wrongfully still are valid, even if a court of law nullifies the procurement and sentences the purchasing authority to make a new public procurement.

This study aims to investigate how and why teachers use social media to reach their students, and how they handle diffeRent levels of computer literacy among students.The purpose of this study is to investigate the experience of teachers using social media in their teaching. I have done interviews with two teachers, who use social media in different ways. One of the teachers makes her students publish their work on the Internet on wiki-spaces, and the other one use Facebook for discussions and teamwork. This report uses the pedagogy theories laid forth by Vygotskij as a vantage point to analyze the answers from the teachers. I have also looked at some of the published student texts on the Internet.This study concludes there are students who don?t have access to computers and Internet at home.

This work examines the students´ thoughts on climate change with a focus on carbondioxid through photosynthesis and the carbon emissions from cars. The study is based on two subject areas, one with a focus on enhanced greenhouse effect, and the other focusing on photosythesis. The survey was conducted by means of qualitative interviews with students in grades four and six. The results describe that student´s understanding for photosynthesis and the carbondioxids function for photosynthesis doesn´t change significantly from grade four to grade six. I have divided the students inte three levels based on their understandingof the various fields, and their use of adequate concepts.
