This report presents the results of a thesis in which the department PL Hus at Grontmij AB isstudied. The study has been done in order to locate problem areas in order to streamline andimprove the quality of working. The study was done by an engineering student from theDepartment of Industrial Management at KTH on behalf of Grontmij AB. The project extendedover a period of 20 weeks during spring 2011.In addition to the Department itself has two project managers in two different projects beenfollowed. The method used has been participant observation and was used to be able to comeclose to reality and thus find problem areas where there are opportunities for development.Validation was made through comments and opinions from workers at Grontmij AB, afterreading the reports analysis.Based on a system and holistic approach has parallels been drawn to the production systems suchas TPS (Toyota Production System) and lean production.

Bakgrund: Idag kan vi se att allt fler fo?retag har blivit projektbaserade och det har blivit en vanlig arbetsform. Vi ser och ho?r om ?projekt? o?verallt. Att skapa tillfa?lliga projektorganisationer fo?r att effektivt lo?sa olika problem a?r ett arbetssa?tt som sprider sig inom alla typer av verksamheter och branscher.

Virtual teams are teams where team members don?t sit and work in the same place, they canwork in different countries, cities and buildings. It?s not the distance between team members that defines a virtual team, it's the extent to which the team is dependent on information technology to communicate and carry out a task. Virtual teams is becoming more common in organizations, to use virtual teams organizations can reduced time and travel costs and create a larger knowledgebase.A project manager for virtual teams faces many challenges, they have to build trust with and among team members they rarely or never meet, create a common understanding of project objectives and manage the challenges that culture and information technology creates.

Att arbeta i projektform är något som blir allt vanligare i dagens samhälle. Ett projekt består av många mindre processer som tillsammans måste fungera i synergi för att projektet som helhet ska fortlöpa som planerat. Vi lever dock i en föränderlig värld och det är vanligt att någon av dessa processer inte går som planerat, vilket får kostsamma förseningar till följd (Christensen och Kreiners 1997). Syftet med uppsatsen är att ställa två verkliga projekt i förhållande till den litteratur vi tagit del av. Genom att göra detta vill vi identifiera vilket tillvägagångssätt som är det effektivaste, både ur tids- och kostnadsaspekt.

The aim of this study is to examine the investment decision process for investments that arise due to strategic changes and are of strategic importance to the company. At the foundation of this study is the previous research in this area, done by King (1975) and Bower (1970), which examines the investment process on a more generic level. At the core is the investment decision process pertaining to Projekt X, an investment performed by NordiCorp. Having conducted a case study including six interviews with employees from various parts of the organization, combined with a large number of internal documents, the process regarding the investment decision was carefully illuminated. The results show that in many regards, this process follows the more generic investment process.

I dagsläget talas det mycket om att informationsteknologiprojekt (IT-projekt) läggs ner, vilketgör denna rapport relevant. Syftet med rapporten är att ge företag som arbetar med systemutvecklingsprojekt(SU-projekt) en ökad förståelse över hur projektledaren kan arbeta med deutmaningar som denne stöter på, för att på så sätt kunna uppnå ett framgångsrikt projekt. Rapportensfokus ligger på projektledning och SU-projekt där vi valt att utgå ifrån projektledarensperspektiv. Rapporten riktar sig till projektledare, studenter, föreläsare samt till de företagsom arbetar i projektform.Vid genomförandet har vi först arbetat fram ett teoriavsnitt för att ha som utgångspunkt vidden empiriska undersökningen. Rapporten utgår från en kvalitativ metod då det i denna forskningär viktigt att ha en närhet till studieobjekten.

To implement an ERP-system is not an easy process. The success of the implementation depend on many different variables. The most important one is perhaps the requirement process, to define what the organization wants and expects from the system. In this study, the advantages of a process mapping are examined, in relation to the phase where the requirements are expressed in an ERP-implementation. The conclusion is that a process mapping generates an increased communication with the supplier of the ERP-system, hence the business knows their processes and thereby what they want from the system.

This thesis examines a project that has been conducted at a software development company. The aim is to investigate which problems firms of this kind faces performing projects. We choose a theoretical frame consisting of a modern view on how to manage projects. The view argues that the management of each project has to be adapted to the situation at hand. This theory is divided into two separate streams of reasoning; one emphasize learning, delegation of responsibility and flexibility, while the other argues for control, time planning and the importance of keeping to the plans.When we compare the theories to the case we draw three main conclusions: A thorough phase of investigation is required to produce the necessary planning documents.

Bakgrund: Den negativa bild som media målat upp av den privata äldreomsorgen, har lett till en ökad fokusering på kvalitetsutveckling i dessa verksamheter. Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen är att beskriva och förklara hur kvalitetsarbetet utformas och genomförs på operationell nivå inom en privat vårdorganisation. Avsikten är även att ge förslag på hur arbetet skulle kunna förbättras. Avgränsningar: Vår studie omfattar förbättringsarbete avseende tjänstekvalitetsutveckling i ett privat vårdföretag i Sverige och omfattar tre enheter inom en region. Uppsatsen är skriven från ett ledningsperspektiv och behandlar kvalitetsutvecklingsarbete på operativ nivå.

Jag har under mitt kandidatarbete gjort en praktisk studie av producentrollen på det Karlshamnsbaserade spelföretaget Black Drop Studios. I denna slutreflektion går jag igenom min egen process under utvecklingen av en spelprototyp av företagets primära produkt, plattforms-racing spelet Boingo. Under produktionen har jag som producent verkat för att effektivisera verksamheten och agerat som en resurs för teamet. Jag har haft dagliga möten och individuella samtal med medlemmarna i gruppen, samt kontinuerligt övervakat och utvärderat arbetsflödet genom det web-baserade projektledningsverktyget Redmine. Utöver min roll som producent har jag även arbetat med marknadsföring och presentation av den färdiga produkten på Game Developers Conference i San Francisco.

With increased globalization more companies are sending their employees abroad in order for the company?s survival on the market. Many studies in the field of International Business describe unsuccessful foreign assignments and the importance of intercultural support regarding expatriation. Due to the fact that company X is an international organization we found an interest in studying how the company handles their expatriation process in Sweden. This became the purpose of our study.

Bakgrund: Att arbeta i projekt skiljer sig till stor del gentemot den ?normala? organisationsformen. Projekt är temporära och kommer att upplösas efter projektets genomförande. Det finns en uppsjö av litteratur som tar upp projekt som arbetsform, däremot tas sällan teamet upp som en del av projektet. Det är därför viktigt att se på faktorer inom teamet som kan påverka teamets effektivitet och därmed även projektets effektivitet.

In this thesis we have examined why the establishment process of travel destination is essential for the tour operators and how the process can be influenced by different conditions. The thesis is written from the perspective of the tour operators and with the tour operator Ving as our case study, we have been able to create a picture of how the establishment process of travel destination may look like.We have chosen to deal with some different areas in this thesis that all are important for the creation of a holistic picture of the process. The overall segments listed in this thesis are the process itself, the tourist, marketing, the product creation and demand. By connecting our theoretical framework to the collected empirical data from our case study, we have analyzed the establishment process and drawn our conclusions..

The goal of this project was to make the requirement process at the Swedish Coastguard more effective. The first step to achieve this was done by locating bottle necks in the process with value stream mapping method. The result of this study showed that the biggest restriction in the requirement process was while examining older requirement documents to understand what elements were suitable for the particular project. This was followed by a study of literature, interviews and theory of Lean Production with the ambition to investigate how the requirement process was handled on other companies and how to improve the process on the Swedish coast guard. This led to a number of potential enhancements of the process which later was evaluated.
